Maybe some of the trees are a bit too orderly. Think you'd want to go as organic as possible with this kind of thing. So more uncontrolled underbrush, mild rock work, trees here and there, not in lines or otherwise man made looking patterns.
Those ruin structures are soo effective in their simplicity. Coupled with the canvas roofs, that stuff is magic. Also loving the mossy green details just around where the water meets the stone/brick of the ruins. It looks so natural, damn.
While I see how this foliage might be too perfect, and the way you've done it looks to be a very intentional; I think it enhances the scene for me. It almost gives off the vibe of a well-respected-but-dysfunctional-local-landmark-being-overtaken-by-a-European-colony, who brought in the bulldozers to introduce their classical ways of gardening.
