Description
This is my attempted completion on perhaps the first taste of a 'sandbox park' in RCT - Arid Heights. Done in vanilla RCT1/RCT Deluxe with no cheats/hacks/custom scenery objects. Contains a total of eight rollercoasters within six different themed areas. Hope you enjoy!

This is super charming, I like this a lot. The way you've laid out the park is very pleasant. There's just the right amount of detail to keep things interesting without going overboard. It feels like a theme park but also feels like a very genuinely fun piece of RCT.
A few of the smaller things I really appreciated:
I liked what you did with Volcania, and I really like what you did here. This is definitely an impressive positive trend you're following!

This was really fun to explore. I too have fond memories of playing Arid Heights. I the coaster layouts were really well designed. My favorite is probably the GCI woody.

I love this. I wish I could show my past self this park. It would have totally changed how I approached the game back then.
The lack of extensive architecture lets the coasters stand out on their own which is also reminiscent of how I used to play. Each layout is very strong with a bit of scenario feel.
Your style is really enjoyable. Keep it up.

ah yes, I remember this! love seeing this here finally. Its such classic small-scale LL, its hard not to love.
theres a lot of great moments throughout, but my favorite is probably the way the river winds down from the rockets around the western cliffs and the little mine train coaster. such a good piece of composition.

Last year, I came across a poll on NEDesigns that asked the voting base some questions, and one of them was, “what style of gameplay makes you feel most nostalgic?” Well, if I had to narrow it down, it would be high quality RCT1 scenario play. And I think your Arid Heights is the best representation of that style.
The year of 2021 was the year I sharpened my beautification skills in RCT, and I owe so much of my learning to your treasure chest of a YouTube channel. After putting some of those tips to use, I quickly learned of their value. Overnight, my parks actually looked palatable.
While I'm always impressed with how much work goes into LL Spotlights, your Arid Heights is unique in the sense that your technique remains pleasing, but doesn’t rely on trainers or hacks. It’s unapologetically and wonderfully vanilla.
Much of Arid Heights’s architecture is best described as small and quaint, fitting perfectly with the toolbox of RCT1. But every now and then, we’ll see larger structures emerge, like the Western-style station to Rattlesnake, or the Egyptian-style station to Mirage. Both happen to be in my two favorite areas, with landscaping, scenery, and rides accurately suited for the themes.
When I see parks like Arid Heights, I feel as though the creator knows exactly where to place each and every piece of foliage. Everything down to the cattails. I also believe you’re a master of squeezing out a coaster’s momentum to the max. Some have tiny footprints, but each elegantly weaves through itself a handful of times, and their endings all feel so conclusive.
Seeing how well you integrate your trackitecture, especially in vanilla, is quite impressive. Notably with your woodie supports and the rapids for your river system. This said, I would like to have seen some more intricate supports for your Arrow looper. Some flat stretches of suspended monorail track curving underneath the lifthill would have made the coaster look so much more impressive. And it works without cheats.
In summation, Arid Heights is an RCT1 masterpiece, and a park I followed closely upon its construction. Thanks MickAndy for this, it made my life so much more enriching.

I'm really blown away by these kind words and comments - thanks so much, that's really made my day! So happy to hear that my channel has made a positive impact with your RCT work, at the end of the day that's really what I'm aiming for, on top of it being a bit of a 'creative outlet' for myself personally. I also appreciate the feedback re: the Arrow looper - I'd never thought about using suspended monorail track like that - but I might just give that a go on another scenario where I am not so time-restricted!
Again - thanks so much for this and I look forward to seeing some of your creations soon!

I realize I never commented on this back when it released, this is such a good classic scenario build. No cheats, single-wide paths with great macro and landscaping (That river running through the whole park - love that) and good ride design. Love parks like this that are very much in the spirit of original LL scenario play but taken to a higher level.
