It's officially impossible. With so many great parkmakers at the site, and the number of contests we've held, you'd think by now we might have a repeat winner...but at NE where we like to arrogantly think of ourselves as 'the best of the best', the field is just too strong. In an attempt to defend his Pro Tour crown, last year's surprise winner cBass who managed to knock off the mighty Mala, slips to 7th this time around after a long absence following the Pro Tour, and that hiatus itself may be the sole reason the Phish didn't capture the crown this year. Of course with cBass you're going to get a hell of a park idea...that's just one of the fundamental rules of New Element. Whether he's perfectly recreating monuments of his home state, creating an elaborate, ground-breaking space station, taking us through his brain literally, or now...exploring the zodiac, one sign at a time. Each and every sign gets their own ride, varying in importance of course. The park features four coasters, including "Aries" (Vekoma Flying Dutchman), "Taurus" (a dominating wooden coaster), "Scorpio" (a twisting Intamin Sitdown Coaster), and "Sagittarius" (a launched shuttle coaster, with a pretty sweet custom arrow). The rest of the rides range from water rides like "Aquarius", flat rides like the crabbed out scrambler "Cancer", the carousel's "Leo", the awesome tipping scale of "Libra", to completely random stuff like the ghost train that represents "Capricorn", the submarine voyage of "Pisces", or the freefalls of "Gemini". While each zodiac sign is pretty on the money, the overall feel of the park slightly misses the mark for me...as it feels more like a collection of 12 mini ideas more then one, real solid entry. The coasters and actual architecture aren't quite as strong as some of the other entries, but the creativity more then makes up for it. And for one more extra added bonus, Bass added all the zodiac signs outlining the entire park border, something I'm sure we'll see mimiced very soon. So while the fish doesn't reclaim his crown, it's great to see a familiar face once again, and hopefully he'll stick around long enough to try one more time at becoming NE's first repeat winner.
Wow! I was expecting you to place much higher! This was a great park, with lots of creative details. I like the crab best. It is clearly no BOMB, but this was still a great park, and so far, my favorite. But it does make one wonder, what is coming up next?

Great park cBass, I think it was even sorta like mine coz you were clearly having a lot of fun with the concept aswell. I thinked I liked that fish pond kinda area the best, tho the hacked boat's names added nothing, when they could have been funny or something related to the theme, so I did not like that. The station for the woodie was great, wonderful details, tho the white nearly burned my eyes out. The cancer scrambler was fun, golf platforms as a Q, what an idea The virgo white castle was neat, great archy, I loved the custom flag ontop that seems to show up in half the park due to its hight. The bullseye was done nicely, I liked the detail on the arrow a lot. The scales of justice was nice, I enjoyed the themeing on the entry. Some very nice landblock use in the scropion are was the highlight there for me. The twin tower Gimini ride was nice, the simple blocks poping out of the ground in the back were one of my personal favroit details in the park. The aries flying coaster was ok, but on the weak side compared to the rest of the park. I was disapointed to find out my sign is rep'ed by a goat! Pretty boreing next to some of the other areas, you clearly hate me
I really enjoyed the park. Not the best thing I've seen on the pt... but definitely a great park. cBass, you really have a way of getting the theming done right, and integrating your rides into the theme. They're done so well, and the atmosphere is just so full of dense creativity.
I would have to question whether you've seen some of the great old flyers made in LL when you bestow such a title upon the one we have here - it's a creative and entertainingly original layout but not a "holy damn, that's good" kind of one, for me at least. I thought the spiral coaster was the most eye-catching machine in the park because it's so rarely done.
What really took me by suprise in this entry was the quality of the rollercoasters. I thought they were some of the best in the whole contest. Especially the flyer and the woodie.
You've definately stepped up with your coaster skills, that flyer was great and the woodie was awesome.
I loved the queue lines and how you didn't use regular queue paving, or any paving at all for that matter
Some of the sculptures you made were amazing, most notably, the Cancer ride. That was freaking amazing, i loved it, and good job not overshadowing or blocking it with Taurus. I also particularly liked what you did with Libra. Loved the symbols round the edge, really nice touch.
That Virgo thing took me a little while to work out as I didn't see the flight simulator, but now I get it, it's a really cool concept, nice job.
I really liked the water rides in the park, especially Aquarius which seemed to fit so naturally into the park.
Some of the cafés you built were great and really represented the rides they were therefore, in particular the Aquarius café. You really used waterfalls masterfully in the park, great idea with the station for Aquarius.
The only real downer i could find about the park was some of the architecture seemed a little dull and uninspired with simple forms. This was more than made up by some of the amazing pieces such as the Libra building and the Virgo area.
Overall, great work cBass, the best entry so far in my opinion.
Also, I'm suprised for cBass. Not only did he get 7th, but ride6 is ahead of him? I'm starting to think he's gonna be in the top 3 now, or at least top 5.
but i must say this is the first entry that intrigues me a lot to open it up, neat concept, nice 'border', and by the looks of it, it will be nice looked at in detail as well.
Also, I'm suprised for cBass. Not only did he get 7th, but ride6 is ahead of him? I'm starting to think he's gonna be in the top 3 now, or at least top 5.
Am I missing something here? I never thought Ride6 was an underdog in this competition, in fact I had him as the highest placed non parkmaker...
uhm, wow, talking about the greatest upset in rct-history..
I loved the park, and I think it was even better than BOMB, so I'm surprised to see this up already, and I'm also surprised by the (low) place the judges gave this entry..
What I liked most about the park, was the themeing. All the themes of the different zodiac signs were well thought out and executed perfectly..
My favourite has to be Scorpio; Some great landblock usage and a good coaster lay-out with great custom supports too.. Aquarius was also pretty cool, wandering through the rivers..
I also really liked the fact (like in JKay's park) that it's peep-friendly.. It did create some lag to follow the coasters, but with the use of a trainer that's not much of a problem..
I noticed you used some invisible paths to make it peep-friendly, which I think is a nice touch..
The architecture was either good and bad in places.. 'Ristorante Libra' was the best structure in the park imo, and Virgo's catle was pretty neat too..
On the other side, I thought the shops at the beginning of the park could've been a bit less blocky.. Aries station too..
What I think is a pity about this park, is that some themes could've been expanded upon.. I mean, Aries gets almost 1/4 of the map, and for example Gemini (could've been an awesome dueler) gets less than 1/3 of that..
I also thought while Aries had an awesome lay-out, there were some bare pieces of land that could've been used for those other rides..
However, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and for me it's a winner already!
wow didnt expect to see Cbass's name in that postion. this could get interesting
loved the park although i agree with six frags on several points. although i think it would be hard to give each sign equal weighting. i wasnt really a fan of the flier but the other coasters were cool. especially Taurus the bull. lovely woodie that sort of reminded me of pictures ive seen of the texas giant. (although not the same colour). The crab themed twist was awesome too . All in all a great park that has left me wondering what could possibly be next....
Wooooow. What a fantastic park, so many ideas packed in there, i was looking at it for absolutaly ages, and i doubt i've still seen every little detail! Aries and Taurus, so far my two favourite coasters in this thing, such amazing layouts, especially the woodie. I loved the crab, and the Libra scales ride, you seem to have loads of ideas when you build parks, in my opinion it is not quite BOMB, but it gives it a fuckin close shave!
I liked this one. Although the quality is somewhat inconsistant over the park it doesn't detract much. The concept was very nice and strangely enough my favorite thing was the band around the park. It just added that extra touch.
btw Iris, Scorpio is not Intamin, but a Schwarzkopf Jet Star/Jumbo Jet
Wow....now it starts to heat up! And Fatha's #3 is still dangling over someone's prospects of winning. At least we have the two remaining 5's out there now. Great park cBass...tons of little details that make me want to look over the park again and again. Unfortunately it just lacked a little cohesiveness. I too appreciate the peep friendliness of the park and was quite happy that a few of the parks in this competition made that extra effort (tho it didn't factor into my rankings).
Also, I'm suprised for cBass. Not only did he get 7th, but ride6 is ahead of him? I'm starting to think he's gonna be in the top 3 now, or at least top 5.
Thank you for happily showing off your age. Seriously now I'm not the best and I'm as suprised as anybody to have been ranked ahead of cBass... Still you make it sound like you doubt my abilities to play the game or be part of this contest.
Anyway Ghishy I'll get to looking at the park ASAP but it wasn't up before I went to bed and I'm trapped at school now. All in due time....
Metro, I think Steve beat me, at least from the rumors and I wouldn't cound either of the X's out either...
