After 3 votes by the judges, the winner, by a score of 3 to 0, is... Magnus
Magnus advances to round two where he will face the winner of the Junya Boy vs. inVersed match-up.
OLE's writeup Match 17 marked a short break in the upsets as Parkmaker Magnus faced off newcomer Petrol. Magnus seemed to leave making his round 1 entry a little late but managed to put together a nice little entry named the City of Colors. Some attractive almost futuristic architecture sports an unorthodox color scheme of brown, black, yellow, blue, purple and red that Magnus manages to make look good. A custom wild mouse winds its way in and around the largest building and a flat mixes the colors in one corner of the map. The architecture is nicely detailed and even two elevators are included to get people to the second level. Overall it's nothing groundbreaking but it's a solid entry that would be tough to beat in Round 1. Petrol came up with a creative idea in Matatu's Journey. A huge, elaborate waterfall takes up one edge of the map with rock features and foliage and buildings clinging to the sides of the cliffs. At the base of the waterfall a small temple sits in the middle of the water that houses a launch tower. It's a neat little entry but there really isn't a whole lot to see and the idea isn't taken very far. Magnus didn't have many problems and quickly gained 3 straight votes for the win.
Thanks a lot for the compliment and the good wishes, the same goes out to you. Would really like to face you whatever round that would be. It is about time we talk again on msn.
Just wanting to say at this point that the complete entry was built on Monday afternoon and that I am pretty happy with it for the time I put into it.
Petrol, I sort of like what you have there. The architecture is really simple, but it gives me some nice atmosphere. The biggest problem I have with that park is that you basically have nothing in there. If you didn't waste that much space and added a coaster (Diver along the waterfall?) it could have been a pretty good entry. However, as it is I can see why this ended 3-0. Good luck with your future projects.
