I'm sorry zodiac. Just make sure you get LL working again, or else you'll be missing out on an awesome experience.

Thanks Gwazi, LL was actually the first RCT game I owned, being too dumb to realize I needed the original so I hed to go back to the store, blah blah blah. Ehh, I don't have any money, but that's what grandparents are for. :)

    Just a question:

Does anyone else have a black bar going down the right side of their screen when playing LL or RCT2 in the resolution 800x600? (Or whatever it is...)

I play in the other two screen resolutions, and there is no black bar.
I don't recall it ever doing this before.

    Help would be gladly appreciated.

^I'd be willing to bet that RCT just creates that for the fact that your reslution is not what it's supposed to be. Just stay out of 800x600 res. or better yet check your computer's resolution and switch RCT's to whatever is closest.

Play in window mode. It's better anyway.

Awkward. After following this guide perfectly every step, I can now double-click SV4's that have been hacked and have them open up in LL, which I could not do. But now I can't open them from inside the game; when I try to "open game" from the RCT menu I get the invalid data message.

are you sure you patched it with the drexler?
  • hxzero%s's Photo
Yep. If I didn't I wouldn't have been able to open any of my hacked files at all. I think maybe it has to do with changing the settings so that I can double-click and open the files.

    oh shit. i misread. sorry.

Okaaaayy, so good news and bad news. Good news is, I bought an LL disc on the internet and it came in the mail today. High five, right? Wrong. Bad news is, it was a fucking Deluxe disc. :( So I'm sendin this bitch back... yeah I know there wasn't much of a point to this post but oh well....

    lol
I did the same thing looking for a replacement disc, 'cos my old LL one was scratched to hell. Got a "Deluxe" at freaking Walmart assumign it meant all three. Waste of ten bucks.

Have you tried descratching your disc? I use a radial scratch repair & cleaning system made by Curtis. I've done this with my RCT2 disk and not had any problems with it since. I also use a product called d_skin which helps to eliminate the possibility of scratches.

I've also got Deluxe, as well as the original LL disc. Made a copy of the original LL disc and use that to play when I want to look at RCT1 parks. Just use the RCT vanilla disc from Deluxe to install RCT and then use my copied LL disc to install that.

that sounds like an unhealthy issue, hmm.
honestly, i have never experienced this problem myself and i also wasn't the one who came up with the double-click workaround in the first place, so i'm sorry but i can not help you with this.
maybe double-check the properties you entered in the sv4-settings window?
i'm guessing you forgot to add the %1 after the rct.exe path? (i might as well be wrong though)

Have you tried descratching your disc?

HELLS YES I've tried over 100 times at least. Now I ordered one off eBay instead of Amazon. This one should be right cause the guy selling it said "YOU MUST HAVE ORIGINAL RCT DISC TO PLAY THIS GAME" so it better as hell be right...
  • Ling%s's Photo
    lol
as for "hxzero"s problem, sounds like the Drexler stopped working...
  • hxzero%s's Photo
Nono, I can still open up hacked files. Just not from inside the game. only if I doubleclick on the file outside of rct. Oh and posix I have the %1 after the RCT.EXE path.

    are you on winxp?
  • hxzero%s's Photo
    Yes.
  • Ling%s's Photo
ooh... my disc is the exact opposite; if I double-click on one outside of the game, it says invalid data.

Also, if someone could help me make the "please install the original RCT before installing LL" message go away? (it only appears when I first put in LL, ad if I double-click on the desktop shortcut, it's fine... the message is just annoying)

***note: the following applies to the regular "rollercoaster tycoon" and its expansion "loopy landscapes".
if you own "rollercoaster tycoon: gold edition" or "rollercoaster tycoon deluxe", which are merely bundles of the two above mentioned, you can run the game but not open the park releases from this site because the "drexler patch" (read about it under 1.3) was never updated to work "gold" or "deluxe".***

I heard that in the UK, they had "Totally Rollercoaster", which is the same game as "Rollercoaster Tycoon Gold". According to rcthelp from rctspace, it'll run under Totally Rollercoaster, which is the UK version of RCT Gold.
