This submission understandably missed design, but it's still definitely worth looking at - as is pretty much everything Wicksteed has done. Wicksteed is maybe one of the best storytellers we have in the game, and he has a good eye for beautiful scenery too. Here, we have a thick foliage draped on top of a perfectly done jagged landscape, but he varies the density to make you look where he wants you to look - he's painting with open space on a canvas of trees. Among the trees he adds variation with the transition to the snowy peak. A great storytelling effect is how Wicksteed recycles some element found around the start of the path, but makes them more derelict. A pretty wooden building, a parked car and some street lights become a caved in wooden structure, a rusty old timer, and vandalised path objects at the end where the queue entrance is. It's ominous. Less subtle is the sacrificial site with the vampire waiting in the sky above, but again, the closer you look the more you notice - hidden in the ice are frozen human bones! Again, ominous. Another thing I appreciate is the 'no entry' sign for the exit path. 'No Entry' would be an obvious and fine thing to do, but Wicksteed sees an opportunity in this and goes with 'Keep Out! Vampires! There is more to discover and appreciate here, but I just want to illustrate why I think this is a great piece by a great, underrated parkmaker, not listing the entirety of this map's content.
