(Archive) Advertising District / Anyone interested in an inter-site competition?

I've been approached by the admin of RCT Resource with a pretty intriguing idea that I thought I'd confer onto you, the NE members.

Basically, if all goes through, from February of next year through March of next year (a total of two months), there will be an inter-site competition pitting some of the biggest RCT sites on the net (rct2.com, NE, etc...) against each other.

Basically, each site can send a certain number of representative to "compete" in a series of events testing various aspects of RCT... stuff like park making, architecture, coasters, theming, and whatnot. There are a series of events, each with different time limits, and they will be staggered so that some start later than others (but might end sooner, for example, week 1 might feature something due in 4 weeks but week 2 features something due in 1 week). Based on the size of NE, we are allowed to send up to either 10 or 16 members to compete (they're working out the final limit). We don't have to compete in every event, but there's some minimum number that's not too drastically high. Each event is a solo venture, but more than one person per site can work on the same event, just independently, kinda like track. The contest is open to RCT LL, RCT 2, and RCT 3. WW and TT are not accepted. Your choice of which game to use is up to you... just consider your strengths and weaknesses and also possible judge reaction. Yes, the parks will be graded by a panel of judges.

Essentially, if you choose to sign up and are chosen, you'll be representing NE against "the best on the net." Or basically, against other web sites.



So this is where you all come in. If you find this interesting and feel you would like to take part, please sign up. Even if you don't think you'll have time, but you think it's a good idea for NE to participate, vote in the poll. And if you don't think we should take part, vote as well, just so I can get a gauge of the forum opinion.

Please note that in signing up, you recognize that you'll be free from February through March of next year to work on these events, barring disaster. I'll understand if shit happens, but just dropping out because you've become bored of RCT will not be acceptable, so if you plan on signing up, plan on being enthusiastic come that time. If more people sign up than there is room for, then I'll choose who I think will be the best (and I might call on some advice from "experts").

In any case, give me your feedback. That's the basic gist of the competition, which would be the first of its kind ever. It sounds pretty fun, and frankly, since I've long maintained NE is home to the best parkmakers on the planet, I want to validate that claim.

I love the idea. Although I do not want to participate, I say, definately do it. Sounds great.

Besides I am pretty sure we'd win barring some randoms hopping on the RCT2.com bandwagon.

Although chapel's statement brings up a good point, go ahead and mention if you'd be doing this for NE or another site.

i wouldn't do it, but go right ahead, of course.

I would join, if I had time in February/March. Too bad.

I would do it, may bee a bit busy with school but RCT comes first.
If i do it, i would probably be representing rctcompetition.com or just about any other site...

usually i'm against making rct a competition, but for ne's rehabilitation and a strengthed community i think this is a good idea.
also because ne needs to get a stronger reputation. n00bs who want to get into the rct scene can use our victory, which is beyond all questions, to orientate.

end of february is when my government-forced civil service (my alternative to army which is what you normally must do for the 9 months after having finished school) ends. from then on, i am, for the first time in my life, 100% free. no school, no job, no nothing. my life begins.
so yes, i would have time.
however i don't think my rct style is any worth for competitions. not only that it is ll (very unpopular these days especially on other sites that have no idea of rct history) and that i'm not as skilled but also because i might not be able to build under time pressure. i still have enough of that from h2h2. still, if posix work is wanted, i will give it a shot.
apart from that i would like to contribute and support in any possible way i can.

If TN is doing it, I'll be doing it too.

Of course if they aren't, then I'd be happy to represent NE.
