goliath, it's fine if you dislike something, and you can see in this topic several people agree with you. but do you really think your hateful and abrasive way of communicating your point is so necessary? why would you heat up like that instead of saying what you thought was bad in a respectful way?

Its something I've wanted to say or a long time

Nokia, you can do much better, but this is a fine first release. It might be sloppy in places, but it shows you have a good sense of color and general clarity. The archy, while minimalistic, was nice, and I loved the foliage. The coaster's could have been much better, I do agree with some, but overall this is nice.

Goliath, like my parents always say: "It's not what you say, but how you say it." Louis and Sam were just pointing out your tone, which was quite rude imo. They are not "jealous" of you or Nokia. I'll admit that I'm friends in a way with Nokia, so I guess you could say I'm asticking up for him. However, there is NO EXCUSE for something like this, no matter what, and I'd feel obliged to help antyone out in a similar situation. Look at the responses most people gave your park; even if they thought it was entirely imitations, most responded quite politely about it. There's no problem if you don't like something, but being an ass about it is an entirely new thing.

Dear Goliath - We all have different opinions. No one is on the same level as the other. And regarding posts, quantity isn't always (actually, it rarely is) quality. But I do agree with you that I felt the park was rushed and a little bit more work on the park could've made it much better. But I can also say that the realism doesn't have to be spot-on to make a park good.

Dear Nokia - I liked this park, don't get me wrong, but with a little bit more effort, it could've been much better. I would've given it a 10 if I were on the panel, because it does deserve a bronze IMO. However, as prodigy said, with a little bit more effort in some places, this could have easily been a silver.

OK, i'm sorry, i'll keep my thoughts to my self next time
  • ahank%s's Photo
It's not that you have to keep your thoughts to yourself, you just need to state them in a much more constructive manner. Then, when others bring up their opinions, don't call them "jealous" or that they were just "supporting their friend." You gotta respect everyone's opinions.

^^No, just dont be such a dick with them :)

okay let me end this like now.

i wasn't trying to impress ANYONE with this park.
the REAL reason i even finished it because a while back k0ng was bitching at me about not finishing a park..so this is me proving him wrong. in the mean time i figured i'd submit it just to see if it could get something.

goliath you seriously need to get the fuck over the fact that this won a bronze. its people like you who are ruining this community. have some respect, no need to act like an ass hole.

This is not the way to respond to something constructively. This is how you should have done it. Edits of how you should've done it in bold.

This park showed too many signs of laziness for me to think that it can actually win an accolade.
I didn't enjoy this park very much because it seemed like there were lots of shortcuts taken. It seemed as though you could have very much improved the park if you took the time to tighten up a few of the details. I'll offer some thoughts via pictures.

    Lets start with the peeps:
    Posted Image

It took me 5 seconds to make a path for them and you can't even see it
An invisible path is an easy was to bring guests through the park. It doesn't take long and it gives a lot of life to the park.

Most of these supports are horrible, they can easily be fixed in a matter of seconds, and also no footers?
A lot of the supports don't line up. The B&M #4 support in Toon's package is centered on the tile and will connect smoothly. That way the angle will look more natural. Although no footers can sometimes not be avoided, it's possible to hack one on top and then hide it with bushes or something to hide the hack. In the back, the small planters look nice on the path and add a touch of character. Those are nice.

Took me 1 second to remove this ghost object
    Posted Image

Again, its not hard to delete them:
Ghost objects can be removed by placing the same object in the same orientation on the ghost object and removing it. Spending a little bit of time taking these out will make the area seem a lot cleaner.

I take it this is an Intamin, these supports are no where near what Intamin build, if you take an extra 10 minutes they would look much better (except for 1 tiny one), no cross beams or supports angled down.
Although not expressly Intamin, the supports are not inherently bad. See Goliath at Walibi World for example (http://rcdb.com/1565.htm?p=4523) for a few ways to make them even better-- a crossbeam in the middle and another angle connecting the slant and vertical support.
    Posted Image

    Wheres the support?
    Posted Image

Surely you could build a better finish then this, it looks horrible as it is now!
Although not expressly apparent what this element does, it looks slightly awkward in the way it goes down, stops, and then goes down some more. It is slightly reminiscent of a hill on Apollo's Chariot, but I think you may have been better served going for the shallow hill down for that section. In terms of footers, it may be better to use the rounded method the whole way down and just hide it with bushes as I mentioned earlier. Foliage is a great way of covering up areas that are difficult to make work with current scenery.

OK now this is just stupid:
It's slightly odd to see the flowers directly on the path as they'd be pretty likely to get trampled by people. The planters were a great idea earlier, and continuing to use them could really make a great path feature and seating area.

After 41 minutes this ride was still not fixed, surely you could hire more mechanics as none could even reach this spot
Make sure your path layout is such that the mechanics won't get confused. Sometimes when you hack, mechanics won't stick to their assigned rides anymore, which is a problem I've run into with my park. I believe if you remove all the mechanics at the end and rehire them, things will work once more.

This train never moved, nor did the one in the station for that matter:
This is another issue that happens. As far as I know sometimes this can't be gotten around. If you close and reopen the ride it should work fine, so viewers should be smart enough to do that...
    Posted Image

    Why is there no railing?
Although just a tiny oversight, another path might have better served in this instance so you don't have to do any sort of custom railing.

Theres much more in there, for example can someone at least try to take proper care of the peeps for once? Its not hard for God's sake!
Honestly the park is meh, nothing exciting happens, all the coasters are supported, fairly badly for that matter and all they do is travel through a couple of trees.
The architecture was good, there was only 1 shop which i didn't like so props for that too.
The layout was horrible, seriously its just a big circle of path, whats so hard about making a more easy to navigate park, add a few more main paths in and it would be good, but it is not.

So for me this park would have gotten a 6. Nothing amazing, clearly rushed, laziness all over the park and there was nothing that even held my attention for more then 5 minutes.

All in all, the park had some interesting concepts and a strong foundation, but got let down in the small details. A little more attention to the details could've gotten you a long way. The architecture was strong throughout, and the coaster selection was a good one although slightly strange for a tiny park. While a circular path is not necessarily the easiest way to navigate a park, the circle is a strategy lots of parks use, so I can't fault you for that. Overall, I hope my suggestions will help out-- from what you've showed elsewhere, it's clear you have quite a bit of talent, so I'm looking forward to seeing your next major park. Good luck!

There you go. Remove Goliath's text, add in the bold and you have a sort of quality, although pedantic post. Moral of the story: If you're going to criticize, offer advice as to how to improve at the same time.

Anyway, most of my thoughts crop up in my comments in there, Nokia. A park that looked great from afar, but was begging out for a little more care on closer inspection. I can understand getting tired of stuff, though, so I hope your next park will work out for you.

[EDIT, saw your post before this. Apologies if this is construed to be continuing things, but I think it might be a worthwhile post.]

Great post cp6, it sums up what I think certain people (not only Goliath) at this site should take notice of..

    SF
  • posix%s's Photo
that's very good cp6. but obviously goliath needed to lose some steam. happens to all of us i'd say.
  • gir%s's Photo
I don't think there's anything technically wrong with what Goliath did. I mean, sure, there are nicer ways to phrase things, as CP6 did, but still I'd take it as somewhat of a complement that someone trudged through my entire park.
  • RamSam12%s's Photo
Goliath, I agree with you on most of what you said, but CP6 showed how to constructively criticize without being condescending about it. My biggest problem was just the little things like the ghost objects that (I would have expected) someone like you should know how to remove. The layouts of the coasters were not all that bad, and the center of the park where the defunct log flume was had really nice foliage and atmosphere. Overall the park itself seemed more like a triple-design rather than a full park due to the size and lack of flats.

you seriously took the time to clean up his park and to use paint to pick out the flaws in a fucking bronze entry?

    You have no life.

    FAIL.

    its a fucking GGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  • Goliath123%s's Photo
    I hardly cleaned it up

If you can't say something nice... spend an hour of your time looking for negative things to mention, take screenshots of them, complain incessantly and then refuse to apologize about being a massive jerk.

I think that's how the saying goes, right?

Keep up the good work and don't be discouraged Nokia; this was much more enjoyable to look at than an empty park.

just out of interest how did you keep the ratings down on the rotodrop and have it at that height, like omph and rideable
