The archy here just feels so absolutely genuine and fresh, its really quite incredible. The amphitheater especially is so perfectly done.
Only thing I'm not 100% on is the foliage/landscape directly around the loop, perhaps you could do something a little different there to highlight it a bit more. Same goes for the 4 flower boxes in the middle square there, not really bad just not sure if they vibe as well as the rest of the screenshot.
Fuck, dude. Those flags on the theater are just... wow.
Anyway, I do agree with Russ on that middle square here. Ultimately that should be a centerpiece for this little area and a good element in the foreground for guests approaching the theater. Swap the four trees for a bigger fountain and maybe nix the one on the right for a couple/few squares of trees there instead.
I don't think the loop needs more highlight, if anything maybe it's the fact that it's black that's hindering it (but the black works overall, still, somehow). Maybe some more #stevetrees.
Also, similar to my comment on the top spin building from the last screen: the build to the right of the theater looks like a group of three separate facades, but without deco pieces to break them up it almost comes off as amateur. Keep it as a singular facade or find a way to mask the transitions of the wall pieces a bit better.
And if you have flowers in front of something that doesn't need a fence to block guests (like if the flowers are in front of a building), don't use them. Keep them around the loop of course but the building on the right doesn't need them.
That amphitheater is one of the best NCSO structures I've seen yet, and the closest thing in this park so far to the Luna Park aesthetic. Rome is my favorite area that you've shown because it's clean without being sterile; the buildings are alive and so is everything around them. Most NCSO builders seem to overlook the raw power of glass walls, so it's great to see someone using them to their full potential!
For the hypothetical centerpiece that has been suggested, you could easily get away with just 3x3 open grass and a Roman statue in the middle (with its back against the theater). From a guest's perspective, it would look very powerful with the theater in the background.
This is the kind of NCSO I was hoping people would do when RCT2 came out. Just full of win.
Feels wrong to criticise anything about this screen, yet for me the track/path interaction is very hot and cold. The loop and diagonal bits are wonderful, the rest feels slightly weird to me.
thanks for the comments! good points about the plaza, I will try something a bit more monumental there.
This is also my favourite area of the park. It did take quite a bit of work to get to where it is now though.. Here are some outtakes:
1. Old version from a previous map (from some time in 2017). The approach I was going for was a more dirty Rome, with a warmer colour palette, but it didn't really work:
2. From when the RMC was in the roman area, not China:
3. Testing to find a nice off-white colour and texture palette (This switch towards a more pristine, bright white rome was partly inspired by liams 'Empire' screenshot):
4. This is from a couple of months ago and how the area was laid out until quite recently when I got back into the game. At this point the amphitheatre was this awkward theming structure surrounding a spiral coaster:
As always, very nice work here. Glad to see progress on this park! You have such a good eye for object selection and creative object use, your LL pedigree shows through here. Also very interesting to see your process screens, I must say I really like that orange building. In antiquity, Roman buildings would've been much more colourful, though of course they usually aren't today since the colours have faded through the millennia, and anyway a real themepark would likely be themed to that conventional idea of Rome as a "pristine", white marble architectural environment. I very much like that spiral coaster too, and the way you've enclosed it with that collonade sort of thing. If you've replaced it with the amphitheatre in the main screenshot, consider rebuilding it somewhere else in the park! The red track adds a nice touch of colour in an otherwise rather monochrome environment. I'd try a brighter colour scheme for the Schwarzkopf in the main screen too, for that same reason. At least an alternative color scheme for the loops (red and/or gold, maybe?) could do good.
