Some of the best LL work around. Well done milo. I'll have a full review for you later.

The "Read on" is linked to the "Indigo Hills" page.
    Just mentioning ^^

Seems like a strong design. I love the hacking and I'm somehow stunned by those hedge arches oO

Just maybe the LL equivalent of El Encierro imo. So very good work. What I think I liked best was the frozen staff members used as venders and ride ops. egg was the first to successfully do that and I am glad to see more people utilizing it. I also loved how the rapids interacted with the ship wrack, then all over the map you have great details like on the shops and the beams under and around the paths. The only negatives I saw was that your naming is fairly generic and Relic was a nice ride, but poorly themed. Also a catwalk for the coaster would have been nice. I was fine with you not using custom supports since they never look right in LL anyways.

Id have given it a 17, or 18 if I were on the panel (and I should be!). I am really looking forward to seeing what you do next, this was an amazing ne debut.

thanks for the great page guys (that logo is awesome, dave)

Ill comment on comments later but thanks to those who have so far.

I'd also like to give a big thanks to Loopy for looking at this throughout construction and giving many helpful hints and comments. This wouldn't have been half as good without his great advice. It was much appreciated man :). Also thanks to rK_ for testing the final version.

First, congrats on the Design milo.

Based on my very limited LL knowledge, I'm sure I've missed some of the details you put into the map. I guess I'll never understand why someone would want to go through all the steps to execute something that RCT2 can do in it's sleep. That said, to accomplish that look in LL is impressive. I guess we all have our craziness we must deal with in order to enjoy the game!

    Again, congrats!

This is probably my favourite LL design so far. Beautiful job on the unique layout! I also quite enjoyed all the little details which is what I think makes LL parks so great and fun to build. The only thing I couldn't get past in the design was the foliage. I don't know, I just wasn't feeling the tree selection. However, everything else.....ace.

    Massive.

the frozen employees were genius- i rofl'd at roger the shrubber.
the hacks everywhere are fantastic- the exterior walls are an accomplishment alone, the 'beams', the shrubbery path covers, checkered 'sacrifice pad'...
tempest itself was good but not great- i wish you'd staggered the train timing some- the zero-g through the loop section was a bit awkward and the immelman slow.
It looks like you and loopy were consorting about your egyptian-wall ziggurats :p
relic is a nice addition, and the part of the flood i can actually see is fantastic. the station area is really, really, great actually- the snapped mast is clever.
One of the most stylish lighthouses I've ever seen, nicely done. the raised egyptian banners are a nice trick that i don't think works all that well. Not enough to really pull anything down, but I don't like the way they look. While i do admire your attempt at black-tiling... frankly it would've looked better and been easier if you'd just filled out the map with dunes and waves.

an amazing park, really- full of detail and quality parkmaking. The only major flaw is a serious visibility problem. would I have voted for design? yes, but this is definitely a small park- i'd have given it silver or maybe gold with all the content smooshed in there.

This succeed in impressing me. The hacks were far from subtle, sometimes they came across as a little too busy I thought, but still impressive nonetheless. I really liked the wrecked ship and the water ride going through it. I liked the detail of all the stacking / hacking, I disliked the occasional glitches but what can you do?

Very intricate and it's easy to see that a lot of thought and time was put into this, a well deserved design.

This is an excellent LL entry. I loved the little pyramids at the ride entrance. The canals were also very cool. Great work on getting the design accolade, Milo!

Hey Milo, great job on this park, dude. It was great watching this thing grow in the AD. It was one of my more anticipated parks at the time and I'm so glad to see it done. I think my score reflects what I think of it, but it's was all fantastic. I don't open LL much but when I do, I go to this park first when I want to look at past works; I feel this is one of the Designs I'll look back on most. I hope to see more work from you soon! Great job.

I must admit on my first viewing i was not very impressed with this one.
Then i took the time to look at the individual hacks and now i think its great. There are still areas i'm not a fan of but overall i think it comes together as greater than the sum of its parts.

The River Rapids is superb especially the station in the ship and the use of the station to provide a ride where the boats donts stop.
The coaster itself is alright although im not a fan of the colour scheme. The interaction with the surroundings is top notch though.

There are plenty of extra little hacks in this to look over too. The little pyramids and the ride ops especially.

    Cheers
    Roomie

I don't have LL, so can't really comment on this much, but from the look of the aerial view, I absolutely love the look of that rapids ride and the shipwreck. The double-loop coaster looks fun too, as of course does the main inverted coaster. Congrats.

i think this is the best LL design i've ever seen.

Milo and Loopy are the two greatest/most innovative LL parkmakers right now.

good job man, you deserve it.
  • posix%s's Photo
gwazi, that's an interesting point. i agree that they brought to life a building style that most would consider to be "ideal" and desirable. they founded it, in a way. the stacking-style. enabled by darkfire's codex.

milo, you read my comment in the panel, i'm sure. i liked it, but it didn't catch me completely and i think you know why already. this new style we're talking of is absolutely impressive, but what i still look for in rct parks is that soothing, calm, picturesque, harmonic, classic, realistic style parkmaking started by joe holland and made popular by sa and schuessler. i wonder if i'll ever get over that.

    ed, i miss you.

this was flat out awesome. There were some things I wished were there, such as minor realistic details like a catwalk, transfer tracks, pre-drop after the lift. also the three trains back to back bothered me, although for the effect it gave it was okay, i guess. the rapids ride didn't feel real, but it was simply amazing. i loved the station, and the shuttle coaster was damn cool. the restaurant with the upper level diagonal like seating was amazing, aswell as the lighthouse.

    great job all around.

thanks for all the comments so far...

Louis- thanks and looking forward to the review ;)

Mifune- are you talking about the path covers over the benches? thanks

Kumba- yeah I guess the ride names were generic but oh well... I actually was originally going for a sort of lost civilization look but then went to the generic ruins as it went along. Relic could have been better but the collapsed wall and bit through the loop was kinda cool imo and it was one of the last things I did and I was rushing to just get this sent in. glad you liked it for the most part though and hopefully you'll have some things to look forward to

RCTNW- thanks for looking although I'm going to be honest and say that comments like "why not just play rct2" irritate me to no end. Emulating rct2 is not why I'm building this. Just as you like huge structures and multimaps, I like pushing the limits of an old game rather than having all the objects handed to me ;). Might seem masochistic at times but as you say, we all get enjoyment from rct in different ways.

jusmith- I was expecting more negetive comments on the foliage which right now is my huge blind spot in the game. Honestly I'm not too happy with it either but I just sort of picked a mix and went with it near the end of construction. I did like the dead trees around the coaster idea. I'm happy you liked the rest.

][22- glad someone caught the roger the shrubber reference... although it's pretty random . nice to see you took in a lot of the details although I honestly thing tempest is a pretty good layout and the egyptian banners added a hell of a lot to the theme. to each his own i guess. and I could have completed the black tiles so I don't see how it was an "attempt" at them... i was just lazy. and hell no on trying to landscape the rest of the map . Also, it was debated in the release topic if this should be a park or not and I said I wanted it to stay Design.

Ozone- nice to see you back and that one of the 'older' players who I found a lot of inspiration from is enjoying this :). Yeah the glitches suck but that's what happens when you hack things to hell and back haha.

Xcoaster- those little pyramids are one of my favorite parts as well...

Steve- glad you liked it man and that you followed it through construction. I was never really sure if anyone was following the ad topic haha. Hopefully I'll have some new work soon and I'm happy this is a memorable Design for you.

Roomie- lol that's kind of the reverse effect of what I thought most people would have. I figured it would be impressive for a short while and then get old or something. Glad you dug a little deeper because there is actually a lot of detail on the map. I'm curious as to what you're still not fond of but I'm glad it grew on you as a whole.

eyeamthu1- thanks and I'm glad you took a look even without LL.

    Gwazi- thanks man

phil- I'd give most credit to Loopy for devolping the stacked fence style, hell he based almost a whole Spotlight on it. It's nice you liked it even though it goes against your preferred style. I'm not asking you to get over what you like because I like to go the heavy detail route. And I don't really consider this the 'ideal' style of LL either, I really enjoy the more natural and calm approach too.... just not when I'm building anything . My ideas are too crazy. and I miss Ed to :'(

gee- figured you'd wish it was more on the realistic side... to be honest I didn't add those details because I figured I'd do them wrong anyway. I'm happy you could get past the less realistic elements and enjoy this though.

I know the trains probably bugged a lot of people and I realised I broke a sort of unwritten rct rule by having them go one after the other but whatever... I liked the timing of the trains that way and don't really care. To me it just doesn't seem that relevant.
  • spartan%s's Photo
Definitely one of the best LL designs. Relic and the shipwreck part of the rapids were nice additions as designs don't seem to be just a coaster anymore, and more like a small park or section of it. I think what really puts this over the top is all the detail put into it. I really like the stacked fences on the buildings, especially the crenelation on the outer walls. I can only guess how much time it takes to do all that. This style really adds some needed detail to the usual "raise a couple tiles of land and slope the top" buildings. Definitely some new textures to play around with.
The only thing I didn't really like was the foliage. The tree selection seemed random with trees that didn't really fit the theme. Oh, and those frozen workers were cool, you'll have to show me how to do that sometime.

    Here you go milo,

Overall this was amazing, incredibly ingenious and definately a design i'm going to look at over and over again, and still find little things that I missed.
The placement of the restaurant at the entrance was really good. I know if I was sitting there I'd stay there all day watching the trains go through the batwing, and the fact it had upper level dining too was great, the tables looked brilliant sitting on the balcony over the path below.
The use of banners as windows and window arches was a great idea, it added dimension to what's normally just flat windows.
The lighthouse is one of the best lighthouses ive seen, and I liked how it kind of linked to your old RCT2 lighthouse, with the wooden staircase, it was very majestic and well placed among the ruined buildings.
The Flood's q-line was terrific, great interaction with with ride (i'm guessing the little cannons would spray water at the unsuspecting rapid riders below), and I loved the second queue cover, simple and elegant.
Moving onto the station of The Flood, I thought it was very well thought out, the fact that the boats never stopped and how you turned the shipwreck into one of the better circular rapid stations. The use of 'beams' from the shipwreck to guide the boats around was great too.
Another thing I liked was the diamond windows of the second restaurant, although the building was a bit square, this made up for it :p
The simplicity of Relic was good as it helped to balance the park into being a design with more features than a full blown mini-park. I loved the way it was supported with the barrels.
The layout of Tempest was very strong and had a great flow and the station just tops it off. The foliage at the front of the station really helped to break up thhe buildings colours and turn what could have been a great station into an incredible station.

If I had to vote, I would have voted 18/20. An amazing piece of LL work, I'm looking forward to what else you have up your sleeve.
