right, this was a little side project i did with gigaforce because i felt like it and because i love his coaster skills. it took me two tries to get it done. i definitely see why it didn't win. it's nothing too special. i still like it though. also the fact that it's peep friendly is somewhat new, i think. don't remember a park where it has been done that way. of course, it's not such a big deal, i know that. just watch the station for a little while until the second train is ready to be loaded and peeps will come. what took me ages was removing the supports using the bury method. especially since there are some hacks that restore supports which you've removed before. so i had to do it twice.. ngah.
anyhow, hope this gives you a bit of a "oh, hmm, nothing too wowing, but nice in a way" moment.
by the way, after the inline-twist, the helix is glitched. it looks as if i forgot to restore clearances. i did it over and over, check the message log, but it still wouldn't go away. any ideas?
The entrance is underground, and a queue line leads straight from the entrance to the park to the coaster entrance, which is also underground. So the park is not peep-friendly, but the coaster is.
Well, I liked it alot, but I can't help but like the first attempt even more. Maybe it's the contrest between the coaster colors and red flowers that made it so beautiful. But I like this, and as steve said, the coaster station is definitley pretty.
What I didn't like is it seemed very unfinished, not so much as the grass, but those pools of water. That to me was the biggest drawback, it looked very awkward, like you didn't finish landscaping but you were planning in a river. Now the grass affected the park a little, not because it's plain, but because there's some places with grass that look like something is supposed to go there, that it's not the finished work. Some shrubs would probably of helped also. The fenced trees were a good idea, but it didn't really work here. And the name didn't really match the theme, unless it takes place in egyption marshlands, but I would expect more foliage.
But besides all my bitching I really enjoyed it. The coaster was great, the theming that was there was nice, and the peep idea was very cool, it's always real fun to watch the guests ride the coasters. Makes me jealous. Good job, and I'm looking forward to your upcoming solo.
you know, the funny thing is i could've won design if i had built enormously huge temples all over the place, did lots of jagged rocks and cluttered them with all kinds of shit. fuck that. i mean really, it's so noobish, stupid, unrealistic and without purpose. i am no longer cluttering rocks just for the sake of filling the map. i hate things without purpose, you know? no company would ever spend that much money on landscaping. it's just ridiculous. the task in rct that takes most skill is make something realistically themed. and by that i mean "themed" to an extent where you can actually say, yeah, it could be exactly like that in a park, but at the same time have it look filled.
i'm not bitter of losing or the comments i'm getting here, don't get me wrong. and don't bitch at me for it. don't. thing is, i just want to save myself from pointless overtheming. i want a purely realistic style. hope i can manage it one day.
I liked it. Looks better than most of the shit people have been praising around here lately. So it's not random and things have a purpose... yeah, I guess that makes it bad.
Ignore them, at least things have meaning in your parks.
That screen looks awesome.
Its nice to see some things completely different than most parks. I like the patches of grass and the simplicity of it. Incredibly realistic.
Again, looks great. If I could get LL on my computer, I would definately check it out.

I think it's demeaning to call it stupid and noobish to build in a style that you have obviously strayed from. I respect your choice and right to build what you want, but don't condescend to those who choose to build with different criteria in mind. I have no interest in trying to build something exactly like I could find it in real life because I prefer to use RCT as an outlet for imagination and not some test of reality. Rocks and temples serve an artistic purpose and to me that is purpose enough. Our definition of parkmaking perfection is very, very different.
That said, I found very little to love in this. I appreciate parts of it, but for the most part, it does not stimulate my creative side, which is why I play RCT. I'm glad you build for yourself tho, and don't sell out to the communities standards and expectations. If more parkmakers did that, there would likely be a lot more passion around this site.
This is an interesting debate. As for me, I definately tend to go towards realism, and really dont like the crazy, fantasy parks like Mala's and others. I tend to love classic feels and great atmospheres. I really liked this design because it is just so different. The themeing is so unique and very, VERY realistic.
I think parkmaking is defined differently for almost everyone on this site.
For what you were trying to achieve, it's a well executed park. It was very fun to watch the guests ride the coaster. The only thing that didn't make sense were the random patches of trees. They just seemed to stick out and look awkward, imo. But the design was very good.
Just not my cup of tea. I'd rather see stuff that can't be achieved in real life, but good job on making something look realistic, but still good.

I don't really want to turn it into a debate. I just wish Posix would be more accepting of other people's style choices.

But the grass is already there.
That's why it's not impressive, I think.
