Totally unbelievable that a park such as this cannot win Spotlight.
People need to be accountable for their votes. Let's hear from the NOs. And you better have a good reason.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a more believable RCT map than this.
The park is so well crafted, with such brilliant compositional ideas throughout that it honestly feels like there's barely any room for improvement in regards to the overall concept and layout.
All of the slides were stellar, the lazy river was awesome, the textures were great, the backstages were insane. Absolutely well done, I would've voted yes.

I was leaning towards 85% yes. The unique niche this park fills in the NE database speaks in its favour. The relative lack of diverse content probably explains most of the reluctance to vote yes. I don't think we need to call out the no-voting panelists with hostility, the differences in votes are only marginal. There's only one outlier in the votes, and that's the guy that voted 100%.

This was a pretty stellar park. I think the use of the diagonals and the back-of-house details, as well as the integration of a real life setting and the logistics behind it were phenomenal. The little details and atmosphere were great as well, with probably the best implementation of a theme park snow theme we've seen.
I think the things that held it back for me on the spotlight vote were the amount of slides, the mountain landscaping, and some of the implementation of the existing slides (mainly Toboggan Run). I agree with Milo's comment that potentially one more set piece could have really helped this park feel a bit more substantial to me, as the existing slides and pieces were all phenomenal but that I wanted more. The one slide I wish got a little more prominence was Toboggan Run, because that type of attraction feels like it should be a focal one but felt a bit sidetracked here, with just the bit of interaction at the wave pool and at the end over the lazy river; the one it's based off of at Volcano Bay seems to have a lot more interaction with surrounding slides and environments, and I think pushing more interaction on Toboggan Run here could've really made it shine further and potentially helped it feel like an additional set piece rather than an accessory to the Summit Plummet-esque slide. As a final thing, and maybe this is more of a personal preference, I would've loved to see more attempts at making the mountain look a bit more artificial, maybe using something more than the vanilla-looking landblocks.
Overall, it's still a fantastic park, and I hope the path trackitecture in particular becomes a new thing here at NE (this feels revolutionary along the lines of road line fences or monorail walls). I really hope this isn't the last we see from you, as you seem to "get" Disney parks in a way few others here do, and I'd love to see you tackle something even bigger.

Amazing work man, absolutely nailed a Disney water park vibe here. I think Brian's video review hit a lot of points that I thought were outstanding, and his insight really helped me appreciate this park better. Figured I'd highlight some cool bits:
Really enjoyed Slalom Slopes.. such a cool ride and great to view from any angle..
The halfpipe slide and then the bobsled themed slide were a great compliment to each other. One hugged the terrain and was well laid out to mimic downhill snowboarding, while the other meandered overhead. Really strong theming too. Great stuff.
I know Brian and maybe a few others touched on this already, but damn you put a lot of effort in to the back lot stuff. In:Cities got a lot of credit for his back lot stuff so you should've too! Loved the substation:
Overall, I really enjoyed this. Love seeing another Disney park, and really was happy to see another park from you. If I had to pick out any sort of issues here.. I'd say it would've been nice to see one or two more slights or attractions.. such as an expanded kiddie park.. and maybe one or two colors added to your palette. I appreciated your devotion to a handful of colors though!

Can’t argue with perfection! Airtime was trying to tell me nothing deserves 100 as nothing can be perfect.. if that’s the case why is it a choice?

This park sucks theres no rollercaosters!! I Thought this was Rolllercoaster Tycoon
But wow what a great park, absolutely loved it. Loved checking out all the little details

I really enjoyed this park. The water rides were very well made. I don't know if I would have voted spotlight if I were an accolade panelist. My main critique behind that is that it's more of an amusement water park than a themed water park and considering that it's Disney and that you're going for realism, it really could use some more theming. Despite that though, it's a very interesting diversion from the typical rollercoaster parks and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to see what's next from you!

Yeah I still think that nothing can be perfect. This is no disrespect to this park as I’m a huge fan. However as a stance in life I just think there’s always something that can be better. I don’t know how or what but that’s the point, I cannot fathom what is perfect as there is always something that will come along and be better. Regards to the scoring system, I guess that means I don’t believe in the 100% vote, 95% at the highest but as you said then what’s the point of scoring out of a 100?
Having more time with the park, I’ve had some more thoughts.
The setting is one of the best the game has ever seen. Really appreciate the thought gone into this. One thing I was thinking, with Disney always concerned about sight lines, particularly at the Cali resort. Most of the slides face outwards from the centre mountain, which would mean they would see straight out of the park, unless the idea is the trees would be big enough to block this? Curious on your thoughts SRF if you thought about this or thought of another park/mountain layout? Not a major issue just when you think deeper about the design aspect not the RCT execution.
Also regards to pure design, I was wondering about the placement of the chairlift, it feels almost tucked away to the side and quite out of the way to access the bottom. Maybe that should of been nearer the front?
Would to love to hear your thoughts on the design/planning process SRF as clearly a lot of thought has gone in to this and that shines through.
Again, amazing park.

Because of only having 5% increments for rating parks, if everyone stayed away from 100% out of principle, the highest rated park ever could only reach a perfect 95% score lol

this captures the spirit of Blizzard Beach soooo well. I really think some of the (valid for RCT) nitpicks are nullified by this being a semi-recreation. echoing others that I'd love to see more Disney stuff from you

This doesn't even look like RCT, it flows so well.
I'm not a huge waterpark fan, but this park is undoubtedly the most solid attempt at one we've seen in this game. The theming is top tier, the scale of the park, rides, architecture and the like is so well done and believable, the minute attention to detail (specifically the Disney realism bits) shows such accountability on your part, it's great. I think this is one of those parks that are released and unfortunately are so far ahead of what people acknowledge in the game that it misses the impact it could have (to no fault of your own, SRF).
The incorporation of the Disneyland Resort facilities is perfect and gives the park such a great setting, and is something I've personally wanted to do with a park for years now. You know how the resort is laid out and functions, and recreated it enough to have a believable place for this park to reside. Anyone who's been to DLR should be able to recognize the hotel, the streets, the style of parking structure.. it's all accounted for and is done to a tee.
The lodge is such a believable building, almost seeming out of place because the scale is so perfect. It feels huge, but it actually seems quite right according to the peeps, cars, and the light. Buildings like this take up so much more space than we typically see, but I can look at this and fully believe that numerous facilities would take place inside this structure. Dining, utilities, cast member services.. buildings of this size take up a lot of real estate and this feels great. I even dig the two tone roof you've done for the facade, and the addition of "go away green on the building behind.
I don't have much to say on the slides other than they rock and feel believable like everything else. The oddball is the extended run on Triple Diamond Drop, but unfortunately decisions like that have to be made because of the game limitations or planning mishaps, but honestly the way you've made it into a sort of set piece feels good and doesn't hinder the area at all.
These thoughts are all a bit disjointed, but hopefully StromRunnerFan you can get the gist that I'm a big fan of this park and that while it may not have won the highest award on paper, it certainly achieves the skill level required for such a piece. You absolutely nailed it. In response to the naysayers, I really do think this park has attention to detail so high that it shot over many heads, and I cannot wait to see what you do with an even larger scaled project like a full theme park (with or without the added IP).

Congrats on achieveing Gold SRF and a very deserving parkmaker spot. I'd say this is easily the most well made and immersive water park I think we've seen on the site. There's an enormous attention to detail and I feel like I could explore the park and find new thing over and over again, which can be hard to pull off in a realistic environment.
The overall concept is fantastic, paying homage to Blizzard Beach with some of the ride and thematic choices while retaining enough of its own identity to not feel like a direct copy. The architecture is consistent throughout but doesn't get too repetitive and is especially well designed at the entrance area and Lottawatta Lodge. I loved the melting snowman there too, and the use of the vanilla snow crystal objects throughout is wonderful.
One of the highlights of the whole map is the amazing implementation of curvature and diagonals which feel so organic, and the way they're not just constrained to the path shaping but also used for the landscaping in the wavepool and lazy river really makes the park feel cohesive.
The mountain is really excellently designed, not just acting as the center of the park's thrills but its placement above the wavepool guides the viewer towards the main attractions. The drop slide sitting at the peak is a perfect placement for it, and the view of the slalom tubes from this angle is incredible, almost feeling like a different game (though unfortunately the view from the opposite angle isn't as good). Halfpipe plunge is incredible and certainly among the best implementations of that ride ever done, though I almost wish it were made out of objects rather than track. It's such a fantastic concept however and the way it interacts with the Ice Floe Falls slide is brilliant.
Other small but meaningful details throughout include the photopass opportunities with the snowman and the trophy which really elevate the immersion, and the little thematic touches such as the snow plow snack bar and the finishing scoreboard on the powered slide show a great dedication to the theme. I also love how you made everything working and peepable, not just the slides but all the other details such as the ticket booths, the traffic, the backstage vehicles, the photo sections etc. which really flesh out the backdrop of the park.
On top of the park, the readme really sells this brilliantly as well and seriously shows a dedication to the believability and setting of the park (side note, I didn't realise the hotel was a recreation, awesome work on that). You should really be proud of this release, I have no doubt it will be included in the canon of the site's best realistic releases and set a standard for waterparks (and Disney parks) that will likely remain for a long time.

I don't think giving a 100% to this park is much of an outlier, especially for a park of this caliber. If anything the "no" voters have more of a reason to explain themselves.
I really enjoyed this map. Truly exceptional and a monumental achievement in park design and something fresh overall in terms of releases. I'm not quite sure what else people could want from this, to be honest. If anything, Robbie makes a good point about some of the landscaping maybe. It's not bad, but it's also not great. Is it enough to dock it to the point of not giving it Spotlight? I don't think so, especially when everything is so excellent. I would give this a 90 or 95 easily.
2020 is truly a wild year for NE releases. And when I say that, I mean y'all are dumb sometimes.
geewhzz Fan Offline
I would agree with Robbie on the landscaping. I had the park at a 95 but then went with 100 as the landscaping is a matter of taste. SRF did the darn thing. I echo nin's comments. This park is quite literally ahead of it's time here on NE.

If the park was larger and actually felt like a top tier water park itself in terms of attractions, I'd probably have given it more consideration.

I pretty much agree exactly with G.
