The tiebreaker should be % of votes rather than total to remove the bias of when matches are called.
  • Panic%s's Photo
    Good suggestion, I agree.
  • mantis%s's Photo
I'm not sure that really helps in one-sided affairs like this though, because the longer you leave it the more votes the 'obviously better' park is going to get, so the higher its percentage.
  • ekimmel%s's Photo
The only fair way to handle the voting is to have all voting last exactly 5 days regardless of how the voting is going.
  • Panic%s's Photo
^^Well there have been cases where that's happened and cases where the opposite has happened. The score here was 35-6 the first morning after it was posted for example, which is a higher percentage for the Bandits than what it is now. You're right in that there have been a couple instances where the losing team's score tanks at around 11-12 (after all team loyalty votes have been cast) and creeps upward one at a time from then on while the winning team gets like 20-25 more. I dunno if there can be a sort of control so we don't get that kind of variation, or whether it would be necessary. I still think it'd be more fair than vote totals though.

Actually, the total votes thing is not even the first, second, or third tiebreaker, so it's not really THAT important. But the percentage suggestion is a good idea. I think I'll go ahead and implement that. Not that we'll probably ever have to use it.

Frankly, the "need one more vote thing" was more for team ego reasons. You know, just to be able to brag that you've averaged 60 votes a game through three weeks. :D

Anyway, Iris oddly decided not to call this match even though he called the other one, so I'm gonna call it, because I *think* I remember who made Kiriki Dutch Falls.

    Final Score:
    BANDITS 58
    HURRICANES 13

Hallowhusk Cove was made by Corkscrewed (duh) and JKay (!!!)

Kiriki Dutch Falls Amusements was made by Levis and egg_head (I believe eggie was the second guy; correct me if I'm wrong).

The Tycoon Bandits take over sole possession of league first place, while the Canes suffer their first loss apparently intentionally. Congratulations to JKay for finally making a park that didn't give people color-induced seizures. :p

Congrats you two and bad luck to the other guys, although, if Kumba is to be believed, they won't be that bothered anyway.

^ LoL! of course we "should" believe Kumba, so we better congrat him/them that his "plan" worked out as he wished (a bit of a pity of course that some of his teammembers seemingly invested still quite some time/ideas into this park, which maybe could have been invested better to more promising things then, but nvm...)

Oh, and ...just me of course, but I thought JKay already has proved before that he can make parks without giving anyone a colour-induced-seizure....like his PT-park e.g....? :D

Anyway, great park, JKay and Al!!! Congrats, GREAT park and a very deserved win of course :mantis:

It "seems" that your "use" of "quotes" is another way people "might" see your comments as "condescending." :p

It might end up paying off for Kumba, actually, if he can basically hold off his big guns till they're really needed.

Of course, if he blows it and ends up dropping out of playoff contention, I'll laugh my ass off.

BTW, everyon, check out the names of the handymen. You'll find them quite childish. ;)

Cork and JKay, great park guys, but I did not expect that combo till the playoffs or finals, I guess we don't need to worry about that now :p

And yes our park was made by Levis and egg_Head, great work guys and im sorry the park was kinda scarificed in the end...

Too bad we lost this week but both parks were enjoyable.

Hallowhusk I really thought the docks area was very well done, and the architecture at the entrance was excellent. The wooden coaster was also great. The whole rocket giga and mini coaster area, as well as the big black and white building weren't as good in my opinion. Overall, this park would have been tough to beat, but I'm pretty sure this will be topped many times during the rest of the season. Very strong park, though.

Our park was quite good too, good job guys. The raft idea for the crocodile ride was excellent, the falls themselves were very nice, and I loved the execution on that ship. The drunken zombies were awesome, also. The treetop area was good, but has been done before, although I liked the ride. The invert was average IMO. I liked how you themed the ending though that was attractive. The entrance architecture was also a plus.

So yeah, we got beat by a good park, that's the luck of the draw. I support Kumba's decision 100% (although I don't support his decision to tell everyone that we purposefully did this, but whatever). It's just smart captaining. Someone had to go up against Cork, realizing that they didn't stand a great chance of winning, but their work wasn't 'wasted'. Whether the park loses to cork + jkay or wins by a forfeit, the point of H2H from the parkmakers perspective should be to make parks, and Kumba as the captain made a smart strategic move. Hopefully in one of the coming weeks, it will tangibly pay off for our team.

Nice parks, enjoyable round. Yay for no 5 day rule.

thanks for all the comments everyone

I did finally look at the Canes park tonight. It was better than I expected. I loved the hacked Krokodile ride; that boat delivery hack was ingenious. The shipwreck was done with quality as well. The park felt a bit empty to me mainly due to the obvious unfinished areas though. Thanks to Levis and egg head (and Kumba) for submitting this. It made this week ten times more fun.

For anyone who's wondering, the park was Cork's idea and he built:
    -Spectre
    -Fugitive
-entire Prison area (except for the gaurd towers)
    -Crane
    -backstory (which I loved)

    I built:
    -Ophir Drift / mine area
    -entrance / most town buildings
    -various landscaping
    -waterfront minus crane
    -guard towers

I was entirely satisfied with my areas park except for the mine area. I rushed that a bit and think it could have been better. My personal favorites were the prison and waterfront areas.

True, maybe this combo could've/should've been saved for more important matches, but I just wanted to give Kumba just a little taste of what the Canes might face in the semi-finals :p

I hope Kumbas move pays off, but even if it don't, i had a park winning in week 1 and that is more than i could have expected when i signed up :)
    Go Canes!

What, Kumba KNEW Cork was going this week?!

Great park once again JKay and Cork..
And I expected some Dutch guy to be building on the Canes park, but I didn't guess egg_head (you're German right?).. So good job I guess for getting something in even if Kumba didn't want to win..

I think Levis is dutch? Not sure though.
  • egg_head%s's Photo
Yeah Levis is dutch and it was his idea to have the flying dutchman in the park (he also built the ship - I just added some details to it). I built the Ta Kula coaster and it's surroundings, themed the enterprise and did some work on the mainstreet. That was it from my side. I fact Levis mostly built the whole park and i just added stuff or gave him the theme (I built a building in the mainstreet and he completed the whole area in that style). When Kumba said we'd go this week I had about 6 hours to finish the park. That's why the Ta Kula area seems to be rushed/unfinished. I didn't even had time for more custom supports. But so what...
The plan will pay off and I know it :)
@Artist: thanks, but I can't tell if I'll be going one more time.
Thanks to everyone who took a look at the park and was kind enough to write a review. I enjoyed reading them all.
And thanks to Levis for the awesome work you put into the park :mantis:

Kumba strongly assumed that I'd be going. He never KNEW anything until he opened the park, at which point it became pretty obvious that I had made half of it.

Kind of a shame that egg's only got one more match in him (three game maximum rule). I've enjoyed his work, and he's definitely a rising star here.

I'll see you guys two more times. ;) (well, definitely one more, and I'm just assuming we'll reach the finals :D )

when i saw the little screens i already knowed that levis was involved by that park too bad it wasn't finished :(
