I might enter this month, it looks like a fun contest and I haven't played RCT in forever. This'll [hopefully] be a good little re-entry into RCT, even if I don't win, and seeing the people who are supposed to enter, I don't know how good my chances are.
Yeah I thin that's a good idea to give the championship entries a little more kick. Some may say it take way from it being a "micro," but imo it gives people more room to be creative with an entry that is still basically micro sized.
no one cares about the fucking size, in all honesty. we're here to play a computer game and have some jolly good fun in the meantime. let's not get bogged down with such trifles, eh?
Actually it was 15x15 (Micro Madness and the Micro Park scenario). I bumped it to 20x20 for this since we'd have at least a month per entry rather than 2 weeks like in Micro Madness.
So since you bought into 20x20 for the contest and allowed it to change the definition can you please do the same for the finals size?
I think it'd be a wrong decision to change the rules now. I've already got 3 entries from which I will use 2 for the remaining months and the best one is supposed to be my finals entry. So if you change it now, that'd be a little too late for me and my finals entry.

Micro's were 20x20 already back in the day, your Micro Madness was only 15x15. RCTAvenged, (where you had an accolade in this) had the Microworks, with a max size of 20x20.
Just keep the rules like this;
20x20 max, no exceptions, it would make a lot more sense.
Making the limit to 25x25 will not improve the amount of creativity etc.
Btw;
15x15=225
20x20=400
25x25=625
Do you see the difference Kumba? A 25x25 map is more 2.5 times as big as a 15x15 ... The meaning of Micro gets lost then ....
I actually agree with Cena, although no one has any right to define what a Micro is there obviously needs to be a limit and I think 20x20 is fair compromise for a standardised micro size.
Cena, just because something is 2.5 times bigger, doesn't necessarily mean it will lose it meaning.
If I have something that is 5 * 5 = 25, 25 * 2.5 = 62.5, sqrt(62.5) = ~8, so you go from 5 * 5 to 8 * 8. Not that big of a difference. The bigger you go, the higher the difference.
EDIT: I do agree that a micro should be kept at 15^2-20^2, especially since 25^2 is a quarter of a the smallest map size possible in the SE.
I also agree with TPM and Cena. I enjoy the micro competitions precicely because its a challenge and requires thought to fit what you want in such a small space and make it look good.
With another 225 squares to play with it takes away most of that. My current project would be MUCH easier on a 25x25 map but some of the ideas ive come up with to compromise would never have come about had it been larger.
I just want 25x25 so I can fit in all the ideas that I want to fit in without clutter. Now stop bitching about the definition of micro . But if you guys don't want to change I guess I will just change my plans.

Yes, but that would make it easier. When you have 20x20 for use, you need to put more thought and work in it to pull it off, which in the end makes a bigger impact.
But in America everything is always bigger and better, so maybe we should change it for US players to 25x25 and for the rest it has to stay at 20x20.

IMO 225 squares is just too much extra
