Finally, someone takes the time to build a detailed miniature golf course! You've nailed all the small details here, and the rockwork really brings it out.
For an even "beachier" look, you may try interspersing more brown tall grass in with that which is already there. The course itself would also have a cleaner look with mowed grass (either with the CS texture or just the standard "mow grass" button), which would contrast the rugged dune landscape even further.
Normally I despise this shade of green for grass, and although it doesn't look completely comfortable to me, you definitely kind of made it work. It looks like a real dune landscape to me. I love how the ice cream sign on the main path is so isolated, that just feels right in a sparse landscape like this.
Thanks all for the kind replies and the suggestions! I'll take them to heart!
@dr dirt: the counters are a good idea, those walls were something I had my doubts about but counters would look better. Thanks!
@Terry Inferno: thanks for the suggestion, but I tried some brown tall grass already and I thought it made it look too messy. I do like the mowed grass idea, definitely will use that.
@Liampie: I can safely say this area and this colour was an experiment, but I think it worked fine even if it still looks a little uneasy. The tan rocks are a bit too tan, true, but that's a quick fix. Thanks to using a new colour selection, I'm gonna give them a more sunbleached, tacky 1980s look.
The houses on top of the courses remind me of a minigolf place that used to be by my house. It was the best minigolf course I ever played, it had simple but interesting geometry, beautiful flowers, and a number of houses that you had to putt through. Too bad it's now a strip mall.

This is great, I love the setting of this.. only suggestion is to make the windows next to the course open with counters and maybe some putters on it.
