Description
I was asked to port the RCT1 version of the mini suspended coaster to RCT2, and then increase the train length as far as possible. This was the result - the top car is off the lift hill before the last one even leaves the station. It is not possible to build a station long enough to fit in the whole thing.

Could you do this for the junior coasters? Or the 6 per car wooden coaster?

I am confused and amused.

I almost asked you to do this for the Swingers hack in Paradise Pier. I really should have, my hack didn't hold up on it.
Like always, outstanding work!

If anybody wants the downloads for this thing, here they are. I've had to create three different versions with different length trains, as the length had to be hardcoded to get such long trains:
Single car trains
15 car trains
30 car trains

ok I needed this for so long!!!
you're a god!

Note: the DAT file released here has the train length hardcoded. I've got a technique now that allows me to put an arbitrary train length on an existing DAT file without the need to replace it, but it's slightly convoluted as it stands. However, this avoids the need to have a seperate DAT for every train length.

so there is a version where we can adjust the train length?

I can set the train length to whatever I like up to about 30 cars (after which the game starts crashing when trying to build the ride). However, I can't make the train length adjustable by the user.
The problem is that in order to set the train length this high you have to set the minimum train length to 30. The minimum train length takes priority over all other limits, including the station length and maximum friction.

Lol this looks like good ole fashion rct2 fun. Are there real rides like this?

^you can do that with the 8cars trainers. only with 1.32 though

I can do that sort of thing easily but I think it's better implemented as a cheat (a "disable train length limits" button ought to do the trick), and I think I'll look into the possibility of doing that. I don't think we need a seperate version of the file just to change train lengths. So far I've had a couple of requests for minor modifications to existing rides - they're not difficult to do, but they have been delayed while I refactor my code.
Special purpose files that are only used for one specific park end up cluttering the ObjData folder, and I'd rather reserve them for things that really can't be implemented another way.

Are you sure about this? I don't think so...?

Yup. The twister trains can go up to 11 cars and the stand-up trains can go up to 10 cars.

That limit comes from the train friction. Increasing train length reduces the friction, and the game has a set minimum friction. It will cap the train length to avoid going below it.
If you lower the friction values you can get a few more cars in, but to get the absurdly long ones you have to change the minimum length instead of the maximum (can 8Cars do that? I'm not sure).
The minimum train length is imposed after all the limits on maximum length - the train will never be shorter than the given minimum, even if the station isn't long enough to fit it.

So I've just found out that 30 cars is actually well above the games limit, which appears to be around 15 or 16. The 30 car trains crash the latest version of OpenRCT2, and it seems to have just been a coincidence that they worked before. Not a big deal since there's no need for 30 car trains, but yeah, don't actually use these. The 15 car versions should still be fine if you can think of a reason to use them.
