i feel like the brown/dead trees would look better clumped together more, rather than seemingly randomly spread about. Trees tend to die in groups, from disease, or fungus or fire, so it seems unlikely that the dead ones would be so spread out

These are being killed by the Hemlock Wolly Adelgid, an invasive species introduced to the Smokys from Asia. Since it's a parasitic insect, its distribution throughout the forest depends more on the species of tree, and less on the proximity of the infected tree to other trees. If it was due to fire or fungus or something that wasn't as selective, I would be inclined to agree with you.

thats a really good... amount of trees... I guess

make the ground dirt/grass at least, so it more resembles a forest floor, maybe with some short grass and bushes around too. maybe add some little bluffs or something, open parts with grass, dirt parts, etc to vary it up and make it look realistic. like that long straight slope you have on the right, I would turn that into more of a cliff/steeper hill thing. idk

A natural landscape isn't only trees. It's also bushes and flowers and mushrooms and stuff.

the idea is really cool and you seem to have a pretty good idea about the landscape you want to depict (with the invasive insects and so on), however it looks like an rct landscape with some random trees than an actual forest. My advice is to use reference pictures, like all good realism parkmakers do.

Also put in some rocky pieces to make it look less gentle.

I'm thinking of this kind of like I would think of a sketch. The four screens so far are just me getting a basic idea of the shape of the park and what I want to do with it. I do plan on varying the land textures, adding some rock, and putting in a whole lot of underbrush. But that will come much later.

I think I should probably make a WIP tag if one doesn't exist already... :p
