Screen is good; not a massive fan of the landscaping but the architecture is very nice.
Description is one of the most depressing/sad things I've read on this website in a long time. Think you really need to have a look at yourself and ask why you're actually here. You've been given another chance, don't waste it.
I find these replies really quite frustrating. I don't know how to do multiple quotes in one reply so i'll just do it the old fashioned way.
"I'll go even further: using open-source software and making money from it is ethically questionable." - I use a lot of open source software when creating music, art, and videos. it is not ethically questionable to use open source software to make money. it is literally part of the point of being open source. additionally, how much money do you expect xeccah to make that would make it ethically questionable? thousands?
"I think the highlight is essentially putting park downloads (which are free on NE) behind a paywall.
I think this must be parody, not even Xaccah is arrogant enough to think getting a slightly earlier look at her projects is worth actual money." - unless i am very mistaken, xeccah can only hold their own content behind the paywall. if you don't like it, don't engage. you lose nothing. i am literally 100% certain that all of xeccahs releases will become available on NE in the normal fashion.
"Description is one of the most depressing/sad things I've read on this website in a long time. Think you really need to have a look at yourself and ask why you're actually here. You've been given another chance, don't waste it." - the description purely offers a view behind the curtain. have you guys seriously never supported a creator who makes otherwise free content on patreon? onlyfans? direct donation? it is absolutely barmy that a perfectly normal feature of the wider internet has seemingly flown over everyones heads.
I like and respect all the members in this thread, and will continue to. if you don't like the idea of paying for rct content, do not click the link. if you want to see more of xeccahs stuff and want to support a creator who has otherwise been creating for free, then go ahead and support over there.
there is a cost of living crisis the world over. i do not resent a single human being the right to try and diversify their revenue streams, or (god forbid) try and support themselves by doing something we can all admit they are genuinely talented at.
i must repeat, patreon is a colossal platform with thousands of creators getting money for their creative passions. You have all heard of onlyfans. this is absolutely normal in the outside world.
and i will repeat, if you don't like it, just don't click the link. we are not about to watch the slow decay of RCT content because someone has made a patreon.

I mean, it is kind of questionable? Even if the OpenRCT creators are okay with this being full open source and everyone can profit of it, this still leaves the object and ride makers. Like 95% of anything Xeccah will use was made by different people who never authorized the use of their intellectual property to make money. Also, how much money will Ethan recieve, considering that he built parts of a park that is included in the patreon.

Yeah, that's my problem. On the Patreon it is a big deal that people who spend 5$ or 8$ will get full scale screenshots or savegames. While they are free on NE.
So either Xeccah hopes that people unfamiliar with NE are dumb enough to fall for it.
Or she plans to eventually take stuff off NE which she will never do since she is addicted to the "fame" and "admiration" this site supplies her with.

I think that usually should start on the side of the viewer. Or out of some need for money. We all know that the tiny amounts of money Xeccah could potentially make will probably make no difference in her outpu.
It also doesn't help that NE has been completely money free to this point. Deurklink has a Patreon, but as far as I can tell he never advertised it on NE. Hell, when the topic of server costs came up the admins declined the userbase's offer to contribute, IIRC.

We are all doing it for free. Do you really want every active NE member to start a patreon? I know Xaccah thinks she is a god given gift to NE, but there are several better and/or more productive members out there.

Are you sure you aren't American? You might like the idea of living in a hypercapitalistic hellhole in which everyone always wants to squeeze every cent out of everything they are doing, but I don't.
i must repeat, patreon is a colossal platform with thousands of creators getting money for their creative passions. You have all heard of onlyfans. this is absolutely normal in the outside world.
Usually these creative passions are less self serving, though. Also, in general, creators on patreon market towards people who can't do what they do.
yall gonna be pissed when you learn that Twitch streaming exists
Look, you don't have to come into every thread just to defend Xeccah, we know your head is way up her ass.
Also, twitch streaming (or youtube videos, looking at Deurklink) actually generate content that isn't self-serving.
The debate is quite interesting. I'm on the side of respecting the creators who put so much energy into the game; new parks, new tricks, new content. But what exactly does "respecting" mean?
If anything, it seems this post was made in the wrong place. I see lots of creators mention their patreons and/or other links on the YouTube Videos. But I am sure they are shared and available elsewhere. It's really easy to see the value a number of these channels and competition groups bring to the overall experience of the game in its current state.
Then you have creators who do not have any channels or apparent RCT related income stream - and there objects, rides, palettes, etc. etc. expands the canvas and the potential of what can be done.
And all of this is built piece by piece on top of a tapestry of talent from the creator of the original to the first sets of custom objects.
I think the screen capture is fantastic. I like the blue.
Beyond that, I'm reading the views with interest. Lots of food for thought so far. I think it is a good debate to have.
the description purely offers a view behind the curtain. have you guys seriously never supported a creator who makes otherwise free content on patreon? onlyfans? direct donation? it is absolutely barmy that a perfectly normal feature of the wider internet has seemingly flown over everyones heads.
The description offers no view behind the curtain. It's begging for money. There is nothing on that Patreon that I cannot find here. There are no 'making of' posts, there are no 'behind the scenes'. I have no issue with monetisation of something if it offers something different or new, and if I don't want to partake, I won't. I do have an issue with the thought that someone thinks their rct is so much better than everyone else's that people should pay for the privilege of seeing it.
i think literally everyone who spends as much time as i do and who is as skilled or more skilled as me should have thr option of monetizing their work without criticism or controversy.
ive had entire sections of my life where ive out more rct hours in than work, and rct is unilaterally more stressful than actual work, and i think something similar can be felt by many others.

Where in the comment for this screen, or on the Patreon does she say "im better than you, and no one else is allowed to make a Patreon?". It seems like any sense of superiority/exclusivity is just projection, and like yall are taking something you had a negative reaction to and trying to find a moral justification for it.
Also musicians, movie makers, people who play other video games do this stuff all the time. Are they arrogant gatekeepers too? What makes RCT different than these creative mediums?
SSSammy said it best and I appreciate he did, as someone who has been ostracized from traditional employment and forced to try monetizing my other skills. Consider yourselves lucky you can spend so much time on a hobby without having to weigh whether it will aid in your survival.

again, the solution to this issue is not partaking. treat it just as you would a tv show that you don't enjoy. do you wander into hmv and complain to passers-by that you can't believe people would charge actual gbp for a sherlock box set.
i am still so very confused as to how people think this affects them personally

Also, you're entitled to your opinions, but this sort of personal comment is deeply uncomfortable and kinda violating, and if it's cool for internet strangers to talk to me like this on here I'm not sure this is the type of place I wanna be around...

- Using a free website made by and for RCT fans to promote your patreon: priceless

I'll go even further: using open-source software and making money from it is ethically questionable.
