I thought it was a good idea, and I like all the details and signs throughout your park.. It's daring to enter the PT with an idea like this, because the originality factor just isn't there (like your X-Sector themed PT prelim)..
The thing I liked most about ML is that it started at the beginning of Kumba (like you said, 'it was meant to suck') and progressed to be better at the end.. I also like the idea of the coaster going through all the themes of your coasters in BP..
And what about that sound of the hacked coaster!? That was just.. weird.. I think I've never heard it in the game..
Overall good job, I enjoyed it, and I can't wait to see KC!
J/k Kumba. I've just always sorta considered us rivals because of our massive egos, hard work and consistantly shooting ourselves in the foot anytime a big opportunity comes along.
Kumba, you know you can do better than this. Why keep trying to make things that are 'different' when you can build somthing interesting. Theres nothing new in this park, i looked for about 2 - 3 minutes before getting bored. Come on, you didnt even have a coaster!
Anyway, I've finally looked at the park. Keep in mind that while I have access to all 14 parks, I don't know their order, so I will not look at them until each one is "revealed." That way, in a way, I get to participate in the same discovery and surprise as everyone else. At least until the first place park.
Anyway, Iris has obviously been pretty damn harsh on this, and I think it's mostly because of the half-assed ness of it. However, I opened it up and was actually pleasantly surprised by it! It was a lot better than I had been expecting!
Obviously, I get the idea. And I'll echo the others' comments about your being brave to submit something like this to the PT. However, that said, the execution is pretty good. You excel at spoof parks (as long as you're not making poop jokes), and the best thing about Memory lane is that is showcases your underrated skill for all types of parkmaking styles. I think you really can do a lot when you put your mind to it, but as I've mentioned time and time again, it's that lack of discipline that hurts you. In this park, however, I enjoyed the hacks, the use of trackitecture, the architecture itself, and most of all the little details. The teleportation pods, the structures, the coaster trees, the numerous joke signs... they all contribute very well to the park. You gotta love a market named after penguin_BOB.
Obviously, the flaws stem from the same sort of eclecticism. You chose to create basically a dozen different themes that are featured more like stalls at an expo than like a theme park with different themed areas. So naturally, you're not going to get a park that flows, except in a chronological manner. The size also hurts, of course.
But I'm pretty sure you're aware of that. The more important thing is that you set up a goal for this park (to reminisce and entertain), and you met it. It gives me hope that if you set a goal for greatness, you can achieve it. But it also pleases me to see that you're not afraid to build for yourself. As long as you're having fun, honestly, who cares if it wins Spotlight or not?
So congrats on this entry. Much better than I expected. I will simply reiterate that if you still want to win Spotlight, you're gonna need a bit of discipline in your parks. But this last place entry certainly rocked the last PT's last placer.
It was small, but what was there was crazy! I loved the really fast coaster, never heard a coaster make such weird noise. The hacked coaster was wacky, yet awesome . I really liked the park, though I was finished with it in a very dhort time .
At least you ended up above the bench . (Panic Says: I thought the use of bare and empty land was elegant )
However, it was obvious that you werent trying to win anything with it. Also I think it could have been pulled off better as well. The park seemed more like an H2H park than a PT entry.
With that being said, my favorite part was the Jacko Shanty torture chamber. that cracked me up.
I wish you could have had a 'in the near future' section. It could have been awesome if you pulled it off right. like having a bunch of ghost pieces and a really ambiguous rollercoaster and stuff.
I'm really excited to see the rest of the entries, especially since the quality and ideas behind this one were pretty good... Now only if I could have a piece of that pizza now, I'm hungry.
The overview at first disapointed me but i downloaded the park and saw your ideas and the little things that made it great. I was a little disapointed by the size but it was great to see each section.
You made your work personal to you and the park did seem like you had fun with it. Thats really important when making a park so i applaud you for that.
From seeing Bayfront i can still remeber all the themes from a while ago so the coaster at the end did really impress me. A really good entry i am really looking forward to the rest.
