Ronaldinho should win it, although I think Henry is a superior player the way Ronaldinho has single handedly destroyed Real Madrid (twice) should win it alone. Shevchenko I can't really comment on, don't follow Italian football that much. -

Might have been meant to be quoted.
Did u just copy the 1st sentence from my post? or coincidence?Excellent news as a Man Utd fan. Only 4 points behind the gooners now.
When that goal when in, It felt as good as when Man Utd score. Alonso great strike too.
All I say, Cristiano is a god....
Anyway, all I say is "Gary Neville is a red, is a red is a red, Gary Neville is a red, we hate scousers"
Looking forward to seeing the goals on match of the day, I'm sky deprived here at uni.

Ronaldinho should win it but I have a feeling Henry might for what Arsenal achieved this year rather then for his personal play. -
Stargazer Offline
Well for me its Schevchenko by a country mile.
The first reason he should win it, is that he's not gonna get any younger and lets be honest, on current form Ronaldinho's gonna win it next year (and probably at least once more).
Secondly, 3 out of the 4 seasons Schevchenko has been at Milan he has been top goal scorer in Serie A. "So has Henry in the Premiership", you might say. But the defenses in the Premiership are laughable. Henry is brilliant at ripping West Brom, Norwich, Blackburn, Southampton apart. Schevchenko scores against world class defences, Barcelona twice this season, Roma, Juventus, Lazio last season. He scores no matter who he's playing against.
Henry however when push comes to shove, he always plays shit. For example this weekend, Arsenal on poor form, they need Henry to produce some magic. He plays shocking, misplacing simple passes and failing to have any impact. Similar questions can be asked of his performance in the Man Utd fixture earlier in the season. The numerous Champions League matches where he's under-performed, including both quarter-finals against Chelsea, the FA Cup match vs Man Utd. He has not produced when its needed. Again the same pattern in Euro 2004. Played well against a shocking Switzerland team, not brilliant against Croatia or England. France would of probably qualified against Greece if Henry could head the ball, however he missed. Henry is world-class against the rabble but distinctly average against good, organised defences.
However Schevchenko was key in handing Milan Serie A last season. He scored 24 goals. Great, Henry scored 30+ and countless assists, but the fact is, in the big matches he was crap. Schevchenko scored a brace in the first Scudetto decider, allowing Milan to beat Roma 2-1. He scored again against Roma to seal the trophy. However against Deportivo, in the 4-0 thrashing, he was awful. Fair enough. But the whole team basically collapsed and Schevchenko was nowhere. There's a case for argument there. He didn't play in Euro 2004, but has almost single-handedly, propelled Ukraine to the top of their World Cup 2006 group. Which includes Greece, Denmark and Turkey. He has already scored 19 goals in 20 games this season, more than Henry in less matches. And again has produced in the big matches (Hat-trick vs Lazio in the Super Cup and again a brace against Lazio when they were down to ten men in the Stadio Olimpico). He is basically why Milan are hanging on to Juventus still in Serie A. He also scores goals with his left, right and head from every angle unlike Henry (whom if he could score with his left foot, would of put Arsenal 2-1 up at the weekend)
Let Ronaldinho win a trophy (which Barcelona certainly will) and then let him win it. Schevchenko deserves it more than anyone (except Maldini) this year and if he doesn't come back to Italy with it, FIFA risk losing all their integerity. Henry is great, but he's no Schevchenko.
For more evidence, just go to Planetmilan.com and go to downloads. There's all the video's you could ever need. Watch especially his hat-trick vs Lazio and his two against Lazio, later. Absolutely stunning.
I've made my case.

Henry is the best striker in the world at the minute, end of discussion
I'd have to disagree. Adriano has been playing better than Henry this season. Just in the UK the media over-hype so many players. On the continent, Henry is viewed as a good player, not the worlds best. Becuase to be world-class you have to perform on the world stage, and Henry hasn't done that. Just becuase he scores against shit teams, does not mean he's the best striker in the world. Gallas, a good but not brilliant defender marked him out the game last season. It shouldn't be that easy to contain the "best stiker on the planet", should it.
Being a Liverpool fan, you must of noticed Henry was shite at the weekend, when he doesn't play well, Arsenal don't play well. And that has happened far to many times this season.
Adriano has single-handedly get his team qualified for the second-round of the Champions League (unlike Arsenal) was top-scorer at Copa America (unlike Henry at Euro 2004) and his January transfer from Parma was the catalyst for Inter's return to the Champions League. Untill recently he had scored 28 goals in 29 games in all competitions. Surely that warrants some recognition.
Arsenal went un-beaten in the Premiership for a season, a momentus achievement but untill Henry performs in the big matches, he's not gonna staple his reputation as a world-class stiker. End of Story. -

Whats the idea in chasing a friggin ball throughout 90 mins and maybe seeing like 1 goal which decides the whole game...So boring. -

Bayern are good, just think that you lack that cutting edge. Your defence is a bit suspect, Lucio is very overrated, while Ballack has yet to hit the peaks of his virtuoso performances in 2001 for Bayern Leverkusan. Lahm is decent full back, but you need to bring some new faces in. Ze Roberto is getting shit and Makaay has lacked this season.
And you have to get rid of Kahn, he lets you down in all the big matches. You have the spine of a good side, it just needs some freshening up.
w33maniac...it must be boring if its the worlds most popular sport. Soccer is a sport that can be boring (and my God it is America as your far too Adu-reliant). But in Europe its a game that is when played well, is awe inspiring to watch. -

If you don't like "soccer" fuck off out of this thread. Although I would point out that it is the world's most popular sport, and just because it involves running around non-stop for 90 minutes does not mean that it's rubbish just because obese americans can't manage it.Whats the idea in chasing a friggin ball throughout 90 mins and maybe seeing like 1 goal which decides the whole game...So boring.
Henry has only been at 70% this season, he's said so himself. And on the whole Adriano vs. Henry thing, remember the last Inter vs. Arsenal match they both played in? Yeh, Henry hat-trick 4-1 if I remember correctly. To be honest, Adriano seriously struggles to get into the Brazilian team, what with Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka in the frame. And in a couple of years Robinho will be placed above him as well, I imagine. Adriano's good, but he's yet to perform on a stage bigger than serie A, which Henry undoubtedly has.
As for FC Bayern, please please please don't sell us Owen Hargreaves. -

If he's dutch... don't get me started on the dutch. I mean, there's only two things I can't stand, people intolerant of other cultures and the dutch. -

Adriano will become one of the best, he has amazing potential.
But then you say about his champions league form, yes it is very good. Look at inter in the league. Hes not performing so the team arent. They are unbeaten but have drawn something like 11 out of 15 games.
Henry deserves it due to the last 2 years. Zidane won it last year and it blatantly should have been henry -
Stargazer Offline
Firstly
ajax* you are a fucking idiot aren't you? Adriano was not even playing for Inter at the 5-1, where Henry scored only 2 goals against a shocking Inter side, he was still at Parma and was injured.
Scarface, I admit Henry was robbed last year. But if were counting the last two years, it would be called "World Player of the Last Two Years" not "World Player Of The Year". You would also have to include Schevchenko winning the Champions League with AC Milan, and scoring the winning Penalty in the process.
And errr..Adriano not performing, say it with me, 9 goals this season, that's shocking isn't it? Its got alot more to do with Inters defence than anything else. Secondly Robinho will never be as good as Adriano simply because he lacks the Physique, he's a scrawny little thing.
Henry has only been at 70% this season? So how about his poor matches last season vs Chelsea and Man Utd? -

I think the best young talanted player is kaká.
Does anybody play the game soccer manager 2003/4/5? -
Stargazer Offline
Kaka' makes me feel all funny in side, woops!
Great young talent and a bargain at 6 million pounds. Has the most lethal long-shot in the world (witness his goal against Empoli last season), a very unique stop-start dribbling technique and of course that Brazilian flair, but with a European edge. He's going to go very far.
Fear Brazil at WC2006 people.
