    very nice louis/cocoa

these aren't even micros anymore. the 'rules' are being stretched to the point where these are just tiny parts of larger things. the whole point of a micro is to take a 15x15 bench or whatever and see what you can do in that confined space. these are nice but cocoa's and louis' shouldn't be considered micros. louis' was just an underthemed design and cocoa's was the entrance to a park that wasn't there.

it's just more challenging for the builder and more interesting for the viewer to see what people can do on a set micro bench.

That was exactly why I voted the way I did, although I gave Cocoa a little more credit for at least staying close to the spirit of what, IMO, 'micro's' should be. I thought Louis' was, in all seriousness, an attempt to be clever and stretch the boundaries of the rules...and said as much to Kumba when I sent my votes in. To me, it was nothing more than a relatively normal layout that merely reduced the surrounding tiles to fit within the tile limit which left nothing to expand upon the layout itself. That's not a 'micro' to me. Which was too bad because I thought overall, it was probably the best entry of the bunch. It just wasn't a micro.

Congrats to Cocoa, and....the lower placed entries...ya got's ta step ya game up. Because I KNOW that next month, there's gonna be at least one entry that's gonna be tough to beat.

who are you to say what a micro is and isn't? pretty obvious the rules state no larger than 400 tiles, so why do you care what people build?
  • K0NG%s's Photo
Like I said...it's the 'spirit' of what a micro is. Look up the fucking WORD "micro" genius....actually, I'll save you the time.

    mi-cro [mahy-kroh]
    1.extremely small
    2.minute in scope or capability

Like I stated previously and will reiterate now, there was nothing in Louis' entry that fit the criteria above. It seemed like an attempt to try to cleverly bend the rules. IMO, it failed. And, to answer both parts of your question...I was one of the judges.

you know what? fuck you, we posted at the same second and you thought i was talking to you but i wasn't. but it doesn't even matter to me, this stupid contest isn't even worth arguing over. why don't you back the fuck off of everyone on here, kong? this fucking place isn't even fun to visit anymore due to the number of annoying douches, don't even know why the fuck i waste my time here anymore.
  • Austin55%s's Photo
^I have to agree with you, about the number of annoying people. But I have to say youre an Admin, so why not do something about it? Except, I dont know what you could do honestly.

Soooo, Could us non-LL'ers have an overview?
  • inVersed%s's Photo
Shit just got real in this thread! :X
But seriously, I found Louis' entry clever and well done.

YOU know what? Go fuck yourself. You knew it was a miscommunication and still got all butt hurt and decided to come back at me like that instead of just saying that it wasn't intended for me. And why should I "back the fuck off" of people that bash MY country out of sheer ignorance (if this was a Dutch-based site and an American continuously bashed their country, I'd imagine a lifetime ban would ensue) or carry little bitchfights from thread to thread? At least I'm fucking HERE every day to notice this shit. I expected to get some backlash for my view on what constitutes a 'micro' and what seems to be a blatant attempt to stretch the rules as far as possible.....I just didn't expect an immediate "who are you?" type of response from someone I consider to be intelligent. And I reacted to that with a factual reply. Deal.

Good god. Both of you take it elsewhere would you. its like the bloody bitching from H2H5 all over again.

Anyway im happy with 2nd runner up. Its not my best work but It gave me some RCT time in a month I've been out of practice thanks to work.

WE should bring back the shitpile. Or ban K0NG. Congratulations to Cocoa.

K0NG you need to chill out.

This topic is about micros, so please no more comments about K0NG or I'll close this for a while.

DBB - Was very close between your entry and Louis. Just the detail and ideas on your micro gave it a slight edge. I have never been that crazy about the "piece of a park" concept, but you did it very well here. Now please make the rest of the park and get a real accolade with it :p

eXtremis - Very cool layout. Never even occurred to me that you could do that for a micro. The station and supports were great, just otherwise there was not much else. You get the MM originality award for sure tho

Sabretooth - Not your best work? Well honestly it was my favorite of your entries so far. I love atmospheres people can create in LL and this had some of that stuff I like. If you really try in one of these rounds I know were all gona see something amazing... and hacked ;)

Glassland Towers - Damn! Nice skyscrapers. Kinda wanted this in my top 3, just the buildings seems repetitive and the coaster did not really fit imo. Still, congrats on getting the old fuck bucket's #1 ranking and bursting onto the scene strong :)

Pixton Village - Very nice atmosphere on this little park. Was a charming little entry and I loved the cycle monorail, we hardly ever see them, but you pulled off a nice one here. Nice work, just in this round it took more than nice to hit it big. I hope to see you again next round, maybe with a hartline coaster or a reverse whoa-belly

Fuedal Freefall - Nice B&M dive machine, just the entry was fairly plain. I think that if you get a little more creative you have the skill to pull off a MM winner. Hope you try again soon and thanks for the cameo :kumbasgreen:

Round the bend - The coaster layout was good, just you really need to step up the creativity and try and work in some themeing if you want to find yourself at the other end of the standings. Thanks for entering a record (matching) third time :mantis:

Looking forward to some more comments... on the micros!

nobody. i get the rules and all and i'm not saying they need to be changed to suit me better. i'm just saying... would you rather see a 'micro' part of a park that isn't there? or would you rather see somebody take on the challenge and cram what they can into a set size? it's all personal opinion but i don't think you can argue that fact that cocoa's entry, while very nice, looks like a small portion taken out from a larger park that isn't there. while roomie's entry actually looks like it's own park. and to me, that represents the true challenge and 'point' of a micro.

I agree with RMM that if I was going to build a micro I'd specifically challenge myself with a minimal space to try and fit work on it.

The thing I love about this competition is people interpret the brief differently. As long as Louis's entry was in 400 squares I see no problem. He obviously built something beautiful to get second place.

Congrats Cocoa, you know I love your work. Also congrats to Roomie for another entry, you make Britain proud :)
  • Kumba%s's Photo
Oh and something that made Louis's entry even more controversial was he had outlined it with water. That brought up a debate about over them counting as used space. We voted and it came back 3 to 2 (I voted that they don't count) that water tiles count towards the 400 tiles, even if unused.

Not sure if that could have pushed Louis to first, but it made for an interesting debate.
  • J K%s's Photo
It's surely grabbed my attention. Nice bit of controversy always does well. I'll be joining the titan month of June and submitting an entry hopefully.
  • Cocoa%s's Photo
yes! oh my god I was so worried about this round, I'm just happy man- this was so close. I need to check out the others now. wow, huge controversy though. I guess I just need to say "thanks". :D

so some people were complaining about my 'section of a park'. when I made my micro for the hannukah thing, I fit in a contained park but I felt that actually constrained me. I had to keep my rides and buildings small and compact and it didn't feel real, let alone realistic to me. so this time I built the way I wanted to and tried to fit in a good amount of stuff without compromising my vision of it or my style of building.

@cena: that's exactly why i thought mine would fail- it wasn't peepable and there was just not much action in it.

so lets just say it now :D RCTPro FTW!!!
