That roof is genius, love the squared off bushes as well, really add a lot of realism.
Without knowing the source material, I can't quite get behind the roof personally. I just think that there's a little too much going on - maybe if it was two or three tiles in length and bringing forward the small building on top would look better in my opinion.
The heart shaped entrance is awesome though!

I really dislike the dark grey path. There's already enough grey on the screen.
I agree the path is creating to much grey. Its not grey on the photo either. Good resemblance though.

Couldn't hardly be more convincing.
I think the perspective from the path is a bit off here. The fake hills should grow higher towards the back, and I don't think they need to go quite so far back. That said, I still think this is brilliant.
I think the hedge perspective is fine. Firstly, if you looked at the building from farther back in fantasyland (its always a huge plaza) you would get the correct perspective. Secondly, this game is only viewed by us, a magic isometric skygod person, and if it looks good as it is, don't bother changing it for the peep's sake.
