I personally don't enjoy this screen because of the colors. Lots of brown which really doesn't contrast well with the bright yellow and blue. It really is a beautiful concept and I love the buildings but the colors throw off the screen.
Edit: That one palm tree sticks out pretty poorly. Just remove that and add some more bushes to make it look nicer.
Is it just the new stuff behind the buildings on the cliff? The form is good but having every single building be the exact same color is really repetitive. Try to work that jungle roof texture into more spots than just that one tower.
I rather enjoy the blue, it's good contrast with the yellow. I just wouldn't have so much of it all at once. Really liking the detailing on these buildings, quaint and cute!
I love the old school feel this has. The coaster contrasts very nicely with the vibrant blue of the buildings.
My one complaint may be that the blue does start to get a little repetitive up by the top spin. I might try to mix it up a little there but keep the blue behind the coaster loop as it contrasts beautifully.
I just adore this project, Liam. I remember the screen you posted before, and this one is just as great. While I think the blue buildings around the topspin are a bit overpowering, the blue looks fine elsewhere. I hope you finish this!
i get this is aiming at "old school" but, it just doesn't do it for me. I'm not crazy about the colors (Brown and Blue is hard to do well, IMO, and you put together the least complimentary shades of each). I also just, don't feel the atmosphere of this. Something about it, rather than feeling organic and natural, which i usually associate with your work, this feels forced and stagnant.
The forms are nice, and the landscape is nice, i like the coaster, not crazy about it. I don't know, i can't put my finger on it, this just doesn't excite me like so much of your other work has in the past.
My issue with this is that it looks like an early version of Corsair Veridian with some odd colour choices. We've already seen something in this style from you, hanging off the edge of cliffs a giant coaster roaring past, and we've seen it much better.
I understand that people like the nostalgia factor, but really, I doubt I'll ever understand why people enjoy progressing backwards as much as they do.
This is nice but could be interesting if you sprinkle in more shades of blue instead of the same one throughout... almost like a northern/woodsy version of Chefchaouen in Morocco.
Thank you for the replies everyone! Hopefully I'll have some recent screens soon.
@rct2isboss: which palm tree exactly?
@Ling: good suggestion to have more jungle roofs. I was worried about having too muc brown roofs.
@Coasterbill & Hepta: I agree that the blue is too much behind the topspin. I've been struggling with it but I found a solution by now.
@FK: too bad man... Hopefully other areas will appeal to you more. And otherwise I've always got hundreds of other projects going on.
@trav: I like building in this style because it's a lot faster. You don't get lost in details, but can focus on the bigger picture (which not everyone seems to appreciate here, which is understandable). It's not entirely oldschool too, in my opinion. I'm continuing where artist and similar parkmakers have left off. They'd been doing mostly the same stuff over and over again, but with unmatched beauty. I want to create new, slightly more daring themes (ALL BLUE BUILDINGS) with similar beauty.
@Kevarchitect: realism. Now that's a term I didn't associate with this project.
@posix: x-sector is always on my mind, especially his unfinished RCT2 park, but this is purely my own work. If you mistook this screen for x-sector work then that's one of the biggest compliments I could get.
@John: look who we have here! Interesting idea to have more shades of blue, somehow never occured to me. If it works out I could make the area even more blue than it is right now, because there's way more brown than I hoped there would be. I'm definitely trying this! Are you back, by the way? I'm still waiting for Peony Gardens!
I love the style of the wooden balconies and decking, and I think the blue is a great contrast colour to the brown. However, I would also like to see a few more shades of blue in there, even if it's just the colour of trims or ornaments.
The coaster is very impressive and I like it's journey around the bottom right tower. I'd like to see what you've got planned for the beach area (I'm assuming it's unfinished...?)
this is amazingly close to being your best work ever. you're great at creating motifs and while i appreciate your variety of windows, if you were to just augment like one or two of these buildings (red/orange!). I'd make the flowers pop more (THANK YOU FOR NOT MAKING THEM YELLOW <3) but the foliage/composition/ are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good

Love it, a proper old school feeling from years and years ago! When parks weren't about fitting as many scenery pieces as possible on each square.

I like all the fun balconies around the cliffs and great detail without going overboard. Its a cool balance between realism and just plain fun!

Are you recycling old x-sector stuff?

First, I'd like to say that I like this, I just think it's the unfinished bits that are the only eyesore.
Second, x-sector has an unfinished rct2 park!? Is there a way I could go about acquiring the file?
