A little behind the scenes of the billboard making process...
The only way to make these things look good and fit the game aesthetic is to literally build them in the game using the isometric view and just overlay the text in Photoshop and nothing else. This isn't the final take. I realized later on that I had to use that ridiculous default. Mr. Bones object. Mr Bones is the official Fear Fest Mascot now. Tell your friends. lol
The coaster is supposed to be Anzu (the yellow invert), but I took some creative liberties and made it blood red in the ad to make it look a bit creepier. Six Flags has done far worse. lol
Amazing job man ! It feels so good to see new fresh content like that ! I feel like the coaster supports could have been great in another more popping color but it's nice like that too, it fits the warmth feel of the park.
The latest in rct construction... making entire buildings into objects. Who needs to remove to the object limit!?!?! Next thing you know we'll be making entire sections as one object.
Nice work Bill, looks awesome! Can't wait until this is released. Should be a spotlight when it's the Parks Download page in 2021!
This park could definitely used some mowed grass objects.
Haha, this is great stuff. Signs like this add so much character and completeness to the park.
Though, I see that you made fill tile balcony fence objects, but I'm dissapointed you didn't include the fence base posts with them. Makes the fences feel 100% more complete and realistic in my eyes.
My god man this is ridiciulous. I really do hope we can make a new Disaster Bench after this is released with all the building objects from this park and Fisch his Riverland.

I have a lot of fences like that over by Conquistador, but personally I thought a simple steel fence made more sense for a backstage area and parking lot than an expensive, fancy fence with stonework. It was actually never an object saving move, just a design choice. Now that you mention it, I might switch it up near the entry plaza though. I'm (get your groans ready) on the fence about it...
... I'll show myself out.
Is this park close to being finished? It looks great.
It's getting there, I'd say it's around 70% right now, though it's a slower process than it was at first since I have to stop and make so many objects. That's the bad news, the good news is I've been working on it a ton lately.
This is amazing.
Great work, well done.
Any chance we can get a tutorial in how to make banners for RCT?
Thanks.
Thanks!
I could see doing tutorials. I'm still learning a lot about the object editor myself to be honest. I also used Photoshop to angle it and overlay the text, but you can probably make an angles banner in paint. The object editor does have a feature that angles things for you, but it sucks at it and it almost never works.
As for the text, I found that it works best if you up the opacity a bit. Let it blend into the game aesthetic, never go with a plain primary color or white... then it sticks out like a sore thumb.

You could do some interesting things with that. There'd be no limit on the level of detail you can include because you're using the same amount of object data regardless and you can pretty much ignore the grid (except where you have to line up with sprites that can't go in a scenery object, which is mostly peeps and track). You could even pre-bake lighting effects like shadows and ambient occlusion into the sprites.

Yeah, it also allows you to go beyond the limited number of object slots too, in a sense. I find with detailing my parks, I'm always cutting it very tight with the amount of SS objects I'm using as they add so many great finishing touches. But if I only need one or two specialty objects on one building, making it into LS object, that cuts down the need to skimp on object slots.
