Sometimes you just know almost exactly what you're going to get from a participant...and sometimes you get thrown a curveball for better or worse (ie: Country Squire and Three Villages). In a contest where parkmakers tried more unique ideas then ever before, I just wished that one of the most creative of them all, Old Red...tried something a bit outside his usual style. A step up compared to most of his past work in terms of actual quality, the eye-popping ideas of "The Cave", the lightning-rod park, or "Get Lost!: A Dark Comedy" were unfortunately absent. Still, you knew that the landscaping would be nothing short of brilliant, which it was, but unfortunately that's all the park really had going for it in my opinion. Sure the dueling wooden coasters were pretty enjoyable despite very awkward layouts, the go-kart track was a great idea, and the forest fire was a nice (albeit small) touch, but the park just didn't have anything to really grab me and push it up to the upper echelon entries of the competition. The architecture was much improved, but even with all the vast improvements to Old Red's parkmaking ability, the extreme over-treeing, lack of any color at all, and drab-nature of the park anchored it in second to last.
Nice stuff, I think it was better then my entry so congrats on beating me
My fav part was the "R. R. Rally: Observation Deck" great use of building blocks to make such a huge struckure. I bet you were pissed not to have Tom's full tile land blocks, but you did very well with the 1/4 ones. I think you exacute elements of nature better then anyone around here and those waterfalls are proof as were the forest fires. The deul was great, strange in parts, but the timing was ok and they finished well. The go-karts were great, but wow were some parts high up, turn to wide and your dead. I think the only part I did not like was the tall wooden rooves in black and dark brown, just way to dark, very ugly looking imo, tho I have seen others do it (Phatage ). Another cool part was the names of the staff, way to repersent as champ of the comady round! I think I have come to excapt the fact that you tree alot, so that did not bug me.
Nice work, I hope to see more stuff from you, but please try some more risky ideas.
Can't load flie, object missing: LBB_WTR (Sounds like a water building block). I already dl'ed the PT2 again, didný help. From the screen it looks a bit monotonous. But I would have to see it in-game!
Cool park! The landscaping and waterfalls were both incredible. I thought the duelers were pretty good, and my only real complaint besides the colors is the fact that there aren't any guests to ride the gokarts. I've been over in Pennsylvania and Ohio where the trees look like that, and I think that Old Red used foliage very well.
That missing object thing might be a problem. Check your data folder for the file that you get, delete it and then load up the PT2 bench.
We might have a double object name here...
From the screens, the landscaping looks brilliant (no suprise). But, the rest of it looks monotonous, and some parts of the woodie's layout look a little weak too.
Aside from the very unorthodox woodie duelers (nice stats btw), the somewhat bleek atmosphere and lack of buildings, this was quite enjoyable. I loved the forest fires. However, the downfalls of this park really did give it the appropriate ranking. As usual Old Red, you pulled off some magnificent landscaping with glorious waterfalls that had a really good "outdoorsy" feel to it. The problem with this type of park, imo, is that I felt more like I was visiting a state park rather than a true amusement or themepark. Maybe that was your goal all along with this, but in the scope of this contest it really doesnt fit. Eitherway, I respect what you've done here and hope there's more to come.
Im pretty sure he dimported out the flat water tile to put in the one on the land base that he used for the waterfalls. Im suprised all the judges were able to open it, well I assume.
So if your not able to open the park its coz he cheated

How ironic, because the entry is ranked number thirteen. I bet he figured that the parks would have to be exported, so nobody would notice.
Pretty cool park actually. It lacked colors though, but I thought that the woodie was very nice and the landscaping was also really well done. The go karts ride area was really dead, mainly cause the ride doesn't operate...That really brought the park down IMO, you could have tried to make it work. It would have been a lot more fun to see those small karts driving around. But overall, I liked it. Nice landscaping and a cool woodie which I will be looking back at for many times.
Why aren't the results posted on the front page actually? It's one of the biggest rct events ever and they're not even posted on the front page. Anyway, I'm looking forward the the next park.
...opps...I might have put in a wrong object...at the start, I deleted alot of scenery I didn't want to use...then i read the rules...it took me quite some time to put it all back in...and i was to far along to start over...maybe a DQ is in order...?...
I say let him stay, because the other object he got rid of fulfilled the same purpose, just wouldn't look quite as good with the land quarter blocks hacked over it. I don't think it's a huge deal, assuming that you are telling the truth...
I really liked the woodies, and the forest fire idea was pretty good. But yeah, you are definitly the best landscaper at this community, just not the best with colours it would seem lol. A nice entry, i don't think you should be disqualified, its an easy mistake to make and afterall, you sent in a quality entry anyway so it adds to the site i guess. Look forward to the next one!
Hmm, pretty good Old Red. Whilst I disagree with X that you are the best landscaper around, you certainly do have a very unique and elegant style of landscaping. The foliage and trees worked well, and, unlike other, I very much enjoyed the woodies. I didn't, however, enjoy the architecture at all really. Was pretty repetative and the colour/texture selection was pretty poor. There also wasnt much to the entry, ie. only one coaster and a couple of other rides. There were some cool ideas though, such as the forest fire and that observation deck was nice.
I liked the waterfalls in there, but that was really it I guess...
I also disagree with X that Old Red is the best landscaper.. The overtreeing didn't really appeal to me, and it didn't feel that natural at all to me.. Natelox's previous PT entry for example DID feel natural (and his HR entry too)..
I also thought it was too bad the go-karts didn't run (although I don't know how to get them rolling as well ) even more because it was one of the more important rides in the the park.. It had an adventurous lay-out though, that I liked.. The woodies were a bit disappointing too to me.. Because of the many waterfalls and fires around the woodies there was a lot of lag which made them hard to follow for me.. I also think the architecture felt a bit cluttered and the colors were quite boring.. I got to say I liked Kumba's better, although this had the whole map filled..
