Description
Advertised as "Where the West Begins", Bonnie & Clyde is inspired by some of the architecture and stories of the Fort Worth stockyards. The park was started about a year and half ago and mostly built then, when H2H came along a few months back I mostly forgot about it, but it's now complete.

+ That layout!
+ Architecture for the most part was well done.
= Foliage: trees with underbrush were well done, but the blank grass patches in front of the station didn't look very good.
= The cars were cool but aren't to scale at all.
- There's no real entrance to the area, the one path leading in sort of looks like an afterthought and leads into a backstage area.
- The atmosphere of the main street didn't really feel like a wild west town. The Bonnie & Clyde theme could've been sold a little better I think.

Thanks, CSW! I agree that the cars were awful, and the foliage was weak, definitely a point I need to improve in the future.
Even though the wild west theme is playing, it's not meant to be "Wild West", more around the depression era, a lot of the architecture is inspired by Fort Worth and Dallas, so it's got more of a "tex-mex" flair than wild west. A lot of the architecture is inspired by the Fort Worth Stockyards area, and the mansion at the end of the street is meant to be a cattle baron's mansion. I'm not sure if that makes things better or worse, but at least I've explained it.

Kind of felt the same way about this as csw, definitely a great layout, but the surroundings left a lot to be desired. I wasn't a fan of the single straight street, probably would of worked a lot better if there was more of a city and you had a grid going, but just the single street was ugly.
I definitely think the quality of content is there, but its just organized and planned poorly. I also think you can spend more time polishing and adding detail to your work to make it more cohesive an interesting.

What a beautiful layout. Flawless and very reminiscent of Lightning Racer. However, I couldn't get into everything else after that. Architecture was bland, that station was awful, foliage was mediocre, there wasn't much else on this map that was interesting. I'd give it a 50-55%

I reckon I'll do the classic pros and cons.
+some pretty solid buildings. I especially liked the one with the model T outside, that was some good period-western stuff. A slightly refreshing take too.
+layout was pretty good. Does the job, although its perhaps not so exciting.
+coaster station was lovely
+generally a good atmosphere all around.
- felt a bit unfinished in places- parts missing on the coaster station, walls missing, fences, foliage a bit bare, etc. Could have used a lot of details (lamps, banners, flowers, etc) to really add some spice and life into the park
- I think a flat or two and just some more 'stuff' would have added a lot to the park. It didn't take me very long to really see everything.
-gonna just in general reemphasize the unfinished stuff. You should have sent me a copy before release! I could have given you some pointers
65% from me, could be higher with some more work. But it should be design.

That layout is amazing. Love the architecture of the station too, but I think it needed more in the way of fencing surrounding the queue. Right now the transition is a little too abrupt and you can see the edges of the path objects. I also think the surroundings didn't have quite enough development to support the layout as a Design. The layout and timings are just perfect though, I can't get over that.

Pros
- Really good layout.
- The station was really good.
- The architecture was solid.
Cons
- Didn't really sell the theme that well, I think the textures and trees used weren't that convincing.
- Wasn't a big fan of the blankness of the trains station roof.
- I think you overused the big trees a bit.
- Lack of entrance is a bit of a bummer.
- The grass in front of the station made it seem too bare.
In my opinion, the layout was the best thing about the design, just need to work on your surroundings more.

shouldn't it be that the architecture and supporting rides are auxiliary to the main focus which is the layout?

If the only requirement of a design would be a good layout than we would be nothing more than a glorified TPR.

NE is a architecture-focused website. That's just the way it is. Yes I feel the same way as you do and tried to argue the point but I've come to the realization that 1) we're lucky to have a decent rct2 community at all given its age and 2) this will always be a architecture-focused website because artist and architects are the majority of the members and panelists. When it comes to releases I just download, enjoy, and respectfully disagree fairly frequently.

I actually didn't mind this austin; borderline design for me. I enjoyed the layout, despite the somewhat awkward path layout as mentioned above it read very clearly like an old west town. The central road, sidewalk, archy, it was quite impressive.
However, having that as the main focal point was just not as effective as if it was more clearly an area of a larger park. It was just so closed off, and therefore didn't make much logistical sense. Had you made it clearer that this was a themed area then this design would have been a lot stronger I think. There wouldn't have been the layout problem, the train wouldn't need to surround the coaster thus perhaps leaving room for some non-park context (eg roads, fencing, different foliage, parking lot possibly).
Maybe it's just because I personally prefer the more "realistic" take on things, but I did think this just fell short. Foliage could have been improved as well, you relied on the large Liampie trees a little too much; the best foliage combines many different trees and underbrush together to create something that is varied and texturally interesting.
