Description
So, this is my very first attempt at merging a ride: Gotthard Pass. A massive Vekoma mine coaster with two launches and a loop. Do you guys think this still passes as a realistic layout? Of course the landscaping/theming is not done yet, especially around the loop I still have to get some things done. The elevated platform with the turn before the loop will be made into a mountain peak housing a drop tower and the area will only be accessible via a chairlift. Still not quite sure where to put the lift for the water ride, suggestions welcome.

I don't think this passes as a realistic layout. However there is nothing wrong with fantasy layouts if you sell them well.

Well, I am just asking, where you guys see the border between realistic and fantasy, because it is my aim to create a realistic park, but also offering something new or unusual.

I don't think there really is a border. If I were you I would look at some real parks on google maps or on their site and compare that with what you are making. Another suggestion is to look around on the site for realistic parks and fantasy parks. Some suggestions:
(Realistic) Fantasy:

(Unrealistic) Fantasy:

Realism:

I made the difference between realistic and unrealistic fantasy. What I mean by this is that realistic fantasy is physically possible, but it is something you would never see in real life, unrealistic fantasy is a bit more abstract and would basically be impossible in real life.
I would put your layout in realistic fantasy. It is physically possible. But its not something you would really see in real life.

I love this layout pretty much. Could improve on some small sections, where I could imagine this is hurtful to the peeps, but it looks pretty rad with its big hills.

I thought about adjusting the layout a bit by lowering the loop (since I intended to let it circle around the path that leads into the area, but I suppose that would be over the top). Chorkiel, can you specify some of those sections? Recurious, I don't know, I just hope to have some kind of coherency when it comes to realism in this project.

Looking at the previous screens for this project I think this layout is consistent with the level of fantasy I see in the other screens. I would not worry to much about it and just keep building.

The problem is, that the supports are just wrong for a Vekoma Mine Train.

Fuck realism. Just make something that looks cool with good flow and theme it well.

Wow, that is one weird ass layout . I always like those really unconventional/weird layouts.

The more I am looking at it, the less I liike the second half of the layout. I think I'll rework the entire section after the loop. My original idea was to have a Arrow Looper/Mine hybrid in a much more seperated area (Gotthard Pass lies way closer to Tell than I originally planned, you can see part of Tells moat on the right edge of the picture) but my hacking skills are rather limited, so I just started building. I am pressed to keep the ride length below 1900m. I suppose what I am aiming for is something like a beefed-up adult version of Expedition Everest (hence the terrain hugging hills and straight decents at some places; I love that stuff).

The helix after the loop and pretty much after when the layout goes under the brown bridge. Especially that last part looks awkward, while I think that helix could easily be themed to something interesting.

That layout looks awesome! You can do some pretty cool shit with it.
