Wow - this is really lovely. I'd say that this is your best screen. Great effort!

Oh god please don't make Phoenix green.

Really nice otherwise, maybe change up some of the roofs though, using the same texting for all of them can get a bit boring. Also kind of feel the flume station is a bit sloppy but I don't know what the real one looks like.

I think this is really good; the foliage really creates atmosphere for me.

Agree with g-force's points; plus, even if it's a recreation, i would still prioritise making things aesthetically pleasing.

I quite like it, the foliage definitely is important overhere and you did it quite good.

Otherwise I agree with G, changing roof textures could do a lot here.

This looks really clean.  Well done on the flume, but the grey accents on that house throw me off a bit.  Also try fading the trees into grasses and bushes as you get close to the edges of the forests.  Unless of course this is how the forest is IRL, then good job.

    lovely stuff

    Now we're talking!

What a great looking screen! I do recommend to listen to Ion's advice about the foliage. Also the water basin where the flume ends looks kinda boring. Maybe some reeds or other stuff could help fix that? Or make it less tidy?

    Good stuff!

Very cool stuff, reminds me of G Force work.

The only thing I don't really like is the white house on the top left corner of the screen, not sure if it's the height, the color or even if it's in the right location but it looks weird to me compared to the other stuff you showed us lately.

I love the thumbnail you captured, it's lovely with the splash and the cool rockwork.

One of the best artificial rock tunnels I've seen so far; I was so focused on it, I almost overlooked the Hefty bags by the dumpsters.

I know nothing about Knoebels, but I love the detail you're starting to think about more and more. Definitely agree about Phoenix's colors; even if it's more realistic, some aesthetics just don't translate 1:1 into RCT.

Just gonna pop in and say that I've been following this from the start, and Knoebles is also my home park, so I'm super excited to see how this ends up. You're doing fantastic work. I agree with everyone else about how you should just paint The Phoenix brown in game.

You should play with land textures. Make grass/mud the default. Grass where it borders the paths, and maybe a path of pure mud here and there. I think it will look better than just endles green.

Okay, I left way too much time between posting and replying with comments, so this is going to be a literal wall of text.

Roof textures - This seems to always happen with my screens, but I always seem to post screens with mostly the same roof textures. I am mixing it up throughout the park, but I can change either the flume station or bathroom building here and that would provide more contrast.

Flume station - Definitely can be improved. It doesn't have the same vibe as it does IRL right now, so I'll work on it some more.

@Ion about the trees - IRL, the park is built in the forest, and they actually take great care to not cut trees down unless they absolutely have to. The trees really do come right up next to the path, and even into the path in some places.

Edit: @Julow (sorry I missed your comment!) That house is a bit weird, but it's like that IRL. It's kinda interesting when you go over the first drop on the flume and see it from the top of the hill. I don't know if it's a house or storage shed or something IRL, but I decided to make it a house. It will make sense in the context of the rest of the park, in that the park is surrounded by little cottages (and many more of these are in the park, just not in this screen).

@Jappy - I agree about the water basin, I'm just not sure how to improve it atm. I have some small fountains in it (you can see in the right side of the screen), but they aren't enough. Reeds won't look right because it's not a natural basin (and not made to look like one either). Maybe some whitewater near the splashdown area would help.

@Liampie - Completely agreed, in most of the other foliage-heavy areas and forest areas I had already done this, and just had forgotten here.

And finally, the color of the Phoenix. You guys all really want brown, and I actually hate how it looks in-game when painted brown. The coaster really is a dull green IRL (see the pictures), and it's what sets it apart from Twister, which is unpainted. I thought I landed on a nice compromise by making part of the track brown, but I suppose not. I'll keep wrestling with myself and see what I end up with in the end. This might be a "Helix in Lagom's Liseberg" type of thing.

Finally, thanks all for the compliments and critiques! Helpful as always! =)

Consider making a new palette to give Phoenix a unique colour - a slightly greenish brown. It looks perfectly brown on the pictures. Otherwise, just pick different shades of brown for Phoenix and Twister? Pale brown for Twister, poop brown for Phoenix. Definitely not this, god!
  • saxman1089%s's Photo

Twister might look better in the tan brown (light brown? I forget what its called in-game) anyway now that I'm looking at pictures of it. Then I can make Phoenix the darker brown and it might be okay that way. I think I've literally used every color somewhere on the map, so changing palettes might screw me over in other places.
