Here's a design I made. I submitted it to NE but it didn't make it to the Designs page. Please don't argue that it should have. Corkscrewed gave me a good explanation of why and I agree with him on the points he made. But I really enjoyed making this park and I hope you enjoy vewing it just as much.

    The Tale of the Luminai

For many millennia, the Luminai have lived in peace and harmony in their beautiful, lush, paradise world. These centipede-like creatures were large and swift, yet gentle. They thrived off the powerful energy of their planet’s two suns, which over the course of time turned them into beautiful, shining beings. This energy was the life force of their world, sustaining all living things in it. The countering force was the darkness of shadows. This was never able to prevail on the planet’s surface because of its double suns, which kept the planet in full daylight all the time. Thus the world of the Luminai remained, unchanging for thousands of years, until they emerged...

The Kentrika, dark creatures filled with spite towards the surface world of the planet, came forth from the depths of the planet’s core. They came by the swarms, from every crack and crevice of the ground. Out of the mouths of caves and the peaks of volcanos came hordes of these beings of shadow. The Kentrika, being of the core, had learned to manipulate the inner workings of it. This gave them the ability to control volcanic activity. Volcanos began violently erupting all over the surface, spewing thick, black ashes and dust into the atmosphere. This blocked out the precious light so vital to the Luminai. The volcanos rained their fiery elements mercilessly. Within days, the surface was charred black and covered in a blanket of ashes. All was destroyed, save one place. In the farthest corner of the world, a tiny valley remained unscathed.

One of the survivors was the Enlightened One. She was of a race of three-legged creatures, known as the Estrellok. Like the Luminai, the Estrellok needed the light of the suns to thrive. The Enlightened One was exceptionally skilled in the art of light harnessing. One of her inventions was a powerful machine which she called The Source. It was capable of capturing light and channeling its power through the air. Receiving devices could take this power and beam it into the very surface of the planet providing an alternate root for light to reach the plants and creatures living nearby. The Source was so strong that the thick cloud of ash and smoke could not stop it from receiving the light’s power. This device provided a safe haven for her and her friend Zelaria, who was the last surviving Luminai.

(This is where the park is set at in the story.)

They lived in their small valley sustained by the Source and its various nearby receivers. The Kentrika could never touch them because of the power of the light present in the valley. The Enlightened One and Zelaria built more machines, slowly expanding the small sphere of life until the planet was once again in full light. The Kentrika, having no desire to return to the core fought in vain to stop the expansion. They could do nothing for not even the shadows could protect them from the light that was now in the very ground upon which they walked. Life on the planet returned to an even greater state than it was before the invasion. Now with the machines at work all over the planet, the creatures thrived once again even better than before.[/font]

    Wow.

I'm usually not a fan of fantasy coasters, but I was pleasantly surprised with this. I was expecting something more extreme. The supports were nice. Your archy was really cool, and not really fantasy at all. I'm definetly not qualified to rate you accuraly, since I am an unexpierenced player, but this was definetly some cool work.

Very cool design and I appreciate the amount of work that went into it. I wish it had more speed though as it did slow down a bit to much and two often. I also wished it made its way to the other side of the lift hill and overlooked the cliff.

The only other item was if your going to have a track of that length, try and have some prelift portion or adjust the departure times so that the train does not stop at the top of the lift.

Anyway, good luck with your next attempt.

It was an interesting design with your storyline and architecture. I didn't personally like those small custom trees, but the park layout was great. I think that the coaster layout was fairly random, but the colors were nice.

Damn, Cork. Raising the bar, are we? It looks great, hopefully I'll look at it soon.

Very nice. Your landscaping was EXTREMELY well done, but the coaster itself seemed like an afterthought. It was almost like you built the landscape, and then randomly threw in the coaster to make it a design. Nevertheless, I liked it a lot, and IMO this was definitely design-worthy.

I personally think that this was better than the two designs released today. Had the pacing been faster in the middle and end parts, it would have been a lot better although there was some very good, in this case meaning unorthodox, interaction between the coaster and terrain, and the map was a complete package as well. Very nice job.

It was close IMO, and really almost there, but a few things pegged it down. And to be fair, I got a second opinion.

But lets keep to the positives. The landscaping is immaculate. The backstory is really cool. The enthusiasm is definitely there. The coaster has some cool spots (although it's somewhat inconsistent).

Trust me, it wasn't easy for me to reject this. With Designs, the criteria is tricky, and who knows... maybe in the future I'll look back and say it should have been a Design. That's part of the fun of debating these things, right?

That and the bar HAS been raised. :p

I honestly have to agree with that. This coaster was longer and felt like there was more scenery to the park as well. It just seemed better over all than the other two. I just feel James and Xexon are under rated that's all. I dont know if anyone agrees but oh well that's what I think.

Hmm. Tough decision on making this a design. I probably would've said no as well, but not with much conviction. While its a wonderful fantasy coaster with great stats, I felt there wasn't enough substance holding it together. I also wasn't fond of the architecture and foliage.

It had some bright spots though. The lift hill looked flawless and I really liked the adventurous landscape with the coaster ducking in and out. Cool stuff.

Congrats on this, a nice release!

I thought that if this had a better coaster layout, then this would have been the greatest design since ArchAngel. I wouldn't have turned it down with this layout though, but it would just be "an average, run-of-the-mill design". I thought the architecture was fantastic, as was all the detail with the landscaping and the little paths going everywhere.
