Description
At this point the majority of the track pieces are done. I have a handful of non-inversion pieces and all of the inversions still to implement.
The sprites are also now split correctly (whereas previously the transitions would all glitch). However, I did change the splitting from the original on the diagonal and sloped bank transitions, because the original made no sense and was causing glitches.
I haven't fixed the issue with diagonals but it's much less visible on the RMC track than it was on the Intamin. - Full-Size

Awesome! Only issue I have with it is that the pieces hit by the sun appear to be a bit too bright for my taste. But generally it looks brilliant and is extremely well done! Great job.

That's amazing ! I agree about the tracks being a bit too bright.
Otherwise, the screen is also very nice, awesome layout.

this track looks truly amazing! one question though, is this all custom supported or is this coded like wooden coasters?
posix Online
Reflections are definitely overdone. Otherwise nice.

Here it is with reduced specular:
and here it is with none:
Personally, I don't like it with no specular at all, but I do think the original had too much (I was going to change it before taking screenshots, but forgot).
This is all custom supported. I can enable the default wooden supports, but since I'm also testing Intamin track, I've left it turned off for now (support blockers can remove the metal supports but don't fully remove the wooden ones, I've found).
Also, there's a few issues with the default supports that have yet to be addressed, mostly the fact that the track doesn't line up with them.

I'd make an inbetween of reduced and no specular.

I like how the transitions look so smooth between the track pieces. With custom made supports this could look even more spectacular.
Good work.

So good

Here it is
I wasn't planning on custom supports, and I don't really know what would be involved in doing so. It may well be more effort than it's worth, even if it would look better.

^ That's perfect imo.
I love how smooth this looks. I am loving every single bit of this so far, mate. I can't wait for the eventual release! Who's with me!?
You get lots of love for this one! Keep it up, man.

This is excellent work. I know you said you have not worked on inversions yet, but would it be possible to implement some of the overbanked turns these designs typically use?
spacek531 Offline
The issue with overbanked turns is that there are no vehicle sprites for them, and the current save format does not allow for any new elements to be added.

I was working under the assumptions that 1) this coaster would only be implemented once the new save format was in use, and 2) that because its a custom train you can make whatever sprites you want. The sprites for an overbanked turn have to be pretty similar to those for a barrel roll, right?
X7123M3-256 Offline
There are no overbanked turn pieces in the game, and new ones cannot be added without a new file format. The goal is to add a new track type, not new elements (as the latter isn't possible right now).
I can put whatever sprites I want in the object file but I can't make the game use them. Each sprite is associated with a flag that tells the game what sprites an object file contains; all these flags are in use.
