This is something completely out of my comfort zone and what I'm used to. So I don't really get it but... I do like the coaster, it has a good flow to it and it seems like it would a really cool ride. I also like how it is intertwined with itself.

Estheatically it's really pleasing to look at and that's mostly by great color choises. A great unique piece.

This is so cool! You're really hitting some high notes here with your trademark abstract style. As there are no real "sections" or easily defined structures, there's not that much I can say, other than that it looks awesome and beautiful at the same time. The layout itself doesn't really do super much for me honestly, maybe because there are no real surroundings to dictate it's shape, but it's definitely solid enough. I do dig a lot of the flat rides, especially that drop tower!

One thing that struck me was that I thought the ghostly swamp was cooler than the coaster and abstract colorful shapes floating around. That really had a unique feel to it, and (for a very different park) I think the effect could have been quite cool if there was just this swamp and much less other things going on, with just like a haunted house or something like that thrown in. Maybe it's because, while I do love fantasy and probably most people see me as a fantasy player, I prefer it when fantasy is used to create an atmosphere and perhaps even present a more well-defined concept, rather than just a great mix of colors and shapes. That said, I'm sure this has some interesting source material which you riffed on really well - why isn't the album cover you mentioned included in the .zip file?

Overall I definitely think this should win design comfortably, mostly because you've refined this style so damn far and you have the guts to go for this kind of RCT, just completely against the meta.

    This is so gorg!

The colors are so rich and comfy. The ride flows really well through all the elements while still being recognizably abstract. Listening to the album, i can really see/ hear the coordination and inspiration. The soft grit, mellow tone and honestly like.. kinda sexual intensity and intimacies of the album all were translated expertly. This whole thing also kinda looks like stained glass.

Zara's work in this park (or what i think is his) really makes it pop! Super cool park yall.

Just wow! What a beautiful work for art FK.

This park clearly took a lot of patience, and I'm not talking about the 7 year timeline. Using that much track for scenery, even the unique mix of foliage & color palette, finding the right balance between it all is amazing. I would expect it was a lot of trial and error to develop just the right mixture.

As an added bonus, this is prime example of the benefits of the palette trends we've seen with rct, even just changing one color (the dark olive green) it can make such a significant difference in the overall look of a project.

Of course the ride design is really fun, really quirky, clever layout for The Fool. And 'Set Your Arms Down' is a killer supporting ride, surprised we've never seen that before.

This makes me want to give abstract a shot one day. Thanks for contributing this to the community!

I gave some of the music you mentioned a shot - it's not really my style personally (if you heard some of what I like, I think it would be pretty apparent ;)) but I can appreciate that it's inspiring and how this links back to it and the album art.

The first thing I was concerned about was that this would only look good on the opening angle. I was pleasantly surprised that despite all the abstract shapes and colors, it actually works nicely on multiple angles - one is a bit weaker in spots, but in general it's really well done. It's tough for these more abstract submissions to manage to look good like this on multiple angles due to the isometric view, but you managed it quite well.

My favorite parts are the flying ship palace thing that makes up the station, and the moments along the coaster like with the cobra roll where it feels like there's real movement to the shapes and colors that is linked to the form of the ride itself. That was a neat effect.

The layout itself is alright, but it really comes out as a supporting piece to the overall aesthetic in my opinion. I really liked the custom flats and the associated scenery with those.

I think I would appreciate the atmosphere and aesthetic even more if I identified with the music it's based on, and I can clearly see the relation there - so while it might not specifically be for me, I can absolutely appreciate the feelings it might invoke. In my opinion, this is like Swoon on steroids, so there's definitely something to be said for that.

70% - The layout is fine on its own, but a lot of the visual effects and supporting elements bring this up a level for me. I wouldn't be shocked if I'm a low vote here, but I certainly think it's worthy of Design.

Do you realise that your statement about how you don't get it is followed by you explaining that you do get it? ;)

I don't understand the reference material, but this is a great example of how you don't need to know the source to be able to appreciate it. As others have said, this is definitely a work of art and makes me want to create something like this. It's a tough one to vote for me because of how abstract it all is. I do think it's a design no doubt, but I'm just not sure to what degree yet. Shout out to Zara for the cool spiral drop tower looking hacked ride.

Honestly just looked at it, not had a chance to look for the song (don't know it)...to listen while observing.

More later if I remember to comment, but I love it as I thought I would.

    My my my...freakin' fantastic...and inspiring.

In this genre, you outdid yourself again! Great ride, and the visuals were lots of fun to take in, along to the music - I played the full album on youtube. I can relate to the effort of trying to paint a picture with colours and words, although you're taking it way further into the abstract. With parks like these, floating in space, how to handle the peep is always a problem... In your case they're simply walking and sitting in space. And you made it look good?

Finally, I have time to make a review for this. I love your trademark abstract style, FK. The "swamp" made out of the various light blue pieces really makes this submission unique compared to other projects like Swoon. I also really loved the unique station for the coaster. The coaster flows fairly nicely, but I do think it is a little fast and there are a few spots where it is a bit hard to follow. Overall though, it's fun to watch and pretty nice. Of course, the hacked rides by Zara add a really nice touch to the park and add some additional fun things to look at. I especially loved the drop tower ride.

    Great work as always! 75%

You are really the only person on this site that manages to make things like this look awesome. Really fun release, showing off a lot of creativity and feels very inspiring to me. My main problem with this probably is that the aesthetics are almost overwhelming everything else, including the coaster layout. That made it quite difficult to score it, but i think all in all this is a good score and a result you can be proud of. Congrats on the design!

quite impressive! its easy for these sort of experiments to either feel pretentious or like a 'cheat' for design but I think this one is excellent. there's a lot of beautiful embellishments and swoops and pieces of design to love, and its actually quite detailed. I found that I liked it a lot more without the peeps wandering around in weird straight lines over the otherwise beautifully flowing green space. so i removed them and their annoying noises and enjoyed it a lot more.

The Fool was inspired by the album of the same name by the band Warpaint. I had always intended to return to the abstract style of Swoon, and I actually started The Fool back in January of 2014. Having only managed to get incremental periods of time working on the park since, I’m really excited to have pulled it all together into this design.

I know this style can be abrasive for many and I understand if it just isn’t for you. That being said, should you choose to check it out, I ask that you do so with an open mind. The focus of the project was to use color, texture, and composition to capture an impression of the album based on both the cover art and the music. I’ll also note that the design has a handful of visual tricks using the isometric view of the game, something I’ve always loved to play with, so keep your eyes peeled.

A big thanks to Zarathustra for contributing the psychedelic custom rides, MK98 for making some nifty trickster objects, and both Zara and inthemanual for providing feedback throughout.
