Pro Tour 4. When the elite battle, who will come out on top?
Prelim #2 - Best Non-Track Attraction
Please note that failure to follow any of the following rules will result in disqualification.
Pro Tour 4 Prelims
Unlike before, you won't be granted qualification if you win. Each entry is judged by the elite and must hit an average of 80% or above to gain qualification to the final round. The reason for the short deadlines is that we want to emphasise that we are looking for potential, your entry will be judged on quality, not quantity. The prelims are a showcase of talent, show us the quality you are capable of building to gain a qualification spot. Results from each prelim will be posted around 2 days after each deadline.
(1) To gain qualification an average score of 80% or higher from the elite panel is needed. (2) Your entry must meet the correct prelim criteria. In each category you will be judged on the criteria alone, you may wish to enhance this by additional surroundings, however keep the main criteria in mind. (3) You may enter as many prelims as you wish, but remember this is a contest of quality, not quantity. However, only 1 entry per person, per prelim is allowed. (4) There is no limit on how many people can qualify. If you hit the 80% mark, you will qualify regardless of where you finish in the prelim. (5) Your entry MUST be anonymous. Whilst your style may give your work away, there MUST be no mention of who has built the entry. All entries must be never seen before work. This includes streaming or posting any screenshots of old, recycled, work or new work. (6) Entries must be submitted to us by the respective deadline via our PM system.
"Damn this is excellent! The drop tower is well framed by stunning theming. I love how well the DC comic theme was translated into game. The Lex Corp building is fantastic. The architecture all around has a great comic book feel and the fortress of solitude for Superman was great as well. The custom soundtrack was another great touch All around love this! " -Pacificoaster
"If this is the pre-cum of this person's entry, I can't wait for the facial." -Milo
"I loved the Q and the Daily Planet building. The atmosphere was great. You only lose points from me since the ride did not work and there were no peeps. Overall a very strong entry and we seem to have a great new "non-elite" parkmaker to root for in the final. " -Kumba
"I'd rather have one entry that's as good as this than a bunch of decent ones. I really loved the theming in this entry, everything really adds to the Superman atmosphere. Also really smart to sink the 2x2 oak trees into the ground to create a large bush, reminds me how people in rct3 sink their objects into the ground to create 'new' ones. Also like the broken up highway, signs (it's a bird, it's a plane, it's...) and overall clean look this entry has. Only thing I didn't like were those 1k posted signs on top of the buildings, it just doesn't look right or aesthetically pleasing imo. Anyway, very good entry and my favourite of this round." -Six Frags
"Fell in love with this from the second I opened it. Great architecture, great atmosphere and it's good to see someone finally pull off a shoestring drop tower. I've attempted it in the past in LL and it is unbelievably difficult to make work correctly. Fantastic job. " -Loopy
"Well this was awesome. Nothing more to say. The only thing I would've done differently is to use the flying/lay-down coaster instead of the dive machine for the seats. Amazing how the overall quality of RCT in general is rising." -5dave
"Excellent work, atmospheric, true to the theme and great colours and architecture. Full scale park like this will be very highly ranked in the final i'd have thought. " -Turtle
"On par with my favourite from the last round. Everything showed quality, there were parts that weren't perfect, but nothing needs to be 100% spot on in a prelim entry. The ride itself could have been better with flyer/lay down cars, but the structure of the ride was fabulous." -Louis
"80% - Great hack and good theming, but the atmosphere here wasn't very strong in my opinion. It also took me a while to notice that the area next to the coaster wasn't a backstage area. The 'parkmaking' could've been stronger... Still a very cool entry overall! " -Liampie
"Definitely strong and shows true talent with the game. Some pieces of this were really great - the "Building A Better Metropolis" sign with the fake skyline, the broken bridge, the massive sculpture above the queue... landscaping and foliage were also pretty strong. The layout of this area had me puzzled though, as it seemed the paths on the "upper level" were all for backstage happenings, which could have been made more clearly. I also felt the entry relied too heavily on 2x2 buildings, even for an urban theme, although they were really well done. Wish the coaster worked too, even if the focal point was meant to be the drop tower (which was really well done as well!). Overall, a fantastic entry all the same, and I hope to see this builder in the finals! " -Steve
"Great stuff. I loved the massive support structure and its blue color which had a great contrast to the yellow track running over it. The whole area seems a little chaotic though. Great realistic touches all over the place. Should be awesome to see a fullscale park with this quality. " -Fr3ak
Wooohooooooooooo!!!! Not bad for a prelim, I think.
Thanks for the comments and scores from the panelists, and the weird layout (the "themed backstage area") was originally going to be just that, as I had a different park layout planned, but changed everything around to what it is now which led me to make that an actual area, etc etc. I know, it's a bit messed up.
This was also going to be a complete Six Flags DC Comics-themed area, but after seeing the first round of prelims realized that maybe I ws going a bit too far with the idea, so I cut it off to where it is now. There are things that I wanted to add, and others that I wish would have ended up better than they are, but that's fine. The final release turned out to be fine with me.
Kudos to CP6, who helped me with the whole shoestringing thing via a pretty extensive tutorial. My version didn't exactly end up perfect, as the exit is off and some other things, but overall In think it's good. I had hoped for the lay-down cars as well but there was a bit too much trouble involved with that. Hopefully my hacking skills can improve prior to the actual contest.
I thought the supports on the ride looked great, nice work dude. The green and purple building was probably my favorite piece of architecture out of the bunch. I loved the foliage you made, and the music to the park was really cool. The drop area with the superman symbol was really neat in how it was tucked into everything around it. I don't know why, but I really liked the red phone booth too, just perfect.
The paths did seem a really bare to me in places, but it of course it isn't the biggest feature of the park.
I'm really excited to see what you impress me with again in the finals, and good luck.
awesome entry, and classic nin work. I can't help but wonder how the ray gun stays afloat though- is it attached to the drop ride (which is awesomely hacked, btw, I can't even begin to think how it works ). good stuff though
I really thought this was great. In hindsight, perhaps 95% was 5% too high, but I felt that it was a really strong entry and was really up there with the very best.
You deserved your spot in the finals before this, but this proves you deserve the place even more. Congratulations nin, I can't wait to see you do well in the main event.
Well worth the wait. Really strong archly, theme, atmosphere, and a great ride. Of course the car choice was a little strange to me, but overall a very good little section. Am I the only one that noticed the tops if the grass by the turnpike were superman colors? Great little detail. Loved the building a better metropolis sign as well.
Too bad you where the only one in this round.
Insane drop though, i'm not sure if i would survive that.
A very colorful entry, nice architecture in some places.

Anyway it looks brilliant man, Well done nin.
Edit: Just noticed that the 'non track ride' is the drop ride on either side of the track my bad.
