I can see some efforts to place trees in groups and have a selection of 4-5 tree types, so thats a good starting point. I'd try some lighter colours like in the birch tree or the european larch. Also build a bit cleaner next to paths (less weed) and messier far away (grass/dirt-texture). Also have a look at this http://www.nedesigns...cape-tutorials/
Honestly the best way to learn foliage is to copy someone else's work and then eventually start being a little more daring and creative as you get comfortable with it.
I'd suggest picking a random realistic Spotlight park and copying their tree selection, methods of clumping them together and underbrush selection and choices until you get the hang of it.
I agree with Coaster Bill, that's probably the best way for you to improve it. I wasn't clearly a fan of the bridge you showed last time but I see some potential.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the thoughtful feedback, from what I've seen it's what makes this community so good.
I really like the subtractive space idea and im gonna tinker around with that, as far as copying work, is there any players who are reknown for their foliage skills?

G_Force, Liampie, Louis!, Gee-Whizz, ][ntamin, and Jappy are good places to start
Final product- pretty happy with how it turned out, thanks again for all the help.
I'm having trouble getting the black tile object into my save file. I tried moving the .dat of the black tile into my openRCT folder but it didn't show up in game. Am I doing something wrong?

That's actually quite a nice area, even though it's very simple and crude. For foliage, I recommend looking at

Are you using the object selector in game? It should probably appear in your miscellaneous folder on the far right.

Here is a screencap of my OpenRct2 folder and in game scenery menu. No miscellanous tab on the far right

gotcha. thanks a bunch
When I submit, how much of the background should I black out? I started this park on build your own six flags so there's a ton of empty space

I'd say cut it off early at the low part of the last line of trees.
