This was really nice, i enjoyed it a lot. I questioned myself why you didnt submit this competitively when i made the map, because i think this one had a realistic chance to win.
Because there's not really any point while the panel remains composed as such. I might do more LL in the future, but for the time being I've swung out of RCT and into StarCraft 2 and BioShock.
Thanks for the comments guys (here and in the AD).
Innovate...the panel will always differ in opinions...
I was also hurt with some of my releases, but it doesn't help anyway, i just switched back to build for fun, on a more serious level in each new project.
Don't give up Ling... i like your style a lot.
I'm having the same thoughts as Jonny, this would've had a good chance.
Be realistic. If I don't think something's going to win, why would I want to waste the admins' and panelists' time with it? The biggest weakness was clearly the layout so... why send it in for design? This was even brought up in the Dump-Place. I still feel my architecture is my weakest point overall though. It has been that way since Skyline.
I'm not really "hurt" I just definitely get the feeling that work by me earns lower scores than work of the same quality by others. Many of the panelists are extremely consistent and give detailed feedback to back up their scores. Others appear to feel they are above giving their opinion and get angry when called out on it even when they're by far and away the outlier(s).
I love that Phatage thinks this was worse than this. Also, that this was design worthy, yet this is a measly 40.
I'm used to seeing pierrot vote 20% below what something should be though, so not gonna dispute that.
I've officially lost all respect for Phatage. It seems like he's just angry about something and taking it out on accolades.
I am surprised that Phatage and pierrot voted it so highly, though.
Stop acting like you're a victim here. Your profile says you're 21 but you're about as mature as I was when I first joined this site at age 15, the difference being that I actually could win accolades and contests.
When we panelists get parks to vote on, we don't see who made them. So if your stuff gets a low vote, it's because it's bad. I honestly can't tell if something is made by you because most of the work you do does not stand apart from others for better or worse. It's really that simple and we're not going to change our voting style because you can't make something better than we did 10 years ago.
This looks semi interesting from above but I don't make any judgments until I see something full-sized, preferably in-game. Judging a park solely from an overview is equivalent to judging a movie solely from a trailer.
If your vote is an outlier, you should probably explain your reasoning for it. I understand Ling calling out Pierrot for this, but not really Phatage. Phatage's votes seem to be in the lower half on Ling's submissions, but not consistently outlying. Nonetheless, I'm sure you'd both appreciate explanations more than rudeness and insults.

It's kind of a moot point when there are no low votes present due to Ling taking his ball and going home.
The idea of the panel is to provide a benchmark for what the website feels is worth promoting and branding itself with. The panel is by no means objective, nor does it claim to be, but it certainly does work on the whole, I'm sure you can agree. If you feel you've been slighted, Ling, by all means, opt out. I'd just prefer that you not shit all over everyone else just because you aren't getting the result you want.

I have nothing to add to this excellent post other than a reminder - NE has always been one relatively narrow lens to view RCT through, and if your work falls outside of what the "NE style" has come to be that does not preclude you or anyone else from enjoying it. If you feel the panel is not going to consider your work for accolades, by all means release it separately; if you want to make front-page stuff, you will have to pander to whatever the panel likes and stop whining. If you could care less what the panel thinks and just want people to share your enjoyment, then you do not need the panel to validate you.
I think the panel works very well. I've certainly been an outlier at times but that's always going to happen. It means its not based on one persons opinion. I very rarely know who I'm voting on so it's not a factor for me. I will always vote exactly how I feel about a park and if that means giving Quad Racer a 70% when it scores 35% average then I will happily do that.
My average difference from the average is 7.77% while my average vote is 52.43% which is slightly higher than the average entry score of 50.55%. (I was a low vote on Castello De al Mare but I stick by that vote, not a bad park but slightly below accolade level in my opinion due to layouts I just didn't get one with.)
I'm sorry that you feel that people are targeting your releases but I don't believe it's true. And the voting system is designed to get rid of that. For example in the case of Aurora if you removed Pierrots vote and made it 100% it still wouldn't have got a design. I voted highly for Skyline but I don't think Aurora was on that level and would have voted similarly to the average.
it's possible i may have voted this a 65... but if i could go back in time, knowing what i know now, your attitude would've scored a 0; ultimately dropping the score to a rounded-down 30.
funny thing, the caption next to your attitude score read, 'grow a pair'. now go and take a vacation from this site and fully hit the potential this design shows with a new one.
I think you're confusing "not being able to take criticism" and "not seeing a submission as a winning entry, therefore not trying to submit it competitively."
If I had sent it in, and it had not scored design, that would be three failed attempts in a span of a few months, which always earns ire from the members here.

I don't know anything about the voting process beyond what I see from the submitter's side. I can only infer the process from voting trends.
It is what it is. I'm glad a couple people like my work, particularly because I just don't play that much.
