I think it's a little misleading to use screens as support for your vote, but I guess overall impression is an important part of a park...but still I feel that the actual thought and detail put into making each part of a park great should be the deciding factor. To look at, Battlefield RCT is a mess compared to, say, Maui Xtreme, but i'd say that in spite of Maui being a very detailed and thoughtful park, Battlefield would always win on closer inspection.
Unfortunately for my previous argument, the overall picture mirrors the actual quality of the parks. As far as i'm concerned, Rockwood appears to have had a lot more thought and effort put into it, pushing more boundaries and taking more creative risks than OC. It gets my vote for generally being more interesting than OC.
And chapel, it might be good to remember that you're gaining praise for a (commendable) large building in the AD before you start making half-joking comments about other peoples (equally commendable) architecture. Anyone that takes the time to create large, intricate buildings like that instead of creating blanket clones of every other building in the AD deserves praise - that means you for your cathedral, but also whoever made this prison.
This seems like a lopsided match-up for me. Rockwood gets my vote by a long shot.
You do have a point there Richie, but isn't voter turnout the more important factor here? I mean H2H is supposed to be a fun competition. My computer situation prevents me from downloading the park therefore I shouldn't vote? I'd personally rather see a larger vote turnout (even from people who can't download) than to tell people not to vote at all. You're right in saying screens don't tell the whole story about the park, but shit, I still voted for Kerry without watching one damn presidential debate.
I'd personally rather see 5 well-informed votes where the voter has actually bothered to do a little research (in this case, actually looking at the parks) before making a decision, than 50 uninformed votes where the voter just voted a bit randomly or based on a mere first glance. If you don't know what you're voting for and for some reason can't find out, don't vote.
Anyway, my vote goes to Rockwood, because it's a lot more detailed and creative, with some new tricks and cool adventure ride, than Orange County, which looked rather generic, even if it was nice and pretty. Nice timing on the Rockwood ride.
You're the pickiest bastard I think I've ever seen. Why must you always focus on the negatives? I think just a few positive comments from you would improve the credibility of your opinions, otherwise no one will give a rats ass.

Some positive comments:
Rockwood Park seems like a very interesting, well thought out, and well executed park.
Orange County is a very beautiful, appealing work, with a well designed coaster.
There, better? Now, to balance that out, here are some negative comments:
Rockwood Park is UGLY! And, frankly, these sorts of "themed adventure" things which always win competitions are a bit silly, I think.
Orange County is boring, and redudant! It's the same 4 buildings, 4 trees, and 4 colors throughout the entire park, broken up only by some water, a coaster (featuring those same 4 colors), and a 3D Cinema (also featuring those same 4 colors.)
jkay, chauncey is the only who sees everything right. it has been like that years before you even knew what ne was. plus, i always find myself in utter agreement with his points. he should post as frequent as he did back in the day. but i guess there are better things to do than posting on ne, which i understand.
as for the parks, they're better than i thought. the hurricane's park looks like it was done by corkscrewed, if he is in that team. reminds me of the way how he won with the myticca resort. anyway, good to see h2h3 running.
Wow, this was really tough for me to decide upon. I really liked Rockwood Prison (or whatever the fuck it's called) because the effects made it fun to watch. But Orange County was real nice, quaint park that had some good features.
I voted for Rockwood Prison because it was interesting with all of the effects.
Thanks for the tips posix, and cg? - thanks for the second post there, you obviously have a positive side too
janus - good point about the 5 well-informed votes vs. 50 non-justified votes, but I just feel that holding people back from voting simply because they do not own the game or cannot download seems a little chinsy IMO. Whats the purpose of putting up screens then? Why not do it the same as the best of round with QFTB?
And Escape from Rockwood Prison has my vote. I found Orange County dull and boring whereas Escape had explosions, good architecture and a nice layout. Orange County had way too much water too.
Also, I dont see the point in flaming cg? for posting his opinion. NE prides itself of free speech afterall and most of the time, cg? does make alot of sense and its completely honest which I think is a good think to have in the NE community.
Both park are pretty good considering their in week one.
However you've obviusly both wipped out your stronger (and in Kumba's case strongest) parkmakers before they had enough time to reall build up. I have to go with the stronger entery and vote for the Hurricanes. The loads of special effects plus the underground coaster really adds alot. Orange Country is a 'nice' park that really doesn't have a chance against something nearly as creative as Rockwood Prison.
Sorry Chapel, better luck next time (unless it's against us Flying Germans )
In my opinion, Chapel's team was better. I know someone said this but I feel like reiterating it....
The "giant buildings in the corner of the map" method really doesn't have the wow effect like it once did. I, for one, voted for the Vehemences because of the way the colors corolated. In all fairness, there was too much brown, but the orange coaster (and water) seem to drown some of that brown out. The overall effect seemed so pleasent, also.
And this is my evil twin posting this, just in case any one from the Hurricanes want to talk.
My vote went to Rockwood because more thought went into it, more effort, and ALOT more time. Plus that architecture is SWEET. Some of these guys need to try building like that, then they will really appreciate the work that was put into it.
For the people complaining about judging from screens. It realy doesn't matter, 99.9% of the time the outcome will be the same whether you look at it in game or just study the screen. People judge which parks in the AD are going to be good and which are going to be not so good with ease, and generaly get it right, so why can't they do it here? Get over it.
I voted for The Hurricanes btw. Oh, and if you thought that was starting the season of with a bang you 'aint seen nuthin' yet.
I don't think he said that because he's losing. It was generally more of an attempt to get people to actually download the parks.
If you think about it, judging only by screens would have helped Chapel's team more than the Hurricanes, because in the map overview, Orange County looks a helluva lot better than Rockwood. But since Rockwood is a really cool adventure ride, you MUST open it and explore it to appreciate its genius and creativity.
Plus it's got a really fun mass exploding water mines scene at the end that I really liked.
Just wanted to step in and clarify before this went too far. Remember guys, everyone's entitled to his opinion. You can't please everyone, and that's perfectly okay.
I voted for Orange County, as I liked the atmosphere better. The theme held up better in my opinion, and came together to make a charming whole.
Rockwood was very good indeed, I just found it a bit....done before. I can't really explain it. I can appreciate the skill involved, definitely, but I just liked the other one better.
A very good match up though. Well done to both teams.

Rockwood. OC was pleasant, and it sure looked like Junya, but pleasant and a good coaster can't overcome the thought and effort put into Rookwood.
Maybe it's just me, but I think Rockwood is the best H2H3 park so far!

Stop clutching at straws for a reason why you are losing. There is realy no need for the screens to be taken away as I said in my above post.
