After 7 votes by the judges, the winner, by a score of 4 to 3, is... Levis
Levis advances to the sweet where he will face Zodiac in what should be a pretty good match-up of two talented parkmakers who have each survived close calls to get where they are.
OLE's writeup After two short matches the most hyped up match of Round 2 was released and the results lived up to all the expectations. Both Levis and 5dave are two of the best non-Parkmakers of today and also co-lead the best (and almost only) club called RCT Majesty together. Levis has an intricate knowledge of how the game works and usually uses at least one inovative idea to tackle his unique themes. 5dave has some amazing architecture skills as well as overall aesthetics and can do a wide variety of themes. Both used their styles to full effect in Round 1 and now they face eachother here in what was surely to be an interesting and exciting match. Levis based his entry, The Lonely Mountain, on the book the Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkein. A complex shoestring coaster is used to represent the characters splitting up and regrouping on their quest for the treasure hidden in the mountain. The theming is all very nice with the best part being the cave on the back with the dragon lying down on the pile of treasure to guard it. A few other rides and shops are scattered inside the mountain as well although the main focus is the large coaster. The major drawback to the entry was the main ride ran too long and seemed to take more time setting itself up for certain key elements than actually running through those elements. Funnily enough 5dave actually entered with a similiar looking entry named Goblins. As expected, everything from the architecture to the landblock work was done very well. The coaster has two stations and is self dueling on a course that mirrors itself. There's also a tower ride inside the rock fromations. It was a very close match and when the results were posted Levis had just edged out 5dave by getting the tie breaking vote. Many people feel that 5dave got robbed but both entries were very nice and represented the best of each player... it's just a shame that one had to lose.
Yeah, I gotta give it to Dave too. As cool as hacking is, nothing beats aesthetics... and Dave's has that to the max. Also it's got the best coaster I think I've seen so far in this competition.
Still, though, 2 really nice entries, shame one had to lose.
I guess im the only Levis fan here... I thought his entry was the clear winner and imo it's the best in the contest yet. Maybe I like it so much because the Hobbit is one of my favorite books and Levis created my favorite seen with Smaug the dragon sleeping on his pile of gold. IMO that alone had 2x better aesthetics of Dave's whole entry. The coaster was amazing and as good as Dave's duel was how can you beat a 3-car duel on a single coaster! Amazing work Leo, I was simi rooting for Dave because I think I would have a better chance against him in the elite 8, but I am also happy that the best entry won. Congrats and gl... but only in the next round
Dave I really liked your entry. The coaster(s) were awesome and a great type to use on a micro park. Like everyone has already said the atmosphere was outstanding and I loved the little details like the cave and shops all around it. I can also see how 4 judges went the other way. It's clearly smaller then Leo's park, but I also think you put less work in and maybe underestimated Levis a bit. Otherwise I don't see what more you could have done, good luck with whatever you do next.
And Gwazi, trust me the judges seemed to hate it too. Just about all of them said they could go either, lol.
I hated 5dave's coaster it looked ugly to me... And Levis' well I tried to watch but I got so bored and his coaster was covered to the max so you couldn't actually see what was going on and it was so slow... Neither of them really appealed to me. They were both good but neither of them were great... I would have said 5Dave as his was a little more interesting to watch
I would have gone with 5Dave on this one. It was more pleasing to the eye in my opinion. I mean, Levis' was... (best imitation of the monster from Frankenstein) BROWN!!...BROWN!!!!...BROWN!!!!!
I also thought it was too big, and the coaster was hard to follow.
Either way, they were both great entries. Good luck to Levis in the Sweet 16!
5Dave's looks more impressive at first glance, but Ill have to look at them both before I can really tell. I want to see this dragon thing Kumba was talking about.
personally im not sure which way i would go on this one.
Levis-you had a great, highly detailed park. the mere size and construction is a hugh feat(trust me, after Waterson Mines i know!) also the detail was top notch, and you can never go wrong with Lord of the Rings! what i feel let this park down, WAS the hacks. you had this super complicated, impossible to follow, slow, knida unexciting coaster. while it was hack amazing, it didnt have the wow factor that other hacks of your had. it was also knida annoying having to flip back and forth between different views, and perspectives in order to just understand the path of the coaster, let alone see it with the scenery visable. the peepablity was nice but most of the peep rides wernt visable, which makes it seem like you are hiding them. it would have been nicer, IMO, if you had put some of those rides up higher on the mountain.
5Dave-this park was great, just i didnt feel there was much there. the coasters were nice, nothing amazing, but fun to see. the details were, as always amazing, but few in this park, almost overpowered by the land blocks. the freefall was nice, the colors were great, it just didnt capture me. it wasnt enough to look at. i think you could have expanded the amount of details, the hieght, the buildings.
so really i think im leaning toward 5dave's overall but it would be a very hard choice for me! congrats both on GREAT parks!
Is it just me or do other people think that there should have been some better judges?
Its starting to feel to me that the most chaotic and awkwardly crammed maps win no matter how good the other one is

Both entries were neck and neck but come on a shoestring coaster on a 15x15 map? Thats insane. Congrats.
