@Avanine: You're absolutely right about the two white entryways. I think I actually had the dome begin a little higher to begin with but the scale didn't seem quite right with respect to the two vertical towers at the front. I can see how it looks squat though, and perhaps making the dome and base about the same height will help.

The problem with the dome not being steep enough is partly due to aesthetics, if wooden coaster, monster truck, and invert track (which might be changed to looping coaster as the lift chain is closer to monster truck) could be vertical then I would 100% have done that. However, getting the vertical beginning for the dome itself would require objects which don't have the texture that I want. Also, I feel that coaster track allows for a more rounded look, which objects don't accomplish quite as well in my opinion.

I've always wanted to do the Florence Cathedral, now I know it can be done. Looks great.

Nice dome. I imagine it flickers like hell but it's fantastic

Rather impressive. Dome could be cleaner, but the zoomed out screen is still very recognisable.

can you lose the invert track or is it covering some holes? I think that's the only thing that's messy about the dome.

^It's covering up wooden coaster track (in an attempt to make it look smoother). I think another person brought it up earlier, and I'm considering changing it to looping coaster track which is more similar to the monster trucks.

I suspect the most satisfying solution in the end might be just blocks. The curve would be a little ess smooth but the surface would be a single colour without any unwanted features.
