Agent 008 is sent on a very special mission: Infiltrate El Presidente island!
It must be said that this was agreed upon as a potential Bonus Match between RWE and Kumba, to coincide with the Grandfinals deadline. Kumba signalled a few days in advance that the Hurricanes weren't going to send in a park, so RWE and team were aware. It was all fairplay, and it's even more impressive the Gardeners would produce a park that lives up to their heritage of high quality parks so much, and wins them 5th place.
Dear Gardeners, I hope this will work as a consolation price to some degree. Thank you so much for being a part of this season, for delighting us with your unique festival of parks, that despite their impressive liveliness never lost sight of your top-level consistency.
And dear Hurricanes, there is absolutely no shame coming last in a contest such as this. You made what is one of the top ranked parks of the event with Lostileth, and followed with a line of parks that dared to go against the H2H-meta with applaudable courage. They clearly showed the love you have for the game. I genuinely hope you had a good time despite the turnout.

I love Tropico, so this was a really fun treat!

Wow, this was way more than I was expecting to see when the Discord announcement came around. Such a fun vibe! I'll hopefully have time for a larger review later, but this looks great.

Great park to the team to round off an amazing season. I hope you're all proud of the parks and the concepts you put out there. Big fan of the team. Great work to Babar on the near-solo to keep the spirit of the contest alive, you had a great set of builders helping you get this over the line.
Is the 5th place match a thing usually in H2H or was this the first year the captains agreed to it? I'm here for it either way.

Great work to Babar and team for closing out the Evergreen Gardeners' season with a huge, tropical bang!
There's so much to love about this map, even before I saw what it was based on. I love the collection of themes in here, it's super cohesive and very well crafted. You can tell the builders had fun here.
I cannot tell you how much I love the El Presidente Banana Tower thing - I was laughing for a good 5 minutes when I read the name and saw the peeled banana sculpture on top. Lovely little water park area, wrestling match (I think?), surfing competition, etc. I feel like Josh would have loved to build on this park.
Great season all around to you all! Loved viewing your parks!

This park was a nice surprise, as I was not expecting to see another park from the Gardeners! Absolutely loved it. I am not familiar with the reference material, but that doesn't matter! It had no negative impact on my viewing. The theme is great and the music is some of my favorite of the contest. Great work!

Bonus Episode: Babar
Woah, a 5th place match? Even though we only got one park from it, this is still a welcome surprise! And we finally get that true Babar solo we were all waiting for. Nice.
008: Mission Tropico
I've never played the Tropico games, but I've seen enough from them to appreciate their vibe and humor. And I do believe you nailed those in this park! The "volcano missile silo" plot allowed you to create a really compelling scene on that side of the map, while the vibes were piled on the other side. And I think that makes for a great map composition.
Of course, the landscaping, foliage and setpieces are all amazing. But there are two specific things - let's call them Babar-isms - that I wanted to point out. The first one is how you use so many random, seemingly single-use objects from other parks, and somehow make them work perfectly. The other is how effectively you've broken the grid, with seamless use of diagonals and half-diagonals that just feels natural. To me, it's these two factors that elevate this map beyond its (already great) nature and give it that much-respected "branding". Truly amazing work, and I'm glad you decided to submit this.
TL;DR: colorful, fun, well-executed.
What a way to kick off the final stage of H2HX. Thank you, Gardeners!

A lot of respect for Babar and his merry bunch of rascals for pushing through on this park and delighting us with such a great park. First off, is this the Medinat pallet? That’s such a bold and cool choice. I think this park marks your full embrace of the half-diagonal, and I like it! This park, like all Babar-classics is just so pack-full of fun content. You have an interesting style combining well designed set-pieces with the occasional disaster-bench object. I love looking around for all the little fun vignets. Really brightened my day! Also, congrats guys on finishing a strong season.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the news that the EG's were releasing a 5th place match, and even more so that it was Babar leading the charge. As always, your attention to building atmosphere is both extraordinary and inspirational. What a beautiful way to end the season.

Sneaky one of my favorite parks of the contest. Well done!

Babar you just constantly seem to be getting better at this game. The palette is a bit intense but you used it well. Also your use of half diagonals feels very natural! It's not my favorite theme of yours, but with your productivity I'm certain that you're gonna apply this level of quality to a theme I outright love very soon.

Man, I love the Tropico games. this absolutely nails it! Fantastic macro, great details, awesome sound design, nice warm colors. Incredible work as always.

Such a joy to see a new EG park. You all were such a strong team and it's a joy seeing something of playoffs size and quality from you. Is this the first time we've had a Head-2-Head with no ties whatsoever?
+ I forgot how infectious a good Babar solo was. This is the work of a player who keeps on elevating while never losing his iconic style. Everything is so clean and recognizable. I'd even go as far as to say cartoony, in a good way of course.
+ I'm not familiar with the Tropico franchise, but the perfect blend of tropical vibes and '60s spy thriller influence is infectious. The music nails it.
+ While not very ride-heavy, what rides are there have a very strong identity. Shoutout to my boy El Presidente Banana Tower.
+ Love the shape of the city blocks. Great example of using smaller "pieces" to form broad strokes. You're quickly approaching Leon/Tols/Hydro levels of making half diagonals look like they were always in the game.
+ Love the volcano with the secret base built into it. Very very similar to a design I'm working on actually! Hell of a submarine too.
+ Love all the frozen staff scenes; the new peep editor really helps with that.
= Putting the sea border in test mode looks really cool.

excellent park, thanks so much for taking the time to finish this within the timeframe of the contest. a worthy addition to a seriously good collection of parks from a great team, congrats.
what a nice theme idea, and it's very well pulled off. the color palette is perhaps slightly too saturated for me, it makes it kinda hard to differentiate between some things but it's undeniably warm and tropical.
one of the coolest things for me is the subtle water variations throughout the map - great usage of colors and objects makes the rivers and map edges look really cool. appreciate the time it takes to do that.
the town section has a wild mix of colors and textures going on that overall pretty much works... some parts are a little hard to read, but there is a lot going on. i really appreciate that there are a ton of different little areas with different things happening - makes the whole map feel alive, and vibrant.
you know what i've just realized? there isn't a coaster on this map. i don't even care, really. there are enough rides to add movement, and tons of animated scenery... the result is a fun map to explore, and i find it quite interesting that it took me 2 viewings to even realize there was no real tracked ride.
shoutout to a couple of cool little things to add atmosphere - 008 drop gone wrong with sideways parachute, Xtreme sweeping up flamingo poop, the little island with the airstrip (with agents in jail), the llama statue... overall takeaway is just a really fun map that feels completely on brand with babar's previous work. you're building quite an impressive portfolio of parks, and i bet you're high on the list of people to work with for a lot of people. congrats and thanks!

I really enjoyed this map. It excels at subtle details. The naturalistic looking roads, the volcano, the incredible variety of ships and structures and the fact that it doesn't read like a normal theme park but the environment of an AA or AAA video game. I am not familiar with the game, though it sounds similar to a movie I've seen the trailer for called Mortadelo and Filemon, Mission Implausible, sort of a spoof on a well known property. I am eager to see what Babar and the others with more minor contributions make in the future.

This park is such a joy to see. I love the cheesy anti-communist tropical theme, and the park seems quite close to its source material. I have to echo Turtle's comment — it took me quite a while to realize the park lacked a coaster! Furthermore, I hope it doesn't go underappreciated just how impressive the half diagonal structures are in this park; they are so well integrated that I often forgot I was looking at a half diagonal. To me, that's how I know you've hit a home run in terms of integrating them. The park also has lots of fun little details like the dangling agent off the volcano base and the banana tower (lol). Great work! I'm so glad this park was realized.

Your conviction to storytelling through RCT is so infectious here, and lifts the park to somewhere higher. The lighthearted but serious gangster comedy is really well done, in a way that feels like only you could do it. Aesthetically the park has a lot to offer, and is a joy to go through. All its angles are easily accessible to the eyes.
If you wanted to hear criticism, I would mention that this approach of micro non-parks has seen a ceiling, and I think it could be interesting to see you try entirely different park making concepts that may unlock higher scores for you. But I understand that's probably not what you enjoy doing, and thus there shouldn't be a reason to.

wow, I thought this was going to be a joke when it was brought up in discord... awesome park from one of the most exciting newer players of the 2020s. I love the theme, I'm a sucker for campy spy movies with hidden bases for sure. I especially love the submarine cave. the town is excellent, just absolutely full of life, so many unique and real-feeling buildings, it feels like its actually been lived (and partied) in. some of it feels a bit miniature but i also feel like you've taken a huge step forward compositionally here---while some of your previous parks have had a lot of 'islands' of buildings or rides strewn randomly over the place, this feels like an organic whole with real intention. Perhaps a touch cluttered but I dont knock it for that at all. weirdly my favorite bit might be the old fortress on top of the city---it just feels so much like ones I"ve seen IRL and the sunbaked palette does wonders for it. awesome work overall and a real treat to see this pop up!

Man this park is awesome. Makes me sad you guys had such bad luck in your matches because every park from you guys was so good. This as well. Kudos for putting so much effort in this.
I like the contrasting parts of the island with the town on one part and the other part being more industrial/military. Love the castle and the town around seems really vibrant.
I liked the palm tree ride and Banana drop tower, lovely ideas done well. Also liked the diagonal little airport, such a great touch.
Awesome park, a lot to love here.
