The barrels are so cute.
Bonus feature: all 3 rides can have trains of 1 car long (i.e. just the tractor). This was done specifically so the objects can be all-around more useful to the NE community.
You can always hack a 1 car train, so having that allowed just saves you turning on the cheat. The value in the object file just sets the defaults. The game is actually very flexible - you can reorder the cars and even mix cars from different objects.
I had some strange experiences with the cheat where I couldn't set trains to shorter than what would be 1 car - if you enable the cheat on the eurofighter you cannot set the train length to 2 cars, it has to be 3 or more.

You're right, I forgot the cheat behaves like that. Still, you can force one car, just not with that cheat (which means it's a pain in the ass, but still).
How do I use this without the train track?
