Description
Finally have enough done in one section post another screenshot. This is a little nook in the Star Cup. Primarily you can see DK Mountain in the upper & right corners, based on various DK tracks from Mario Kart. There's also the Star Station for the Mario Train, a DK themed dining/gift section, as well as a small corner of Grumble Volcano on the bottom left.

I'm really excited to see this park BSG.

This could benefit from a little more focus on the rockwork (though you don't have to go crazy) but otherwise i love it.

DK Mountain is my favourite track, so I am immediatly excited to see the finished project!
I like it so much already!

...Interesting, I do wonder why there's been no DKC landmarks in a MK game. There's been courses based on him since like 64.

Also, it is kinda confusing when you title tracks directly on actual tracks. GCN DK Mountain (Remade in Wii), and Wii Grumble Volcano (Remade in 8 )

^ Of course I'm naming them after actual tracks, that's the whole point of this park. I'm pulling the name from the real in-game tracks from the Mario Kart Series, and using elements from various similar tracks to complete the look, as well as adding my own twist on them, plus giving it an rct-feel. Convoluted?... perhaps, but not really... so far they're looking pretty darn delicious if you ask me!
@coasterbill - what do you think i should change with the rock work? add more LOTR mountains, more 1K ruins?

This is probably the weakest of the screens so far. Probably just the generic-ness with all the green and tropical foliage, compared to the much more unusual stuff you were doing earlier.
I'd probably focus on less "theme park stuff" and more Mario Kart content, rather than the inverse which it seems you're doing.
Like Bill I think the landscaping could be better, just seems a bit uninspired, but that could be the angle.

a hard ditto from me on this, almost surprised to see this much space taken up by non-kart content. it doesn't scream "nintendo" at me, either. i couldn't guess the park from the thumbnail, something that was very easy with the past screens. build what you want, obviously, but don't lose sight of what makes this park unique!

Agreed with G Force and Dr_Dude on this one. Stuff like DK's treehouse (which is fucking fantastic) needs to be more of a focus like I've said previously. Just keep at it, man!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I don't quite see what you see. This screen is loaded with Nintendo/Mario Kart stuff:
- Star Station = my very own custom made Mario Star
- DK's Treehouse & face
- Wiggler's Ride (bottom left/center)
- The Banana Peel Restaurant, featuring the banana peel from Mario Kart (complete with Banana roof and Banana Umbrellas)
- Middle building is Diddy Kong's shop (maybe needs a sign)
- Last building is Funky Kong's sunglasses Shack
- The gigantic DK Mountain in the background (obviously), the top starts with grey rock and progressively changes to thick jungle, which characterizes this particular track in-game
- Go-karts
- Also, not seen are custom made DK barrels
I'll see what I can do to make these things more obvious, but trust me, everything in this screen isn't just from memory or merely building "theme park stuff", I've done plenty of research as I've built each portion of this map. Keep in mind of course that this is actually a Mario Kart Theme Park, so there needs to be both aspects included in the park.

I have to wonder if you built a barrel cannon, since there's one on both GCN DK Mountain and Wii DK Summit (US)/DK Snowboard Cross (EU)

I wonder if I already did build one, but perhaps you can't see it in this screenshot? Hmmmm... since it is in fact iconic for DK tracks... possibly I already considered it... well, I guess we'll never know.

Also, which appearance was the main inspiration for DK's Treehouse? It's appeared in most DK games (since Country) and in atleast 3 Smash games.

Theming looks great, composition not so much - landscaping and paths are too square/blocky imo. Very fun screen and project though.
