Originally my idea was to make a direct homage to one of the levels in Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver, a great but very small game from 1998. When I saw that I wouldn't have access to a huge amount of objects I realistically needed to make that happen, I switched gears to a more generally themed Hot Wheels kids park instead.
No RCT inspiration from this one, but a collection of ideas from real-life small theme parks, particularly in Southern California where I grew up. There's an arcade, indoor go kart racing track, a People Mover style tracked ride, one mildly intense ride themed to Stunt Track Driver, and another homage to an early Hot Wheels game that I played as a kid, Hot Wheels Crash. I admit the latter is uh... not aging particularly well.

I named it "Mattel World", since that corporation owns the Hot Wheels IP but they of course also own Barbie. I thought cramming both into the 20x20 plot would be too much, but there's a suggestion that this is just a snippet of the full park.

I do not say why you said it, some time ago I thought of how to do a Hot Wheels park, but I had a hard time finding appropriate objects, and my ability does not help. Your screen seems very cool, I hope to see this park I was really curious
Yo did you ever play Planet Hot Wheels? It was like an online racing multiplayer version of Stunt Track Driver. Man, I used to smoke kids all day in that game.
Crash reminds me of the early Burnout games where the whole point was to create the biggest wreck.
As for the RCT work, it's tough with such little room to work, but that's the challenge, and I think you did well. I like the big windows on the blue and orange building, but I'm not sure the air duct-looking shapes add much.
Who's hosting these multiplayer servers? Wouldn't mind getting involved.
Actually reminds me a bit of one of those Kid's Museums or Science Center exhibits I always used to visit as a kid, just with the colors and layers and such. Cool stuff.

No, I played a few Hot Wheels games around this time (can't remember the names of the other ones) but then I switched in to RCT and StarCraft for a long time, and then later to racing games like NFS:MW, NFS:C, and GRID.

Thanks. I sort of agree on the air ducts - I went back and forth with them and decided they helped break up the flat roofs a bit better considering the center of the plot is just so busy.

Definitely what I was going for.
Its very colorful, but i definitly like this! It fits all together very well
Theme this time around was "childhood". Map is broadly NCSO but with a lot of key pieces missing, like certain blocks, foliage, and clutter pieces, and replaced with a smattering of quarter-tile blocks and replaced with some very random CSO.

Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver is the bomb. I could never do the basement track well enough to get it unlocked though.
Same with the treehouse track of 2.
