Yea its the whole RCT isnt real life deal here. IRL, max lats are in the area of 1.8-2 g's. So going by that these lats are clearly too high, but like I said before, it looked very accurate to its real life counterparts so as far as Im concerned this was an excellent classic-style rct woodie.

    G'sengte Sau @ Tripsdrill (Germany):
    3G lateral

    Anyway nice park :p

where, on the wild mouse turns?
  • Magnus%s's Photo
Yes it has to be the wild mouse turns. The forces are incredible. Was really hard to keep the arm in the air.

I know it is no Wooden Coaster and hard to compare. I was just wanting to point that out as 3G lateral is the maximum allowed in Germany.

No, G'sengte Sau has a max of 3 VERTICAL G's, the max lats are somewhere in the vicinity of 1.2-1.5 Id guess, that is the common industry standard for wild mouses/Gerstlauers.

I wonder, would that be where you assume lateral g's are normally 0? Cause with vertical g's, you assume they're normally 1, since you're normally feeling only one g, which is from gravity pulling you down. But you don't normally have anything pulling you on the side. So I guess 1.2-1.5 lateral g's would feel like 2.2-2.5 vertical g's.

And this is where I start to dislike the concept of "g's."

    BTW, great park again!

Yeah it was really good seeing this park in progress. I know you both worked hard on it. Congrats because your hard work payed off.

Yep, our bodies commonly undergo 1 vert g but 0 lat g's, so that combined with the fact that our bodies are more tolerant of vertical forces than of lateral forces results in lateral g's on coasters being of a much lesser magnitude than vertical g's. The highest vertical g's of any current ride (At least as far as I know) is 6.3 for the Tower of Terror, which was closed for repairs/"upgrade" as of 2005. The Mindbender of Galaxyland pulls 5.2 g's and from what Ive heard is the most intense ride out there as far as vertical forces are concerned. On the other hand the max lats (Which are much more rarely accurately recorded) of any currently operating coaster is in the 2.0 area as far as I know. I know for a fact that The Boss pulls 1.8 lats at the double down on the first drop, and I can say from experience this provides quite a jolt sideways, but its definitely not painful, just intense, so Im sure somewhere there's a coaster pulling over 2 lat g's, I just dont know of one. :)

And yea, The Rocket is a damn nice woodie. Ive checked it out a few different times now, and I like it more and more the more I look at it. I think its deserving of a nomination for woodie of the year, though I can think of 1 or 2 others that were a bit better IMO.

So either the sign at Tripsdrill, the man at the backstage tour and the ride op or I am/are stupid ...

So I have just been talking to the main ride op again and he told me that he is sure it is 3G lateral on those mouse turn ... and the signs in the park say the same for sure.
