Congratulations to X250 who has just earned his invitation into the second annual Pro Tour. Easily one of the most promising upcoming parkmakers, I think it was somewhat evident that X was going to get into this contest one way or another throughout the course of the preliminaries, but he took care of it quickly with a round two win. It should be very interesting to see how X250 fairs in the final contest, going up against some of his close friends such as Titan and Artist. Congrats, and good luck in the finals!
A major thanks to the other four entries. The quality was definitely a step up this week in my opinion, as every single entry impressed me in some way or another. X250 was the first entry and kept the top spot all the way through, still the others put up quite a fight. Leighx came in second with an almost equally awesome liquid coaster that was held back due to a couple unfinished areas (though I think I would have given it to X anyway...but maybe not) and I really hope Leigh continues to enter the Prelims. Geoff came in third with his awesome coaster, which was very nice but again had several unfinished parts that left me wondering whether they were just plain unfinished or failed attempts at simplistic barren style of parkmaking. Egg_Head came fourth with an interesting pair of dueling liquid coasters that I was not expecting at all, and I was really pleasently suprised by, and Levis rounds out the competition with an equally unique ride, a trackless adventure liquid coaster with a great idea...I just wish it expanded more then that little castle. Still great entries everyone!
X250's coaster was beautiful, and leigh's coaster I think came really close. Imo, it could have gone either way, but x250 deserved it since it was more complete.
I wasn't actually trying to do a barren theme, it was just incompleteness.
Nice entries though, congrats x250. Very nice job.
I wonder if slob is ever going to get over himself.
EDIT: I'm going to comment a bit on those entries, because they were all pretty nice.
I loved Geoffs for one, i think you definitely have some skill down. Would have won, finished, imo. i wasn't a huge fan of Leighx's, probably the worst one in my opinion. Egg head's was ok, but i think a duelling coaster needs to duel more, but it was kind of sweet. Levis' was very interesting, but why not use the rapids track and have actual turns? X250, i see how it won, nice archy, ok coaster (not great..) and well, the most iris pleasing like park of them all. I think if i were making the decision i would have gone with x250 in the end, but i would have been tempted to give either levis or geoffs it. Though levis had to much wrong with it at closer inspection, and geoffs was unfinished. So, x250 sneaks it anyways. Congrats.
so i actually looked at them all. let's see... x250, wow did that second drop hurt. i mean, i could never get behind the myth why the main drops of liquids have to be doubled, really. i take it it's just to make it look better? well, in your case, i thought it looked awful. anyway, it won because it was most finished, i understand that. didn't really appeal to me though.
leighx, same really. bright rct2 sell-out style. of course, you're above average, i guess.
geoff, yeah, you all know i liked this one best. i thought it had the most distinguished style of all five. it was nicely done in places and had a complex foliage system. kept it on my hd.
egg_head, duelling liquids, now i haven't seen that before. however, they were horribly executed, in my opinion, so i didn't bother to look much. the effort showed and you have the treeing down like natelox in his early days, almost.
levis, i like you. yours was the most original of them. made my computer go little slower though, heh. i think if you keep playing you'll sooner or later have your breakthrough improvement and i don't begrudge that to you. in fact, i have hope. go for it.
Well there you go, people ask me why the hell is x250 on your top 5 parkmaker list, well the answer is because he is plain awesome, congrats X it's nice to have you with us and i know that you will be placing very high in this PT.
This round was very weird for me, all my favourite people were in it, Geoff with his awesome entry, i gotta say geoff it blew me away and leighx my close friend, whos entry was also amazing. IMO geoff should have come second, he entry was insane and beautiful, i loved it, if only you had filled the empty unfinshed spaces you could have won.
Good job guys, lets hope you keep up the quality for the other rounds.
A superb round, great entries from everyone involved there.
X250: A very good entry. The colouring was very nice and it was very lush looking, which was nice. The coaster had a solid layout, but I agree with Posix, that double drop was ridiculous. especially since it just droped straight into a statue. It wasn't even discrete about it's pointlessness. But yeah, deserved the win methinx
Leigh: This just screams your name. Lots of 1/4 tile work and landblocks. It was actually very nice, but another fake double drop...groan. I liked the foliage work a lot, and the layouts were good, but obviously, this wasn't finished. Probably on par with X's if it was.
Geoff: Such a shame this wasn't finished. Definately would have won in my eyes. Some of that architecture/landscaping work was phenonemal. An excellent entry, and definately had the best coaster layout (that is ignoring the ridiculously fast turn on water after the first drop, erg) The custom supports were wonderful too, and as Posix said, the foliaging was complex and pretty damn excellent.
Egghead: I didn't really know what to expect not having seen your work before, but I was definately not disapointed. A good effort on the duelers there, with some nice concepts like going through that giant building (which i really liked) but the timing was really poor. They hardly actually dueled at all, 99% of the time they were out of synch with eachother. A very long ride too....maybe too long. Anyway, I really liked the colours you used in your architecture and how they complimented the coaster colours too, so nice one. The landscaping was nice also.
Levis: I was mildly impressed by this. Definately the most original entry of the round. It made my computer go slow though with all the animated water. The hacking was pretty messy with the boats making harsh 90% turns, but certainly a good concept. I liked the underwater stuff too, that worked really well. Could have benefitted from a few more colours, but you are definately one to look out for in the future.

Blame Tyler.
Anyways, I looked at them, and can say that I least enjoyed X250's, although it was the most complete, and technically accomplished entry, hence the win, I assume. I though egghead and Levis' were the the most fun, though, and Geoff's was the best overall (that is to say, the one which had the best balance between all of the various things I look for in a work.)
Then again, I only looked at these VERY late last night, and was half asleep, so I'll look at them again today.
Congrats X !
i like your coaster and the theming is awesome
The other parks are really cool especially the parks of leighx and levis , i love the hack work on the coaster but i think the buildings need more color and leighx looks good i like the details and 1/4 work.
NOw i'm gonna ckeck the parks of egg and geoff
the fake double drop on x250's was so rediculous. turned me off to his entry so much.
i guess people don't realize that the double drop actually serves a purpose on real water rides; it's just become some trendy detail that every watercoaster muuuust have. if you're gonna put it in, fine, but at least make it LOOK like it could work. sheesh.
i didn't really like any of them that much, but geoff's was the least sucky of the group.
