Our Journey, such as the journey of the Nativity, starts in the Mediterranean. But instead of the desert of Israel we look to the island of Crete, where King Minos has his palace. But not only the location is apt but also the game, as we start the NE Advent Calendar 2024 with an LL entry!
We started with LL, so what would be more fitting behind door 2 than NCSO? Furthermore we also stick with the island theme as a coaster finds its way through castles to provide thrill and joy; a true representation of the spirit of Christmas. Check out the second entry to this non-contest. For anyone feeling the itch to build, we are now only two entries short of filling every day!
Behind the third door awaits not only the first CSO submission of this event but also the first themed to Christmas! Although, one has to admit that it evokes less the spirit of kindly Santa Claus and more that of Robot Santa Claus. Still, a festively decorated, wintery landscape awaits for gifts to be delivered by a giant machine...that sounds like Amazon's plans for the Christmas of 2050.
What says Christmas more than Greek palaces or giant robots? Consumerism! Therefore it is fitting that on day 4 we visit a good old mall...as long as they still exist. The connection between malls and Christmas is obviously not just about buying presents but also about seeing theming and maybe even seeing Santa Claus himself!
We're keeping the wintery vibes going in this entry which blends new elements and old-school theming. Have fun exploring a wintery village as a massive coaster roars overhead. As the snow falls around you, your mood rises as the promises of thrill and joy warm your heart.
It's past time we leave the realms of reason and realism behind. As we peek behind the sixth door, we see something that is reminiscient more of an art piece than a theme park or mall. This neat little entry definitely mixes things up and brings a whole new dimension into our little Advent Calendar.
For uncounted children all across the world, the night before Christmas is a special one. They can't wait to slip into their dreams to find presents under the tree the next morning...unless of course you live in a country where gifts are exchanged in the evening. No matter where you grew up, the night before the big day will always be a special one, filled with hopes and dreams.
After a number of Christmas themed entries it's time we get something different again. But we do not fully leave known ground. Just like an Advent Calendar itself, this entry looks into the future. It is not a bleak and hopeless future, though, it's a future spent having a good time somewhere among the stars.
Let's not forget all of those who have to work over Christmas. As many of us enjoy the time with their family in our warm and cozy homes, some people have to brave the weather and do their duty...even on Christmas. In this little scene we pay tribute to these people. Behind this door awaits simply train tracks and snow.
Behind the tenth door await two brands linked tightly to Christmas. In the Harry Potter books, Christmas was alwas an important time of the year, getting a lot of attention and playing host for many memorable scenes. In our real world, LEGO is a very popular Christmas gift for both Children and adults. So nothing should be more logical than combine the two into this very unique piece of RCT2.
Since you apparently liked the recent streak even more than what came before, why not keep it going? We leave Christmas behind as we move east, to the mighty city of Hong Kong. Or to me more precise, to a small park south of the city, at the southern shore of Hong Kong Island. Behind this door, a great rendition of a Arrow Dynamics classic awaits us. Come and face The Dragon!
NE has a history of Micros looking into the future. Grand Tour 2020 gave us a park looking at the future of the Maledives. Behind today's door waits a different future, the future of Santa's Workshop. The small magical workshop is expanded with a magical factory and the North Pole now has direct sea access.
As we cross the halfway point we open the thirteenth door of our little journey. Fitting that this entry also showcases a journey in a way. The small journey of a miniature railway traveling around a tiny village. Come on and take a ride with me on a wintery ride on the Advent Railway.
As I will spend the evening at a metal festival, door 14 gets opened early. And what a treat awaits us behind this door! On first glance it might look like a small and peaceful wintery scene, but upon opening you will discover a work of incredible detail and care. In this one, the cut-away-view can be used in small increments to wonder at the provided architecture. Beyond that, an extremely realistic depiction of Christmas celebrations will make you feel like it's your childhood again. Of course, as the name suggests, it also features a great soundtrack. This is a true highlight not to be missed and should definitely be viewed in-game.
Enough with winter! We peek behind the 15th door and see a coaster set in a contrast of lush green foliage and gray rocks. This delightful little Design submission features a great pendulum launch coaster with a rustic station, nice landscaping and a lot of excited guests. So come on and ride the Warden!
Just earlier today there was a discussion on Discord about season overlays. Since the entry that was supposed to be released today wasn't ready anyways, I thought this might be a good moment to manipulate fate a little bit. So today, we get the Guess the Builder competitor's biggest fear: A wintery overlay of a recent Design winning submission!
Books. They were once one of the most popular Christmas gifts all around the world and even today many of them are gifted. Some are gifted for their beauty, some for their content and all of them to bring joy to those receiving them. Behind door 17 awaits a tribute to the magic of stories and the forms they take in our physical world. So, take a stroll down this lovely town center to see which book catches your eye.
Have you ever played the classic RCT scenario "Dinky Park" and decided that you just have way too much space to play with? Well, you are in luck! Behind the 18th door of our little calendar awaits a park that reduces the hill to a castle. Despite the small need in horizontal space, this entry boasts many attractions and showcases them in a very unique manner. So please come one, come all and explore the magic of Dinky Castle!
"Hark Triton, hark! Bellow, bid our father the Sea King rise from the depths full foul in his fury! Black waves teeming with salt foam to smother this young mouth with pungent slime, to choke ye, engorging your organs til’ ye turn blue and bloated with bilge and brine and can scream no more -- only when he, crowned in cockle shells with slitherin’ tentacle tail and steaming beard take up his fell be-finned arm, his coral-tine trident screeches banshee-like in the tempest and plunges right through yer gullet, bursting ye -- a bulging bladder no more, but a blasted bloody film now and nothing for the harpies and the souls of dead sailors to peck and claw and feed upon only to be lapped up and swallowed by the infinite waters of the Dread Emperor himself -- forgotten to any man, to any time, forgotten to any god or devil, forgotten even to the sea, for any stuff for part of Winslow, even any scantling of your soul is Winslow no more, but is now itself the sea!"
It's past time we leave modernity behind and look at a piece of classic RCT. Behind door #20 awaits a tranquil island that features a temple and several gentle rides and attractions. Make sure to check out this calm and relaxing piece of RCT as we slowly but surely draw close to the big finale!
For anyone looking to contribute, please make sure to send in your entries ideally until tomorrow evening, so that the admins have enough time to make their checks.
