This really deserves a comment. I thought that most of what was there was really good. The inverted coaster was really cool; I thought the pre-drop turnaround was a bit unnecessary, but other than that, the layout was really strong - well-paced and realistic, without feeling like rehashed.
The nearby flume ride, Riverside Mill Flume, was awesome, and by far the best RCT attempt at that type of ride I've seen. Other rides which I liked were the indoor rides, such as Midway Madness - felt realistic and traditional, and the buildings had good facades. You had some good 'starts' to those rides, and I would have liked to have seen them finished. The Patriot woodie was cool - I thought the use of extra track as the top of tunnels worked nicely.
The dive machine (Puma) was a little weaker I hoped it would be - it just felt a bit 'standard', and I've seen those types of ride done a lot better. The other big woodie also didn't do it for me - parts of the first half of the ride seemed too furious/extreme to me, and then the mid-course brake just ruined the pacing.
Overall the architecture was really nice - again, I keep mentioning it, but it felt realistic, and not over-the-top - it just felt like a real theme park. However, it also felt quite 'traditional', like an old-style amusement park... it worked really well. Some of the midways felt a little crowded, like you compacted too much down into one area, and then - as seen from the map - you're left with massive areas to 'fill in', hence why this was unfinished. But yeh, for the most part, I really liked what was there and am looking forward to seeing your next projects.
was export objects on? when i first opened the park, i didnt get the usual object export bar. every time i try to open the park, i'm missing yet another object. now i'm missing hopper01.
I happened to have all the objects in my .dat folder already, so I was able to open it too.
I like the woodie the best. You had a ton of good stuff in there, too bad it's not all built closer together. It would have made for a great little park.
Thanks zodiac. Is the export option built into the game?
@eyeamthu1,Chrisx, and Todd Lee: Thanks for the critique. It's nice to hear comments about the park, especially for the first one I've released ever...
Just as a disclaimer, the work in this park is older than my work now, so don't expect everything to be on par with my most recent screens, including BGAsia and my surprise project.
Hopefully this new exported download will allow for everyone to be able to see and enjoy the park, and I look forward to releasing more things. If I can find my older stuff, I might just release those as well.
Man, this deserves just amount as many comments as a real park.
I really wish you would've finished this thing-- it had the potential to be one of my favorite parks.
Your coaster designs are certainly your strength. They have great composition. I like that you have a good variety of things (especially multiple wooden coasters) and that you combined more stock designs with custom things-- something you really don't see too often. My favorite was probably Patriot. I haven't seen too many pull off an Intamin wooden coaster. I wish you could do the hack to get 6 cars on those trains, but I think you said something about having problems with 8 cars (did you try both the new and original version?). Still, good layout and the tunnels were very reminiscent of Balder.
The theming was pretty strong. You had a good variety of architectural types and styles-- especially using the diagonals pretty often, which was nice to see. Without doing too over the top theming, you were able to differentiate between themed sections. 2 things to suggest, I guess. First, when you have the building behind the facade.. I'd make it a little larger then just the one large wall height or whatever it is. Some things seemed like they'd have low ceilings. Don't be afraid to make your buildings one of the small wall heights taller. You might benefit a little more from that on your lower floors. The second, is more of a personal preference thing, but I'd like to see you lose the land thing you do with the dark rides and theme the interiors. You don't have to do absolutely everything in terms of building interiors, but I always think it adds such another depth when when you have themed dark rides or even themed show venues.
All in all, a really nice park, despite being unfinished. Really loved a lot of stuff, and I sincerely hope you'll get something released soon. You're definitely one of my favorite builders out there right now.
The entrance was really well done and the placement of the freefall was just brilliant.
I loved the invert's layout, shame you had to trim it but was still a really nice layout. The gravity group woodie was great, as was most of the coasters.
Loved the atmosphere created by the brick houses, was my favourite area.
You can really tell you improved as you built and I'm now really looking forward to your next, hopefully complete, release.
