Description
The park is classic SA, only modernized in RCT2. The themed area approach is a given, and just like some of his other legendary parks (the Legends series and Clockwork Dreams spring to mind), it uses the four-themed area formula to perfection. The first themed area is the Tibet-inspired Lhasa. A themed area based on Buddhist culture and principles, it features a terrific atmosphere, some completely exclusive ToonTowner custom theming, and flawless execution. It is here you'll find "Lotus", a B&M Flying Coaster themed to hang-gliding in the Himalayas, created in a dual-effort by SA and Joe Holland, each creating one half of the ride. The next area of the park is fittingly, Babylon, the entrance area of the park. This area of the park was completely re-modeled after SA pre-released this park long ago, so those that downloaded that version have nothing to worry about. "The 7th Wonder" coaster is a Drachen Fire clone, a SA trademark, and "Eden" is a truly beautiful rapids ride that takes up almost the entire center of the park. Next up is possibly the greatest themed area of all time (and definitely one of the largest), Lemuria, an interpretation of sorts on Atlantis. In actuality, it's the sister island of Atlantis, and although the themes are somewhat similar, there are some very obvious differences as well. My favorite ride in the park, "Eversio Lemuria", the newest in the line of classic SA Beemers (joining the two Leviathan coasters and Phoenix) is featured here, and is most probably the single best RCT2 ride created to date. This area is far from a one trick pony though, as you'll also find the beautiful "Flood" log flume, themed to the great flood of Biblical times. Not to mention, the best architecture and theming in the entire park is here. Finally, the Tulum area of the park, of Mexican inspiration, which features three coasters. First off, "Kuxan Suum" (or 'Road to the Sky' in english), a classy wooden coaster. There's also "Kukulkan-The Serpant God", a marvelous suspended coaster and even a ride for the kids, "Tecote", a Family Coaster.

I fully acknowledge that I obviously can't appreciate an RCT2 park as much as people who play the game because I just see it as, "does it look nice or not", rather than, "that's not amazing but it must have taken a helluva-lot work and skill to achieve" as I am not fully to grip with the games building techniques so I don't know what it takes to build a park like this. But I don't see what's so fascinating about it and how it has the ability to become No.2 on a self confessed LL fanatics (posix - what's no.1?) park list. It is definitely one of the best RCT2 parks I have seen and there are some things pretty fascinating such as the log flume and B&M but the architecture just leaves alot to be desired for me, especially after seeing what Toon, Foozy and even Butta' can do with the game.
Now I know I'm not 'down' with the RCT2 deal but this just doesn't jump out and hit me as a jaw-droopingly good park, like SWA, TH or Battlefield did upon first viewing. I can see there are some great coaster layouts, some glimpses of magnificence and good atmospheres but I see that in pretty much all Spotlights/Runner-ups here. This park is a cut above the rest as far as RCT2 goes probably, and for RCT2ers will most likely be a park to remember but, for people like me who are rather cynical about RCT2 parks and see the game in a different light because of being accustomed 100% to LL, I can see this park quickly becoming a distant memory as Foozy produces more, Toon releases IOA and Butta' comes out with new stuff.
Overall this has been a great kick up the ass for the community. 4, pushing 5, pages of replies as I type is something of a rarity for a park now-a-days and I think it will inspire people to produce better quality RCT2 parks and eventually take more interest in the Spotlight again. Whether it be LL or RCT2 - I am an LLer, along with a lot of other members who have replied, but have taken the time to view, appreciate the time and effort taken and comment on the park, why can't RCT2ers do the same for LL spotlights?
Anyway, sorry to be so negative about the park SA, but I suppose not everyone is going to love it . It's good to see you back on form though and I can allways hope you make a return in LL someday .

There were a few things I didn't like, such as the entrance area which was really weak compared to the rest of the park. The entrance was the definition of average and could have been brought to a much higher level. The overuse of signs didn't help either. It became too much. The major thing I couldn't get over was "this isn't RCT", or atleast this isn't the RCT which I'm used to. I couldn't get over the fact that this park portrays RCT as a different game. And as strange as it sounds, I disliked it for that fact. All in all the park currently ranks 4th on my list and like all parks, has the ability to move.

I am sure this will crack the top 5 if not number 1 on the List
Mantis, Rodney King was a black man who was pulled from his car by LA police and beaten something like 50+ times with batons. Back during the LA riots in 1991. I am pretty sure he was just speeding.

I cant open the park. In case anyone wants to be nice and help me, I put the cd in, and whenever I try to open the game or a park it goes to that "wrong cd inserted" thingie on the left hand corner, but with messed up and glitchey options. No matter what I select I get a lovely little "inaccessible data" tab.
Anyway, screens look nice and stuff.

I did LOVE the Drachen fire imitator and it's theming, I thought the steel twister was GENIUS...amazing surreal elements like the batwing near the waterfalls. I liked that area the best. The log flumes were stunning.
I HATE the chinese area. That flyer was so subpar. I disliked it, and I disliked the area.

In fact i'll write my own review:
With my boring and uneventful life i have plenty of time to keep track of the amusement parks that are in developement. As such i made sure to hit this, SACF Rivers Of Babylon on opening day.
On November 16th I headed out, driving down to Chicago International Airport where I met Coasterkidmwm, as planned and caught our flight off to hevens gate.
On the flight I blased Pink Floyd cds through my portable cd player while napping, ah. There are few things more refreshing than a snooze to Dark Side Of the Moon. I have no idea how Coasterkid entertained himself as i enjoyed the rest.
After the uneventful flight we checked into our hotel room at a local Days Inn and got dinner at a Applebees next door. There are few times in ones life that BBQ ribs could've have tasted quite so glorius. There was a BillBoard for ROB across the street, helping to boost my already insane amount of antisipation.
The next morning: Monday November 17th we arrived early for the park opening cerimonies. Speechs were made first by SACF himself followed by a couple managers. Then Corscrewed gave his take on the place. I wanted in worse then than ever. He was followed by closing statements for Coaster Ed and we headed in.
The park: starting right at the enterence the Archetecture has it's own style and atmosphere. Not what we were expecting. Coasterkid seemed alittle disapointed, but i assured him that this was the oldest area of the park and thereby the weakest by nature. Coasterkid suddenly pointed to a moutain in the center of the park- Eden. Too wet we jointly decided, choosing The 7th Wonder as our first coaster. This was a mistake. Since it was opening day every coaster nut and there brother packed the line, which streched to nearly 2 hours. *Sigh* We grabbed a 3rd row ride and enjoyed the expearence. From the detailed Que to the architecture interaction on the ride we were mutully wowed. Pleased we headed on to Flood as the day was starting to warm. The 7th Wonder: 8/10
On the way we entered Lemuria. Stunning. The architecture, the aquaducts, the waterfalls; gorgius.
Flood proved to be an involving expearence, with large drops and some of the best theming ever seen. 7.5/10 I'm not really into flumes but this ride got my stamp of approvial anyway.
Because of the time wizzing by we broke for lunch, back in Babylon. From there we caught a ride on the chair lift back to Lhasa where I brought up enough courage to ride the Monkey and the Moon, Money side. Coasterkid, not willing to pass anything that i did up joined. 8/10 I love S&S freefalls.
From that point we enjoyed the atmophere and headed back, over the bridge, to Lotus. I couldn't help but make the remark that an English sports car companie has the same name. The line moved quickly, testiment to the great, hand-picked employees SACF got here. After a short hour (that's the the detail does to you, an hour is "short") we were on board. The first half was a real... *yawn* Even with it's stunning location Lotus simply came out too slow. But then, as we almost found the time to doze the ride suddly dove into a speed-helix, ripped under a brigde and zipped through another. Whew! Nice ending! 7/10
Now on ward to Kukulkan it was! We were suprised by the seemingly non-existant 25 minute wait, that short of time in the detailed Que just didn't seem like enough. The coaster itself was equally well-built. The first half was quick but seemed to pick up speed right before hitting the brakes for the 2nd lift. Why do Suspendeds always do that?! But the 2nd portion threw the train left and right in an evil motion that seemed to defy known phisics. Far surpassing anything in the first half, or anything we'd ridden that day surely. 8.5/10
From there was a brisk walk to Kuxan Suum where the 1 hour line seemed too fast again because it was so hard to soak up all the details and thought that went into the attaction in such a short time. The expearence of the quaking wooden rails beneath us was familar and brought back memorys of coasters back home. But this was a uniquely wonderful expearence which we rode twice 9/10 before breaking for dinner (it was now nearing 6:30).
We decided to pass up Tecate in order to save time for the parks largest coaster: Eversio Lamuria. We took the long walk around to the ride and on the way we bumped into Natolox, who was friendly and somehow scary, just something about him.
We also had to pass up Eden. Since i'm not a big fan of River Rafts this didn't seem to be too much of a loss. Maybe next time.
Then there came the hightlight of the day. We arived at Eversio Lamuria just as dusk had really set in. The thrill that was this monster brought us to our knees afterward. Sure the area it's in is amazing the park is nearly unrivaled but this... This coaster is everything that you can ask of a signiture ride; high capasity, fast, smooth, thrilling, well themed. There is only one thing i could find even slightly odd about the ride... It's invertion goup. The group was repetitive and could've benifited from a corkscrew or Zero-G roll. But hey, screw that. Ride this at night and welcome yourself to bliss. We hit this 4 times and then found the Que blocked as it was now an hour pass the 10:00 closing time. Eversio Lemuria- 9.8/10
We were satisfied and looking forward to next time. Even with the long jouney i'm considering pruchasing season passes, so that i will force myself to make another trip or two here soon.
ride6, signing out.
