I tend to think slobs arguement covers things better than the other however I would argue that I would rather see a full- map version of the Tree than Gotheburg purely because it amuses me more and Gotheburg has a lot of open space that seemed like there was no real thought for it's use. I mean would it've hurt to have a waterfall running down the mountain and off the through the area of the map with the space, maybe with a miniture fishing village or something along it?
The floorless duelers, great as they are, remind me almost too much of Two Forces by Mala stuck above the tracks and going slower. I would say creativity is not the real deciding factor in this round since neither park is entirily original be it the concept or the exicution that is "barrowed".
Ed, I would dissagree that everything links back however I would say we've reached a point where the basic ideas and systems of parkmaking have been established and most poeple choose to follow them. I also think the community is like a pendulum swinging between classical and fantasy rct "styles". For a while we were on the fantasy swing thanks to Escalante River falls and then before RoB's classical dominated Rift Valley came in. This resulted in a spring board for fantasy parkmaking to become popular. Now we've had Bijou Magique and Ports of Magia push us back over to the classical side. Somehow it fails to capture me the way the older classical parks did and still do. Moonlight Magic, Rivers of Babylon, Raindrop Riviara and other such masterworks have really grabbed my heart and mind. Bah.
Anyway I can't think of many fantasy parks that don't grab me, maybe that's because I always feel like they get more thought from the builder on just how they want to do things that couldn't be done in reality, what options do they have in rct that they don't in the real world?
All things said and done though Gotheburg is amazing, somehow edging out many other "neoclassical" parks in my book. What it lacks in substance it makes up in atmosphere and what the tree lacks in atmosphere it makes up for in substance.

But since I'll be at an architecture review at that time, I might just close it before I leave.
Or if the score has held steady for over 24 hrs.

I guess you're right mantis, there are other duelers that are more similar, there's just something about that drop that just pushs the image of 2 forces into my imagination again.

About that last comment though, how can you get bored by a coaster after 20 seconds? That's some serious short attention span. A little advice -- less suger. Seriously though, other than the coasters being too slow on the first turn around elements after the loops, I thought they kept up the speed pretty well on my computer. They ran at the right speed for the elements they went through. There's such a thing as being too fast. I think this is more what I would call 'just right' speed-wise for a coaster of this type. They were also well timed, and had unique layouts. All duelers of this type resemble each other to a certain extent. That's playing within a certain framework, a certain set of guidelines. What makes a realistic coaster unique is how well it fits the space alotted for it, and I thought a good job of that was done here.
The worst part about the park I think were the coaster supports which looked a little amateurish in comparison to some other RCT2 parks. Phatage has set the bar pretty high in that department (especially on Fright Nights which I finally took a look at. That's the best support work I've ever seen on that coaster.) And the best part about the park I think was the queue lines. It's nice to see someone taking the time to really do these right.
I have more to say about why I voted for the Hurricanes' park instead of the the Flying Germans and what I liked and didn't like about The Faraway tree, but I don't really have the time to type it all up right now so that will come later.

can someone clarify what the ruling is for this though? if a team is up by a single vote when voting's closed do they win? seems too close to call, imo.
