    Yay!

It seems that it's no longer connected to the Project, so the screens aren't showing up.

Anyways, Ling made the entrance island, and started the island to the left of it, which was finished by csw, who also did the island in the rear-right. Shnupz did the island to the right of the entrance, and the final island was mine.

awesome, i don't think anybody can deny anymore that the guys on reddit are good

Is this the one where I fixed the woodie?

  • inthemanual%s's Photo

Yeah. Ling ended up having some timing issues after he finished the entrance Isle, so csw ended up finishing that island, and replacing the woody.

EDIT: inthemanual beat me to it.

Shame this hasn't gotten any comments.

I really liked this, generally the quality was decent and it was a lot of fun to look around. Could've done with being slightly larger areas, but I understand how difficult it is to build a collab :)

    Good job guys

I'm just gonna break this down by area, since its a nice clean 4-corners thing.

Entry:  Very nice atmosphere.  The path islands with the sunken foliage are a nice touch and the skyway is a nice tame ride for an entry.  Generally a nice inviting start that doesn't steal the limelight; maybe a little dark architecture-wise.  The junior coaster's layout is a little odd, but the path interaction with the tunnel dive is pretty cool.

Russian corner:  This corner starts the trend that all four share; a strange split in the middle that divides the island into tenuously connected sections.  Trees in the middle of a narrow dirt path - good idea, not the best execution.  It might have been better as a queue line or a separate walking attraction or trail, rather than the main park path.  The invert station buried in the mountain is pretty cool, and the interaction with the town is solid.  Still, I can't help wishing it were less sprawling; there seems to be a fair bit of filler just to get to the next element.  The last dive over the fort(?) into the cork is my favorite.  I love seeing baba yaga references, but I don't understand why the foliage is different there.  Nice touch separating it from the town with the fence though.  As for the town itself, the architecture works very nicely in places and jumbles together in others.  Some bigger patches of single building style would offer breathing room; not everything needs to be 1x2 or 2x2.  The farm and looper are unfortunately overshadowed by the other farm and looper, which begs the question - why does this park have two arrow loopscrews next to farms?

VESUVIUS: Very pleasant architecture here, with one major exception- the coaster station and queue don't seem to belong to the same theme as the rest of the area.  The coaster track and train colors also say more "tropical island" than "roman" to me.  The path is a little awkward, wrapping around the back at the map edge, but once again very nice work with the path islands.  The hyper layout is pretty solid, though it takes the last camelback kind of slow.  I found it a little weird that there was a big empty volcano crater, with no volcano object in it.

Tropical Asian Ruins Sort of Place:  Is themed to be a Tropical Asian Ruins Sort of Place, but in odd chunks of just one of those themes at a time.  There's the Tropical Beach, the Asian Hillside, and then the Clifftop Ruins, and they don't really gel into one cohesive area - they're actually divided from each other by walls of jagged rocks.  One thing they do have in common is a nice foliage mix, which uses some of the less-common trees well.  The aforementioned rock walls work pretty nicely too, particularly down on the beach.  The stranded rafts are picture-perfect, a great touch.  Are they from the shipwreck?  Did they settle on this island, or are they discovering an already populated land?  Fantastic detail to draw a viewer in.  The coasters are a little less glamorous; the dive machine is kind of ho-hum, with no added fanfare (tunnel, photo, theming) to the dive proper, although there would be some killer views from the path, and oddly enough from the queue for the other coaster.  The mine train's last drop certainly adds interest.  Architecturally the area is relatively bare, but there are a lot of subtle hacks to add detail, and they're all performed quite cleanly.

Malta:  Typhoon is probably my favorite coaster in the park.  The compositional use of the bright blue and the very simple station just make it very nice to look at, and I prefer the layout to the other arrow conveniently placed across the lagoon for comparison.   The S&S towers are nicely done as well, though being named "Eruption" and all they probably would have been a better fit in the flat-bereft VESUVIUS area.  I'm kind of ehh on the architecture in malta, station buildings aside, since there isn't much interesting going on and the re-used 2x3 building blends into the path.  It all works well enough, I just can't get enthusiastic about it.  Cutlass, however, is a lot of fun to follow around.  I'm not super keen on the big hill under it, but the farm is fantastic.  Cool silo, cooler scarecrow sculpture, all in all a very believable little farmstead.

This was enjoyable to explore. Lovely landscaping and generally decent architecture. A good job of interacting your roller-coasters with the landscaping and area around them. Great work! 65%.

Haha, I knew someone would point this out.

Unfortunately, by the time I realized there was another arrow across the pond from mine I was just about done with the area. I kept it though because I thought it looked nice. Perhaps one of these days I'll make a park full of arrow loopers

this should get some more votes!

I just got a notification that it went up for accolade voting. Would be surprised if it actually won.

This has some nice bits, but its definitely not accolade quality.

    Your welcome tim :)

I actually thought this was low Bronze, really surprised it got a silver. I just wanted the voting to be finished.

  • ][ntamin22%s's Photo

wow- had never realized this wasn't fully scored.

This may just be the heavest example of accolade inflation I've seen. Since a lot of the votes are 8 months old, and we've received an unusually consistent stream of full LL releases lately, I wonder if many panelists would change their vote. The recent three gold LL parks remind us what good LL RCT looks like. But it may be just me. Baffled at the score, sorry guys. :p

This is more bronze quality, yeah.
