I'm re-installing LL onto my laptop, but the patch for the US version isn't working. Can someone either re-post it or contact me on AIM at fr33kincag3 and send it to me through that? Thanks in advance.
I was working on a LL park (Pacifica) and I had moved the gate further back on land, and I managed to really screw things up. The peeps would appear at the end of the bridge, but they wouldn't walk past that point. You're tutorial directions (3.3 checkerboard) I had downloaded the newer trainers as recommended and it worked for me first time. It works perfectly now. I even put a link of this topic on Twisted RCT, as that's where I'm hanging out these days. Come check it out sometime. It's Wolfman's Castle II: Scroll to the bottom and the DL link is there as well.
very glad to hear 3.3) has worked for someone. it's one of the most complicated hacks in ll and it wasn't easy to properly word it.
I must agree. When I first read it I said, Woa! Posix must think we're rocket scientists. I better print this. I'm glad I did. After reading it a few times, & highlighting key points, I got a good grasp of the idea. You did great with it. I was able to relocate the property fence off in inconspicuous places, put short bushes around it and you can't even tell it was there. I also relocated the fence under water next to the bridge so the structure doesn't have that ugly fence on it. Too bad it can't be replaced with a hedge, a brick wall, wrought iron etc.
Personally, I like to keep the use of the trainers to a minimum whenever possible. Sure they can assist in building some nutbustin' attractions, but I rather have the fun of the basic park, and not worry about having to figure out all the tricks. Still, I'd like to try a few more hacks, at least I could say that I did a few extraordinary attractions.
Do you have any suggestions for someone who is starting out with hacks? Mostly, I've done build through stuff, and changed trains & coaster functions. I also like the peeps in the park. It just seems somewhat satisfying when you hear them screaming on a coaster you designed yourself, rather than watch an empty train rolling along. You also get a good idea about what peeps think about the attraction. To me, this is as important as the ratings. Eh, but that's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, the peepless parks are devestating, in a good way.
i think if multi-wide paths in ll were peep-friendly a lot of people would let peeps in. it's still beyond me why rct2 players don't make use of that.
but anyway, how to start with hacks.
while i very much understand your dislike about hacks, i do them for cleanness (e.g. no peep jams) and for realism's sake.
you learn hacking, or rather, how to use trainers, by having certain things in mind you want to do but which aren't possible without trainer usage.
i'd say that 95% of all "hacks" are done with beast's "zero clearances". so that's what you want to experiment with.
if you don't know how to do a certain hack, this is the place to ask for explanation.
