I ended up voting for Port of Discovery just now. I find it a but more stimulating. But as was evident from my review as well as all the other reviews, Isola is also a great map. :)

Great work from the Gardeners, really quite an impressive map. I think for me personally it felt more "modern park, classic objects" than it did feel like an actual classic park. That being said, it's certainly very impressive and very well done!

Congrats! Ethan, I'm curious, were there any players/parks in particular that you drew inspiration from?

congrats ethan and babar! PoD was a pleasure to explore. Particularly enjoyed the underground tram parts. Makes me really excited to see your full size map.

Super proud of Otter and G Force on our map. Steady progress was made very consistently and it just came together so nicely in the end. Classic parkmaking. The map really feels like its depicting a place that has a ton of history, and that is conveyed very well in the end.

Thank you everyone. I feel honored to have won this match, I couldn’t have asked for a better opponents . Isola di Levanzo is absolutely lovely and a bit nostalgic for me having spent some time in Italy. I remember Olive Oil farms in these terraced shapes, Lombardy Poplars in their natural habitat, and the smell of fresh Olive Oil being produced. Yea these are grapes, but, similar looking right? I love the volcano as I spent a lot of my time in Capania with a clear view of Mt. Vesuvius from the balcony. I do sense there is a Pompeii inspiration around this area. The tracked a rides are also all really sweet, and I respect the choice to use a palette but with classic style construction. It’s a fun novel spin on it and I think it captures what this celebration of 20 years is about. It’s fundamentally classic but something we aren’t overly familiar with.

Some of my inspirations for this park include Xcoaster’s DisneyAir, Corkscrewed’s DisneySea and other works, Coaster Ed’s dragonpark for his loud use of trackitecture and the coaster he did. I pinned my coaster as what would be the earliest Blitz coaster, a stepping stone between the Aquatrax and Maverick.

I also was pretty inspired by a lot of the Vacation Parks like VOC, South Beach, and the Disney parks namely Imaginaria.

My two main “rules” with the map was to compose in a classic style and use objects from the era. I built most of the map without a palette, so if you switch to natural water you can see it in the classic color and it is about the same quality color compositon (in my opinion). I curated the palette with this in mind, so I used my favorite colors from Natural Colors that mirror colors of Natural water, with the exception of vermillion.

Special thanks to Babar Tapie for building the Les Machines de Nantes parade based on the real exhibit in Jules Verne’s home town, as well as a submarine that was intended for the parade but didn’t fit so I made it a narrative prop for the 20,000 Leagues roller coaster.
